At the point of the landing, Neil Armstrong's heart raced to 156 beats per minute.
Neil Armstrong surprised mission controllers when he announced just after landing, "Houston. Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has landed". They hadn't heard anything about "Tranquility Base" before. In all the training, the call sign had always been "Eagle". CAPCOM Charlie Duke had been told in advance and even he tripped up on it, referring to it as "Twang-quility Base".
After many challenges, "Eagle" finally touched down with only 17 seconds left on the clock before the mandatory abort call.
