It's ok enough as a romcom
elisaus29 September 2023
I loved the scenery and the story is not too bad. I understand there may be inconsistencies on the technical aspects of the piloting job but I don't think the movie warrants the lowest rating. The acting is ok, the filmography was also on point and the story is the typical adversaries turned into lovers. It's nice enough. It even makes me want to book a trip to Australia when I'm able to save enough for it ;). If you are looking for a nice, light movie, and romantic movies are your thing, this one's nice enough. And the story is fine, as romcoms go. I would like to visit the li actions in which the movie was filmed. Really, gorgeous places.

Missed the mark
Chloebythesea11 October 2023
I don't think we're meant to take this movie seriously. Because it seems that the filmmakers didn't even take it seriously.

The good bits: Stunningly beautiful sceneries; attractive easy on the eye leads; supporting actors' performance.

The no good bits: the script is not very convincing, lacks substance; both female and male leads' unrealistic makeup just doesn't seem truthful to the characters; lead performances are cringy at times; pacing seems a bit off especially towards the end.

Overall it's a very forgettable movie. I think I'll only remember the beautiful blue sea and the unnecessarily long false eyelashes.

Watched it for the pretty lady
pmathivathan28 September 2023
"Love is in the Air" appears to be a romantic film featuring Delta Goodrem as a seaplane pilot in a cheesy and saccharine love story. The movie seems to rely heavily on clichés and contrived situations, making it a challenging watch for most audiences. The central romance between Dana and William, played by Joshua Sasse, doesn't seem to have much chemistry, and the plot's predictability is a drawback. The film's dialogue and performances also come across as forced at times. While the movie aims for an uplifting experience, it appears to fall short of delivering genuine emotions. Delta Goodrem's performance, while not outstanding, manages to deliver some of the film's corny lines with a straight face. Overall, it seems like a film primarily suited for die-hard fans of the Sydney-born performer rather than a broader audience.

Rough around the edges romance
MickyG3331 October 2023
7.4 stars.

We have a story about a young and beautiful female bush pilot of sorts who flies all around the land down under doing this and that. Her dad runs the outfit, but it's owned by a company in England. The owner of the company sends his handsome son from London to Queensland to gut the little airline company because it's hemorrhaging money...

As the rich son and the beautiful female pilot get to know each other they feel immediate attraction, naturally followed by a period of bickering and awkwardness. As anticipated, they fall madly in love. There is a liberal amount of flying and a little bit of adventure, a cyclone and some fresh new stuff that is a nice change of pace from the usual romance movies I've seen the past year.

The scenery, music, the whole experience is breathtaking and romantic. This film is quite enjoyable and well made. The production value is above average, and to top it off the actors are endearing and likable.

The only downside is that something is missing and for some strange reason I can't put a finger on it. I think maybe it's the pacing, just a bit slow perhaps.

Less eye shadow please!
michelewhatworks27 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Enjoyable but very predictable plot line. I would have preferred if our heroine wasn't so Barbie perfect. I mean does she really have time to put on her perfect eye shadow when they are dealing with the aftermath of a cyclone! She's so gorgeous he would have fallen for her looking a little more like a regular girl. Then it would have been a fun surprise for him when she shows up at the boardroom in London in impeccable clothing and perfectly coiffed. Stunning scenery of this part of Australia. Could have watched that all day. Other characters were good and supportive. A pleasant diversion, but predictable in just about every way.

Its like they're making painful on purpse
souplahoopla30 September 2023
I dont think anyone is expecting this to be a cinematic masterpiece, its a Hallmark style romcom. But it could have been far far better with some minor adjustments.

Nearly everyone in this is overacting. Like its so over the top its ridiculous! The only convincing actress in this is Lizzie, who actually saves this whole movie from falling into a pit of ridicule. The worst offender is the female lead, she is just AWFUL, just...my god what were they thinking?? You could shove a fence post in the ground and have the guy fall in love with it, and it would be more believable than this girl...jeez. And also, not the actresses fault, but shes always there with her chest out, with flawless make up, including lipstick and jewellery (despite barely sleeping) and not a speck of dirt on her (despite her apparently being hands on)?? Come on movie....throw me a line here!

There are a few genuinely smile moments, exclusively to Lizzie, who is the only decent cast member, which is evident immediately.

So many small tweaks could have made this much better. The actors which were sub par, the shooting - which is very HD - was good for scenery shots but made everything hyper realistic like a nature documentary and made the bad acting stand out more. The awkward and unnatural script. The unrealistic makeup and costume. Like if they'd dialled down every aspect of this and spent more time on the script and actors it would be 10 times better.

This was an effort to watch.

Cute rom com
lisafordeay2 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Love Is In The Air is a 2023 Australian Romantic Comedy starring Delta Goodrem and Joshua Sasse.

The story follows a young woman (Goodrem) who happens to be a seapilot. When her family business is at risk, she gets a visit from a man named William(Sasse) from London who pays a visit to see what her business needs in order to keep the business up and running. Problems arise however when the young woman starts to grow feelings for William. Will they or won't they get together in the end. Overall I liked this film as it had a nice story to it.

The movie is also written by Katherine McPhee(yes that Katherine McPhee from American Idol fame).

Light entertainment - very light.
neilkempe30 September 2023
I'm a fan of Delta and a huge fan of Australian movies - but this did not work well at all.

It's lolly water iced with cliches and a predictable plot.

I do not understand why these kinds of movies are made. I understand that no-one forces us to watch - so, there's no need to do so then be all negative about it - but, like I said, I'm a Delta fan and a huge Australian movie fan - so, you just want to give it a shot.

But when the writing lacks depth, edge and light and dark, it ends up being little more than a relatively polished episode of Neighbours or Home and Away.

And , unfortunately then, the acting, directing, even the music, flops to the same low levels. Pity.

More than just a personal love type of movie....
PerryAtTheMovies29 February 2024
6.0/10 (Recommend)

Another Netflix film that comes across as a Hallmark film without being Hallmark. It's not unique in the slightest for how it tells its story, but what makes it such a gripping film is the love aspect. Not the love of two strangers though they are cute together. It's the humanity love that truly sells it.

The chemistry is strong between Delta Goodrem and Joshua Sasse. There's an instant bond that makes you want to see them together in the end. Of course the rest of the cast suits their roles very well. Hugh Parker plays the obnoxious father very well and Steph Tisdell brings that slight comic relief. Roy Billing rounds out the rest of the cast very well as that father who cares deeply for his daughter, his business, and his people.

By the end of the film my throat hurt from the emotions I felt throughout. As I said, for myself, there was a good humanity love to this film that enhanced the lovey dovey aspect that was already there. It's definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a romcom that isn't cheesy, or at least overly cheesy.

That's all for now. Thank you for taking the time to read my review. Until next time.... Enjoy the show!

An failed attempt at Local Hero crossed with The Larkins
ypvmdpb29 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I watched till the end, despite misgivings from 5 minutes in.

I desperately hoped it might develop.

My hopes were dashed. This is a hopeless attempt at a film.

The plot is obvious after 5 minutes.

Everything is so pristine (check out Delta's shorts in every frame!)

I suspect that Cyclones do more than leave some water on the floor.

Don't waste your time.

Apparently I need to add more words to qualify my review, so here's we go......

Good points: The scenery is beautiful, the actors are beautiful, I didn't have to pay to watch it.

Less good points: It's a load of tripe without vinegar or onions.

Book me a flight to Queensland!!
ani-stevenson29 September 2023
We could all use a light hearted rom com these days right? Well "Love is in the Air" absolutely delivers!

From the charming characters, to the picturesque settings, this movie is a heartwarming journey through romance in tropical Queensland, Australia.

The chemistry between the lead actors is adorable, leaving you rooting for their love story from the very start! The lighthearted moments between the Fullerton airways team sprinkle a perfect dose of humor, making it a joy to watch.

A character in itself, the stunning backdrop of Queensland shines as the setting for Fullerton. The cinematography is simply breathtaking, capturing the essence and beauty of the Whitsundays with gorgeous sprawling shots.

"Love is in the Air" is a feel-good gem that will have you running to book your next trip in Queensland!

This is a very attractive couple that falls in love and solves a problem to save a small family run airline in Australia.
cgvsluis11 October 2023
I think romantics and fans of Hallmark movies will enjoy this romance set on the sunny coast of Australia. Dana is a sea plane pilot in her small family run airline that was started by her idle...fellow pilot and her mother. William is sent by his father and fellow investment banker to double check his numbers and to shut down the airline, thus proving that he is ready for more responsibility at their family run investment firm. These two are destined to class, but Dana in the process of showing William the ropes gradually wins him over both romantically and to the necessity of their airline. Then there is a hurricane that showcases the airline's strengths.

Delta Goodrem (Dana) and Joshua Sasse (William) are both great actors who look so great together and have amazing chemistry with one another. It helps to have a lush Australian backdrop for them to fall in love in.

Lighthearted and family friendly this is a sweet romance for those who want a simple escape.

Cringeworthy
kerrieprice-969531 October 2023
This was terrible! The father and the mechanic were almost realistic but 'Dana' the pilot, with the makeup, the facial expressions and the lack of serious acting ability made me hide behind a pillow. Her role appeared to be that of a spoilt child despite the story depicting her to be from humble beginnings. William was good to look at but he seemed star struck or something that prevented him really getting into his role...movie was so cliche and unrealistic due to the acting and lack of fine tuning smaller details. The scenery was nice but hard to take serious when the plane was depicted flying all around the skies but they forgot to add fuel. It had the bones to be good... tropical Queensland scenery, true sense of community in remote areas, particularly during major weather events that devastate and a bit of romance thrown in. Less makeup, a bit of dirt and grease and a more 'real' character could have made a tonne of difference.

All very silly and cute...
RosanaBotafogo14 April 2024
A female version of the film "Operation Christmas Drop (2020)"'2020, or with a dad reversal, as cute, cute, delicious, romantic kitchen and with a cute little drama as the other... They could have invested more in the little drama with the Tropical Cyclone, but It was just a subterfuge to ponder the kindness of the unknown man, of the united and selfless community, with a forced outcome, but all very silly and cute...

Dana Randall is an ultra-committed pilot for non-profit air service, Fullerton Airways, located in picturesque Far North Queensland. Along with her father Jeff and mechanic BFF Nikki, the small team works together to provide the essential air services the local island communities rely on. When London based ITCM Financial representative William is sent to Fullerton Airways to review the organization's financials, Dana welcomes him, aware that they rely heavily on his company's subsidies. What Dana doesn't know is that William's audit is to confirm the business's financial struggles and to prepare for its closure. As William spends time with Dana and the Island community, his loyalty is torn. He is falling for Dana and the feeling seems mutual... that is, until she accidentally discovers his true purpose.

Crikey!
qcnktgzw5 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Who ever casted for this movie must have lost a bet, the main female lead supposed to portray a local Australian little town pilot who cares about the people more than she does about money and profits, but somehow looks more like an instagram model who cares about her looks more than anything else, the amount of needless makeup that even a hurricane didn't wipe off. Don't get me wrong I didn't expect an Oscar performance , but the acting wasn't believable to say the least. "The 50 year old" plane looks like it came out of factory the morning they were flying it. I gave it 3 stars for the beautiful views and the cool accents.

Netflix romance
SnoopyStyle30 September 2023
William (Joshua Sasse) arrives to check the finances of a flying freight company. They only have one seaplane and Dana (Delta Goodrem) is the pilot. She flies around some of the remote communities of Australia. What nobody at the company knows is that William's only job is to shut them down.

The first meeting is wrong. He's the one who has to fall head over heels for her. Instead, she's the one checking him out. It's backwards. Eventually, the movie gets there. He has to be given a reason to not shut down the company. She's the classic shut-off single gal with relationship issues. On the plus side, the scenery is amazing. Whenever the movie is inside a car or the plane, the outside vista feels fake. The two leads are fine. I've never heard of Delta Goodrem. Apparently, she's a big Australian singing star. All in all, this Netflix romance is average at best.

The only good thing were the landscapes
veronicamedinaramirez2 October 2023
How can a director allow an actress to have the same face expression for most part of the movie? So worried about looking gorgeous that they for got to wipe a little bit of make up from her face, at least during the hurricane. To make things worse was the acting of those two main characters. Nice story, beautiful landscapes but it's not at all worth watching. The hero girl turned out to be a spoiled, arrogant brat and a terrible actress. The Prince Charming could've had a little more dynamic, the character was kind of gray and flat. The only thing that makes it worth it to watch is the good looking couple wothout paying attention to the acting part, and the beautiful places, but watching photographs give the same emotions.

Give it a chance!
fbiwoman4 October 2023
I actually loved it. The description sounds like a cheesy hallmark movie, and there are certainly elements of that, but there's still some emotional and meaningful moments and it was enjoyable. Loved the characters, I thought it was well acted, and the beauty of Australia is definitely showcased front and centre.

I laughed, I cried, and I will watch again! Not sure what the negative reviewers thought they were going to get; it's a bit cliche but heartwarming, which is exactly how it is described. If you like this kind of movie, you'll enjoy it, and if this genre isn't your cup of tea, you might not. I actually hate Hallmark type movies - I can't do the over the top cheese - but IMO this movie has found exactly the right balance to make it not just watchable, but entertaining.

Scenery over substance
richardtironui2 October 2023
At least this film looks good. In fact it looks very good and serves as a wonderful tourist promo for Queensland and the Whitsunday's. Even the brief scenes of London look very inviting, though the view out of the office window looks ominously like Brisbane.

This is almost enough to cover a very basic plot line and a script which could have been created by AI. That said, it is all very pleasant and innocent and the sort of film your Granny would approve of.

Aeroplane buffs are already having a ball identifying inaccuracies within the cockpit, but at least this plane does not morph into another type of airliner altogether as is a common practice in other movies.

Too sterile, Too Predictable, Too Fake
klaffy2 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Sadly, as gorgeous as we know Delta Goodrem is, she should have played down her character's grooming standards to have us believe she was a real hard working pilot in the sweltering tropics. Possibly could have cast a real pilot and they would have been more convincing. Trying too hard to throw in outdated 'Ocker' lines that really makes Australians cringe. Why do they do that? All too clinical 'on-set', sadly. Locations are impressive but at times sea views and the shots were obviously taken on different days. The interior plane scenes were not the best. Timing of many things was out of whack! Not enough research had gone into understanding airline ops and language. All in all top marks for no violence, no nudity and no coarse language. They tried their best with some poor scripts.

I've used IMDb for 13 years and I had to make an account for how bad this is.
tommoorepfe28 September 2023
I had low expectations but as a student pilot I was interested in the technical side and what they'd focussed on.

I'll start at 1:48..The lead character checked her fuel by looking at the VSI (indicator which shows how quickly you're climbing or descending) and then a frame in which the altitude showed just above 0 (which the filmmakers could change by turning a dial to show a convincing height) the airspeed also says 0...so they're not moving, the fuel lever is all the way out and there was no key in the ignition...Jesus who made this. Also both fuel tanks show as empty and the artificial horizon is showing either a right bank or they've turned the horizon to the left but either way it's wrong because she's turning it left and it should tilt the other way. Literally everything in the shot is wrong, she also pushed forward so hard she would've got at least -1g for a second when it's supposed to be normal turn.

30 seconds later she takes the aircraft off with the mixture handle fully ICO (this happens multiple times as I'm watching), and for anyone without aviation knowledge, this means no fuel is being sent to the engine, no fuel, no engine, no take off...honestly this is just terrible, don't watch it, it's painful in every way.

Oh also, it seems the same cringe story of a city boy who comes to the remote place and falls in love with the girl, incredibly makes the Christmas channel films look like Love Actually. I'll never finish this film.

So bad
gemmatreweek3 October 2023
Possibly the worst movie I've ever watched.

Don't waste your time watching it. Story line was unrealistic and just didn't really make sense logically, and the acting wasn't great. It was all very cringe. Positive was seeing some of the beautiful Australian landscapes. It was nice to see delta acting again and she wasn't bad, however her character was ridiculous. I disliked that the father in the movie was made to seem so incompetent during the storm seen. Just so many cringe moments. Cringe cringe cringe. Do not waste your time watching. . . I'm not sure why or how movie actually got made because it is so bad!!!!!

Better than Most Romance Movies
writecam17 February 2024
Having seen hundreds of romance movies, I feel qualified to comment when I see one that stands out. I liked the central couple and found their chemistry genuine even if it may have been amplified for her because of her limited dating pool and more believable for him because he is looking for passion in his life and is naturally drawn to hers. As far as the other elements needed for success, they are all present: Interesting and humorous supporting characters - check; parents whose actions are affecting the plot - check; and external circumstances that create challenges and are also interesting - check. Surprising bonuses: incredible scenery in a part of the world not often seen in U. S. romance movies and exciting flying sequences. One downside: business factors are not realistic, but who wants to think about work during a romance move.? Give this one a look if you are in the mood for romance.

Lead female is a nightmare
ckred-187641 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I wish the mechanic was the lead cuz she was at least likeable! The lead female came off as a pretentious spoiled rich girl when her circumstances were obviously otherwise. The pounds of polished make up! She was unlikable, without personality and the lead male who wasn't exactly a great actor but was at least like able and cute, could do much better than her. Lives the Aussie dad and female mechanic. Lead female tanked the movie. Takes more than pretty with a pound of make up and wishing to be Giselle. I took me a while to tel w lead male and his boss were father son. Bad chemistry there too. And I'm cyclones are any tornadoes that just pop up....

No worth a second
herrdavidmaerz1 October 2023
Trite, cheap, no budget and no emotion. Absolutely bad and predictable. I can really only recommend everyone to stay far away from this garbage. The characters don't develop at all, the protagonists are flat stereotypes and show no emotions. The movie is predictable and the plot line is so thin that you don't really know if there is a story line at all. With most of the flying shots, you can only assume it's green screen And the cutscenes come from a stock library. There are beautiful images and shots to admire. The protagonist's makeup is exceptionally beautiful more positive I really can't say about it.
