The Real Story: Jaws (2011)
*** 1/2 (out of 4)
The Real Story is an interesting series that takes a look at popular Hollywood movies and then discusses the real events that led to them.
Steven Spielberg's JAWS is the main focus here as we get to hear about the 1916 cases that influenced the film. In the summer of 1916 there were numerous attacks across the Jersey Shore that to this day people still debate on what type of shark was the killer. This documentary does an extremely good job at talking about the events that happened this summer and what influence they had on Spielberg's masterpiece. There are some great interviews with shark experts and the re-enactments are also pretty good. We also get a brief bit of history about Frank Mundus, the man rumored to have inspired the Quint character. If you're a fan of JAWS then you've probably seen countless documentaries on the film but this one here is certainly worth watching.
