Donald Trump, if you take it from him, is cherishing the opportunity to stand trial on criminal charges related to a hush-money payment to a porn star. “I’m very proud to be here,” he told reporters before heading into court on Monday, calling the proceedings an “assault on America” that his presence, presumably, would serve to expose. “I’m very honored to be here,” the former president added.
Trump hasn’t been taking to martyrdom very well behind the scenes, though, three sources with knowledge of the matter tell Rolling Stone.

Scripted formats were placed front and center of BBC Studios’ panel at Series Mania, as the Doctor Who seller confirmed it is making up to three more versions of Ghosts and has bought Spain’s Brutal Media.
One of the hit BBC show’s creators, Simon Farnaby, recently told a podcast the show – which has achieved smash ratings on CBS in the U.S. – is being remade in Germany and Spain.
Matt Forde, who runs BBC Studios Global Entertainment, confirmed “there are two or three other versions in the works.”
“We love those shows and love the UK versions,” said Forde. “We are finding ways into these worlds in local creative communities.” Ghosts was recently renewed for a fourth CBS season, although the BBC version has ended.
Deadline revealed recently that BBC Studios’ deal with Lionsgate, which spawned the likes of Ghosts, had elapsed, but Forde was bullish about the scripted formats game.

BBC Studios on Wednesday unveiled that it has acquired Spanish producer Brutal Media, adding another banner to its growing production network. The U.K. public broadcaster’s commercial arm said the deal will enable it “to respond to the increased appetite for BBC content from Spanish audiences and support Brutal Media’s ambitions to export original creative IP from Spain to the wider international market.”
Financial terms weren’t disclosed.
Brutal Media founders Raimon Masllorens and Nèlida Sanchez will continue to lead the local team. BBC Studios’ Isabel Durán, format sales director for the region, will transition to the new position of head of entertainment within the Brutal Media team.

Looks like fourth time is truly a charm for Jimmy Kimmel and the Academy Awards.
Back hosting the Oscars for the second year in a row and the fourth time overall, the ABC Late Night front man took a show where most of the big winners were pretty predictable and gave it some much needed bite. “See kids, sometimes smoking is fine,” Kimmel quipped after Da’Vine Joy Randolph won her Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her cigarette imbibing role in The Holdovers.
Sometimes kids, it’s worth packing a punch — as the Academy Awards proved Sunday.

Kathy Chow, a leading Hong Kong acting star of the 1990s, has died. She was 57.
The news was carried by Hong Kong’s public broadcaster Rthk and in a Weibo social media posting by Chow mother. She died on Monday from Lupus Erythematosus.
Chow (aka Chow Hoi Mei and Zhou Hai-mei) claimed to be of ethnic Manchu descent. Ashe was Miss Hong Kong pageant participant in 1985 and moved into entertainment as both a singer and actress.
Her early years were attached to Hong Kong’s leading broadcaster Television Broadcasts (Tvb), starring in popular series Time Before Time, Breaking Point and Looking Back in Anger.
Later she switched allegiance and joined rival broadcaster Atv staying with it until 2001, before focusing her attention more fully on new opportunities in mainland China.
In 2008, however, she appeared in Tvb’s sequel to “The Academy” and “On the First Beat.”
