Text: There is a clear development taking place underneath the surface, which is that evil in the small corners is creeping and growing larger to encompass us all! The horror aesthetic we have been waiting for really shone through in this episode. There have been very few other scenes in the series that had me as shocked; I could barely watch through the raccoon incident, it was on the verge of offensive (yet that is what makes a horror). AHS is back to its old tenet of anachronisms, that is, attributing qualities to historical characters or events with no footing in reality. Without spoiling it, the link to Apocalypse has now officially been consolidated.
After a minor hiccup last episode, Siobhan did much better this time! She is no angel or saint- that much is obvious, and her...activities with Hamish make us question her even more.
The Ashleys are perfectly dreadful, and it is obvious that they would happily bring about the end of times. Blond Leslie is especially menacingly amusing. Demons make the best jokesters apparently.
Character unlikability is still a major issue, and now we have Dexter's mother to irritate us even more! I did not deem it possible for anyone to be more of a nuisance than Dexter, yet here we are.
Pacing! Coherence! Work needs to be done to ensure that there is suspense throughout the episode, and that events are linked to one another. Plot unity has been an issue throughout the entire series.
Still, I must admit that this episode is a significant improvement from the last. 76/100 (from 63).
