Hape Kerkeling, Angelika Milster and Judy Winter are reprising their roles from the original movie from 1995.
The license plate of Edwin's bus says "HER-JE 744". On one side it is a reference that the bus is licensed in Herne, Northrhein Westfalia and on the other hand it is a wordplay on the German term "Herrje", which in English means "Oh dear" or "Crumbs".
Edwin's undercover name is "Olaf", which is how he introduced himself to Änne, Björn etc.. Hape Kerkeling, who played Edwin, is the German voice-Actor for Olaf in "Frozen" and "Frozen II".
In the first episode Edwin is singing the greeting song from the original movie.
Matthias Lamp who a supporting cast in this movie died in the age of 41 after a short but hard disease, shortly after the the show was filmed. This TV series is dedicated to him. The closing credits said "In memory of Matthias 'Matze' Lamp".
