Tom and Noah's vastly different lives intercut. As they text, Noah recounts witnessing homophobia and violence at a football game. Resolving that their lives are too different, Noah rejects Tom.
Noah comes to Tom to return his keys - they meet Tom's neighbour Issy outside the apartment. They want to make their relationship work, but Noah is afraid of Tom's violence.
Noah helps Tom pick his outfit for his appearance on The Footy Show. Tom lets Noah take a photo of him. Tom wrestles with his career and relationship responsibilities, and asks Noah to move in with him.
A slightly tone-deaf AFL pride ad plays. Tom chastises Noah for making fun of it, revealing he was offered a spot in the ad. Tom opens up a package - a new dildo for them to enjoy. Noah misses a call from his Ma.
Dildo night goes south when Noah gets some news - his mother has left her husband and wants to reconnect. Meanwhile, Tom is asked to do more publicity.
Pressure mounts as Tom's renewal hangs in the balance. He is paranoid that Issy is catching on to his relationship with Noah. Noah renovates Tom's spare bedroom for his mum, but Tom won't let her stay.
At a footy function, we meet Tom's mum Maria, shooing off wannabee WAGs. Maria meets Noah and Sophia, and Tom wedges himself into the conversation to avoid any mistakes, disappointing Noah.
Noah spends the evening with his mother in her hotel room, they begin the work of healing their past. He confesses he is dating another man, but that man is unwilling to come out. Sophia advises him to be true to himself.
Tom is furious with Noah for jeopardising their private relationship. Noah tells Tom he looks like his abusive father. As Noah flees to the bathroom, Tom receives a devastating phone call.
Tom prepares for The Brownlow, and tells Noah that he loves him. Noah says it back. Now alone, Noah hears a knock on the door - it's Issy, with a bottle of Vodka.
Drinking and watching the Brownlow together, Noah and Issy chat like old friends. Issy imparts some wisdom to Noah. Meanwhile, Tom braves the red carpet with his mum.
Tom tells Noah he's retiring from football. He got the role and the pay he wanted, but made the decision for him and his relationship with Noah. Distraught, Noah flees.
Tom follows Noah out of the building, running into his mother. Noah can't accept Tom's ultimatum of relationship or footy. In his talk with Noah, he inadvertently comes out to his mother. At an impasse, Noah leaves.
