Yellow is the color of the school of enlisted students. Black is the color of school windows that are painted black when students die in battle.
The film started to be shot on February 19-20, the start date of the Battle of Gallipoli. This date was set to give the actors the same spirit, but in February 2012 there was an incredible cold and snowfall in Yalova, which was the shooting location. There were actors in danger of freezing during filming. Even though the film had problems with the shooting technique and cost, its subject, music and spirit were appreciated. The historical visuals at the beginning of the movie were prepared in consultation with historians. The screening of the movie coincided with the Gezi protests and was seen very little.
