- Raghu Ram (Sushant Singh Rajput) is a tourist guide in Jaipur who doubles up as a rental Baraati for Goyal (Rishi Kapoor), a wedding planner. Raghu himself is getting married & has hired Goyal to provide his rental Baraat. Raghu is experiencing before marriage jitters. Raghu is angry since he booked the premium package with Goyal and wanted at least 2-3 well-dressed English-speaking girls as part of his wedding procession to impress his in-laws.
While preparing for departure, Raghu meets Gayatri (Parineeti Chopra), an open minded, free willed, independent woman who lives life on her own terms. Gayatri is a fake Baraati hired by Goyal for Raghu's procession. Gayatri is a "premium' guest who charges Rs 4000 for a 2-day attendance at a wedding.
On the bus, Gayatri sits next to Raghu, and both get talking. Raghu shares how he is unsure about getting married. Gayatri talks about her numerous boyfriends, she smokes, and Raghu feels he is compatible with Gayatri. Raghu says Gayatri is complete opposite to him. Raghu kisses Gayatri on the way to the wedding. Mausaji (Rajesh Sharma) is the main organizer of the wedding from the bride's side. The girl, whom Raghu is marrying was an orphan. The groom and the bride are ready to exchange garlands and Raghu can see that his prospective bride is breathtakingly beautiful. An already confused Raghu, heavily impressed by her freedom, gathers the guts to run away from his own wedding.
A fortnight later, Gayatri and Raghu two meet. Raghu convinces Gayatri that he felt something while kissing her, and that some people go through their entire life without feeling anything. He says that has he gotten married, he would have ruined his own life and the life of the girl he was marrying. Raghu convinces Gayatri that there is something between them which is worth exploring. They begin dating. They enter into a live-in relationship.
Mr. Gupta (Tarun Vyas) is a typical Desi neighbor of Gayatri, who catches Raghu with Gayatri and later creates some confusion in Raghu's mind by telling him about how things got very serious between Gayatri and her last boyfriend. Gayatri even got pregnant but decided to get an abortion & to get rid of the boyfriend rather than to get married. Gayatri is hurt by Raghu hinting at obscure allegations at her after talking to Gupta. She clarifies that it was her boyfriend who betrayed her and not the other way around.
But still the Raghu and Gayatri decide to get married. On the day of the wedding, Gayatri runs out on him, and Raghu is left inconsolably confused.
Soon after, at her brother's wedding, Raghu meets Tara (Vaani Kapoor), the woman he was going to tie the knot with, before he met Gayatri. She asks him out initially on a revenge trip but slowly their relationship turns serious. Tara admits that she came to Jaipur to take her revenge on Raghu and make him realize how it feels when someone close leaves without any explanation. Tara has a firm belief that men do not appreciate what they get easily in life. Raghu will never appreciate a woman like Tara, because she agreed to marry him, but will pursue her when she is not interested in him. Raghu charms Tara and eventually has sex with her. Just as Raghu is about to ask Tara to marry him at a wedding, he runs into Gayatri.
Tara's mom sends Raghu and Gayatri to finish a task of fetching the priest from the railway station. On the way Gayatri tries to talk to Raghu but he is reluctant. Gayatri says that Raghu was going to run away on the day of their wedding, so she preempted him. When they return at dinner Raghu finds Tara and Gayatri sitting on the same table. Tara tells him that she invited Gayatri to dinner on Sunday. Raghu gingerly makes an excuse for the bathroom. Gayatri follows him and they both confess their love for each other. While they are hugging Tara arrives and catches them in the act. Tara leaves while Raghu and Gayatri are compelled by Goyal to accept that they love each other and that they should marry.
Again, on the night of marriage Gayatri and Raghu run into each other at the main gate while both are running from getting married. Lastly both find each other at Gayatri's home where Raghu says that he truly loves Gayatri, but he does not want to be imprisoned by getting married. They both kiss and enter the home.
