Multiple shots are "crane" shots created by director Jason Scott driving through areas on a Segway while filming and then removing shaking in post-processing.
Roughly 230 hours of footage were shot during the DEFCON convention, a span of about 5 days.
DEFCON has traditionally disallowed the sort of global filming of attendees and events as appears in the documentary. To mitigate this situation, the documentary crew wore bright orange vests with the word DOCUMENTARY on front and back, as well as the crew names, to enable attendees to see the crew was active and indicate they didn't want to be in the film, or to turn away from the filming.
Three primary crew pairs (sound and video) recorded the event, as well as Jason Scott and Rachel Lovinger, who each did interviews and shots. Additionally, Jason Scott filmed over 40 interviews throughout the country in the months leading up to DEFCON.
