One of the best youtuber created movies/show I have seen
christianfstudio19 March 2015
It is amazing to see what youtubers such as Joey Graciffa go so far. Starting out making goofy videos with friends in his bedroom and backyard to gaining a huge fan base and making a professional movie/show. I have to say I am very happy with the results of this movie/show. Having back this movie/show in 2013 I am very pleased with the results. Having this feeling of achievement knowing that my money did not go to waste and made such a outstanding movie/show like this one. This movie/show has an amazing story line and all I can do is wait patiently for the second one to come out, if the second one is anything like the first I know for a fact that it will be a great film.

very good start

I honestly believe this is a very good start for young actors who appeared for the first time in a web series.I really enjoyed it a lot!I have always been a fan of mysterious, slightly scary stories and this one is as good as others before.I am impressed by the talent of Joey Graceffa who is not just another beautiful face.He can actually sing, act and host his own you tube channel with an amazing charisma never seen before.I really hope for the Storrytellers 2 and 3 and 4 and 10 to happen:)..As for the sequel I believe it can be better as every show is when they invest more money and work it out more. So,i recommend this one for shur as something worth watching for fun.

Freaking Awesome

Warning: Spoilers
I've been watching Joey's videos for a while and decided to watch the "Storytellers." Let me tell you, IT WAS WORTH IT! I absolutely loved it. I started watching it thinking, "Oh a small mini series, cool" but ended up being "This is awesome. When's the next season?!?" The entire time I was on the edge of my seat wait to see what happens. When they started talking about the Fire Witch, I kept saying who it was over and over and when they revealed it I jumped up and down saying "I KNEW IT!!" The huge plot twist of Cecilia being bad was amazing. I can't wait for the next season to come out!! Strongly recommend watching this!! I loved it.

It's basically "Are You Afraid Of The Dark?"'s worst script ever.
ineptsoul890730 January 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Dialogue was flat and unnatural. Mai: "Let's go outdoors."? Who says that over "Let's go outside."? Even trying to justify it as it being 'not her' when she says it would be a weak attempt.

The series just jumps in and expects viewers to grasp the fine details of characters' relationships to one another and already be aware of finer character traits. I understand that dropping the introduction from a production is a simple way to save time and money while effectively increasing the tempo of the film, but this series fell WELL short of doing it successfully.

Script aside, the production aspects were fantastic. Shots were very clean and well composed. Post-production work was excellent: color grading was appropriate and consistent, VFX were not overstated and distracting, scenes were well scored.

It's hard to judge acting on terrible dialogue and even more difficult when the plot is full of holes and presented ineffectively, but I would say that the acting was no worse than the script.

Again, the script could be summarized as such: Good concept, insufficient information, terrible dialogue, ineffective presentation.

Terrible writing, and terrible acting that leaves you confused
thedisturbedhedgehog21 January 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Storytellers is the worst web series I have ever seen.

Storytellers is suppose to be mash up of "Are you afraid of the dark", meets "Skins", (UK version). Each episode starts off when one of the characters, sitting around the campfire tells a story. Strangely enough, the story that they tell, seems to be about them and their P.O.V. One thing that made this series so terrible is that each episode is suppose to intertwine with one another, but sadly it only leaves most audience viewers confused.

After watching Storytellers these are the questions I was left with:

If these people are suppose to be such great friends telling stories around the campfire, why do they display such seriousness around one another?

If the stories they are telling are about a REAL situation that happened to them, then why are they re-telling the story to the people they experienced it with??

Why did Celia turn evil? Why did she fight with Hunter near the end? (I still didn't quite understand why she wanted to kill him)

These are just some of the questions looming in my mind after watching such a god awful web series. Whitney Milam, who wrote the series really needs to look back and truly ask herself, "was this good?" Because the writing didn't flow, some of the dialogue did not drive the story further, or make much sense. Also the acting was terrible. Joey Graceffa who plays, Hunter Crawley as the main destroyed what could have actually been good if he had not taken the role.

Hunter's character is suppose to be mysterious, ominous, bad boy. Instead, every time he speaks, we hear a bit of femininity break through his "tough demeanor."

Either way this web series will get mostly positive reviews because of the fan base Joey has. Most of his viewers are prepubescent girls who have no concept of what a good story, and what good acting is. Instead they'll look past Joey's terrible acting skills and see something fantastic.

Bad Script , bad acting and bad directing!
polyvios_9913 January 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Sure Storytellers may have an interesting plot but the actors surely play unconvincingly and the script is cheesy and very shallow. The whole 1st season is 60 minutes long and in every episode events are getting repeated from the episode before!(in episode 5 the scene with Mai and her mother talking about the demon hunter group adds nothing new to the story really it is just copycat from the episode before)

Every episode is supposed to be the point of view of one character but that is not true at all! We can see stuff happening that the POV character could have never known at the moment ( for example in episode 4 we can see Mai and her mother discussing about the secret demon hunters group while the POV character Finn couldn't have known their conversation.)

The male lead (Joey Graceffa) doesn't convince as a bad boy that gets all the girls guy! The plot is not that unique but it could have turned out much better than it already is!

This web series was terrible
Apcrocks823 January 2014
My review of this web series is basically a lot of what thedisturbedhedgehog said in his review. The web series was quite confusing as the stories were supposed to mix together but it was never really clear how the stories mixed together.

One big issue I have with Storytellers is how everyone wants a Season two. Let's be real here, most of the people asking for a season two only want one because they are fans of Joey and want to support him. What is even worse is people who say that Joey should be on television or the series should be on television. First off, just by being in one acting role (let's be honest here, The Amazing Race is not an acting role) does not mean you are good enough to be on television. There are so many actors who are in many movies (who do not deserve the amount of credit they are given) who most people have probably never heard of. Yet everyone fangirls over someone who had never acted before this web series.

The whole campfire aspect confused me. It just seemed so unreal. If you are sitting around a campfire with your friends, more than likely you will be telling funny stories or laughing and having a good time. Sure, you may tell some scary stories but everyone's story will be completely different. Yet, in this series all the stories involved the same characters and overall plot.

Another problem with the series was that there was no character development. When the series began, the "friends" were already sitting around the campfire. How did they become friends? What led them to all sit around a campfire and tell stories? How old are these people? Are they spending a camping trip in the woods? I felt like I knew nothing about the campfire characters (notice I said campfire characters, not the story characters). Even the story characters had very little character development (really no background on any of the characters).

When someone advertises something they are producing or starring in, and makes it enticing enough to get a lot of people to watch it, or to get a lot of hype around whatever it is they are promoting, it should at least be "good". It should at least look like time was taken to fully create what is being promoted. Yet, that was not the case.

I thought that the actual actors/actresses in the series, (Jake Thomas and Devyn Smith) were the best in the series. Why? They have had experience in acting before).

The biggest fail of the series was the ending. The series ended with a cliffhanger. That is a huge problem considering there is a chance the series will not be picked up for a season two. How will the show end if there happens to be no season two? I was excited to watch this series, mainly because Joey Graceffa kept mentioning it and got my hopes up. I do not watch many web series (although I have wanted to) so I was happy that one was being made with him as the lead actor. My feelings about the series turned from excited to sad once the series came out.

A lesson for Joey and the other cast and crew members, perhaps next time you should not give a project so much hype in case it is a fail or turns out badly. If you give a project a lot of positive hype, people are going to expect it to be good. If the project ends up being bad, well, then you have a project like Storytellers...and no one wants a project like storytellers.
