- Barney and Robin try to have sex before the elderly wedding guests arrive, Ted reveals a list to Lily of things to do before he leaves New York, and Marshall has problems traveling through Packer Country.
- As both Robin and Barney's elderly relatives start to arrive in Farhamptom, both openly muse about their relatives' lives and that they are probably no longer doing it after all these years. So Robin and Barney decide they need to have sex one more time before marriage ruins the magic of the act. Locked out of their suite without any way to get to the lobby to get another key before they are spotted by said relatives who they know won't leave them alone once they see them, they try to find someplace - anyplace - in the inn to have that last pre-marriage sex without being spotted by any of the relatives. Lily comes across a list Ted has written about all the things he wants to do in New York before he moves to Chicago, that fact which Lily still is the only of his friends that know. They discuss many aspects of the list, primarily the only thing not yet checked off and the overall nature of the list. And as Marshall and Daphne drive through Wisconsin, Marshall can't help but show his disdain for the state neighboring his beloved Minnesota.—Huggo
- On Friday at 2:00 PM, 52 hours before the wedding, Lily discovers Ted's list of things he wants to do in New York before he moves to Chicago. Things like having a drink with his favorite students, see one last sunset over the Hudson, fix graffiti on 96th and Amsterdam, say goodbye to the empire state building, buy the bar a round of drinks, reveal his true feelings to the bombshell who lives right above Ted's apartment, come clean about April 26th, and so on. She becomes frustrated that she is the only person who knows about his plans. As she goes through the items on the list, Lily makes Ted realize that his list is actually just proof of how much he loves New York. She notes that the only item on Ted's list that he has not accomplished is having one last scotch with Barney and forces Ted to admit that he has been avoiding Barney and Robin since the day he tried to help Robin find her locket at the carousel.
Ted reserved a 30-year-old scotch for his drink with Barney. But Lily remembers that she and Robin destroyed it during their sword-fight. To hide their mistake, they switched the label on a cheap bottle of whiskey and transferred whatever scotch they could salvage to the cheap bottle. They have to add some chocolate syrup, hand sanitizing lotion and ketchup to get the colors exactly right. Ted decides to take one sip of the 30-year-old scotch, without knowing it is the fake bottle and finds it breath-taking.
When Lily discovers that an earlier sword-fight by Ted and Marshall (on April 26th) destroyed a special dress she was planning to wear at the rehearsal dinner. She punishes them, especially Marshall as his road trip with Daphne brings them to Wisconsin. Marshall hates Packer's country and is trying to get through by wearing a Viking's outfit and sharing Vikings trivia with Daphne, who does not care about football at all. As punishment, Ted has to wear a sailor outfit hanging at the wall of the wedding venue bar. Marshall has to wear a Packers outfit as his punishment.
Robin arrives and finds the list which Lily claims is all the things she wants to do before leaving for Rome. At some point during their conversation, Lily and Robin reveal that they broke the 30-year-old Glen McKenna (costing $600) in their sword-fight on April 26th.
To make up for her mistake, Lily steals the exact same bottle of 30 year old scotch from the liquor store of the resort they are staying in. Lily convinces Ted to say goodbye to all the bad things since the good things will always be waiting for him.
Meanwhile, Robin and Barney realize they have very little time together before their elderly relatives arrive for their wedding. Worried that the drive and passion in their relationship will fade away after they are married, they look for a place to have sex one last time. They are locked out of their room and now the relatives are pouring into the hotel, so there aren't any free spaces. They find the ice machine closet and find James hiding in there. When they see Robin's great-grandparents are still ready to jump each other even after 60 years of marriage, they stop worrying that their relationship will become dull and argumentative and decide to face their relatives.
Ted finally decides to stop avoiding Barney and goes with a bottle and two glasses to meet Barney. Before Ted can offer the scotch, Barney reveals that he had seen Ted and Robin at the carousel where she had been looking for her missing locket.
