This edition was the second most-watched programme on UK television, just beaten by Stéphane Grappelli (1979), which achieved viewing figures of 17.1 million to Blankety Blank's 16.9.
Terry references having flu during the episode, claiming that it makes his voice even "more sexy".
Reference is made to Episode #1.3 (1979) when Terry discovers that Lorraine Chase has a dictionary with her. Saying "it's all Michael Parkinson's fault, isn't it?", Lorraine replies "I know... 'cos he said I was useless".
Contestant Glenys Willis looks uncomfortable when Paul Daniels holds up a sign asking for her number, and repeatedly mouths the words "I love you", before Terry jokes that he'll take as long as possible to explain the rules (as he has his arm around her). It's notable that when Glenys is given a choice of three panellists to help her, she doesn't choose Paul.
Anna Dawson refers to one of her fellow panellists as "Goosey", while pointing behind her. While it's possible she was indicating Peggy Mount, it's almost certain she was referring to Derek Griffiths - though why she calls him "Goosey" is never explained.
