Marvelously Refreshing
xbacon28 January 2024
The series hits the importance typically missed about something which lies at the core of human history. First, I was marvelously pleased at the cast. Dan Aykroyd, in spite of his preference to vodka, is always a magnificent presence. Jim Belushi, Jon Lovitz, Kevin Neilon and George Wendt who I loved in "Cheers." How could you go wrong? Covers a full range of beverages including even soda pop, where they made one of few mistakes in claiming that Coca Cola is Coca Cola, wherever it is made it's all the same. Sadly America has figured out a way to ruin it, by substituting corn syrup for sugar. Go out an buy a Mexican Coca Cola and you'll be amazed! Be that as it may, the program is filled with interesting wisdom presented artfully by these characters. At one point Akyroyd actually borders on conservatism when he.says, "Once.something emerges that's useful and fun, the government gets involved.. And pretty soon beer was taxed, and beer bureaucrats popped up. Like everything fun, beer got regulated." Sad truth. In any case, even if you don't care a hoot about adult beverages, this series is well worth the watch. Outstanding.

Refreshing in a time flat tv shows

Just watched the first episode. And, well,,,, its great. Most things you watch today are either good or good enough, sadly that's about it. This pole vaulted above and beyond good straight to great!

Not only entertaining but also informative. I ;earned somethings about beer that i didn't know.

The show has dan pouring beers to his buddies jim and george. It almost has the feeling that you are a patron a few stools away eavesdropping in on the conversation. The guys are funny and humorous in a natural way, just like friends sitting in a bar having a good time cant wait to see other episodes.

Well worth a watch!

A Series With a Great Aftertaste

Excellent Series!

A History of the World in Six Glasses is funny, entertaining, and educational. Add to this the guys we all know and love: Blues Brothers Danny Akroyd & Jim Belushi, fellow SNL alums Jon Lovitz & Keven Nealon, plus our Beer-lovin' Barfly George "Norm" Wendt. I would be remiss if I failed to mention Rob Long the series Writer and Director was a Writer and EP of Cheers.

The show Is based on the Tom Standage book of the same title. The hosts and guests drink their way through history explaining how man moved from Caves to Cities, from an Agrarian society to an Automated Industrial economy. They teach how each of the Six Glasses, Beer, Spirits, "Soda" but we Southerners call 'em Cokes, Wine, Tea, and Coffee evolved and its impact on society.

This show alone is worth a month's Streaming fee on Fox Nation.

Watch this Series with your friends.

Semper Fi.

Extremely disappointing

I was looking forward to this for quite some time and was extremely disappointed. Should be retitled "History of the Drinking World from 3 Asses". It is unfathomable to me how such great comedic minds could not even make me laugh once in 6 episodes. They provide absolutely nothing to the show. The times where the author or the other experts are talking is enjoyable, but I'd recommend fast forwarding all the parts where the 3 "comedians" are talking. I couldn't believe how little they knew about the subject. I couldn't believe how horrible Aykroid was at making drinks in a bar that he owns! Jon Lovitz was the "guest star" for the coffee episode and didn't even like coffee, barely drank any, and made faces when drinking it. They actually spit out and made fun of what is considered the best beer in the world. Kevin Nealon is the only 1 who made me slightly chuckle. I feel bad for the author of the book.
