In the 2nd to last scene where Adam is walking outside his house and the bus pulls away and he notices Dana across the street, the interaction and lines the two exchanged were the same as one of the final scenes from Sixteen Candles (1984) where Jake was in the parking lot waiting for Samantha after the wedding.
The real footage included in this episode shows Beverly brushing her hair in front of a mirror wearing the ring and the words "Murray really gave Beverly a used ring...and she still wears it to this day".
Real 1980s footage at the end of this episode, where the writer dedicates the episode to the real Barry, his brother, shows the writer and his brother on the grass next to a wall and a fence. This is pretty certainly next to the tennis courts by the real Jenkintown High School and Middle School in Jenkintown, PA, the writer's hometown, where the show is set.
The song played during the final scene is 1986s "In Your Eyes", by Peter Gabriel.
