Georg Riedel was born in 1934 in Czechoslovakia. Four years later, he fled with his mother and sister to Sweden. He came to be one of Swedish music's absolute greatest, with the music for "Emil i Lönneberga" and "Pippi Långstrump" perhaps the most famous. He has the most registered works on STIM (Svenska Tonsättares Internationella Musikbyrå). His songs for children are among the most sung in Sweden, but his music includes everything from jazz, church music and works for symphony orchestra.
