Sex & Nudity

  • A woman discusses her discontent toward sex with her husband with a lesbian woman. The first woman then kisses the lesbian intensely.
  • Some men wearing small sexualised clothes in a dance club; a woman pulls an unrealistic dildo out of a drawer and says "What's this?" before collapsing into laughter; a group of women reading a gay porn magazine you can see 2 pictures of naked men (The first part of the scene there is a quick gimps of the two men but in the next scene she turns the book around and you can see the mans penis).

Violence & Gore

  • Two men yell at a collective including gay people, and they are violently pushed outside of the building by another man. The man then threatens them if they return.
  • A brick and some fireworks are thrown in through a window of a gay bookshop. (Homophobic.)
  • Later a man is strongly implied to have been beaten in a homophobic attack.
  • A woman launches herself at another woman in anger, but is restrained.
  • Brief footage of police clashing with crowds during the Miner's Strike of 1984-5

Profanity

  • 12 uses of 'fuck' (and 1 partial), 6 uses of variants of 'hell', 4 uses of 'shit', 2 uses each of 'bollocks, 'bastard', 'dyke', 'poof' and 'queers', and 1 use each of 'faggot', 'dick', 'pissed', 'arse', 'asshole', 'Christ Jesus', and prick. 'Bloody' is used frequently, especially after the first Act.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Alcohol and Tobacco usage is displayed throughout with a few references to Marijuana but none visually shown on screen and no direct indication of drug usage only slang for the drug such as "grass". Characters are shown drunk once or twice throughout.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Although not a main theme of the film, the fear of AIDS and homophobia looms throughout.
