The plot thickens.

Warning: Spoilers
A well written, directed and acted episode. Crowley is addicted to human blood, and the boys need the Blade of Cain for a mission. Crowley finds the blade and the Boys have an opportunity to payback Crowley. A fast paced episode with a good mix of humor and action. Humor is applied when the audience needs a release form the story's tension. Sheppard excellently portrays the evil, slick Crowley character, with the added intellectual humorist quids. Blade Runners is another cut and paste story but ends strongly with a few surprises. One sees the Blade's effects on Dean. A harbinger of future events. What are Crowley's plans with the Blade of Cain?

Interesting

The antagonist is pretty good but it leaves a lot open like why do Dean and Sam not do spells, there is a spell to not aging which is a huge deal, what's the difference between this and witches. I think there lore on witches is pretty weak and arbitrary as it is. Anyway i liked the new villain. What i did not like was the demin politics same as angel politics. While i didn't care for the angel side because uts simply boring this is just senseless because apparently demons don't kill and that stupid demon in the beginning. Stop. Make people not dumb again i guess. Really picks up the pace tho.

Shut UP Sam....

Warning: Spoilers
I thought this was a pretty interesting episode (I'm bingeing through the series 1st time) until Sam, who has been driving me crazy and actually ruining recent episodes for me, got obsessed with killing Crowley...what the hell! They probably will need him to kill Abbadon, plus he's a fun character, so I cringed every time baby Sammy pushed Dean to kill him.

I'm guessing Dean is acting weird because when crazy Magnus forced him to hold the first blade, it triggered something in him that he can't stop now. Also his brother is a whiny brat. Sam is the reason Crowley took the blade, they should have been happy they got it but Sam immediately loudly whispers "Dean you said we were gonna kill him!!" And Dean turned like he was still dazed by the spell Magnus did on him, and what holding the blade did to him, but of Crowley saw & heard everything and so took the blade.

Good one Sam! But I understand you have to stay angry at Dean, because he did you dirty by saving your life....

Maybe could have been two episodes but good otherwise

I think there was a possibility of splitting this into two stories-the first about getting Crowley off human blood, being a junkie and the second about Magnus, finding the first blade. As it is now it is ends being a solid way to more the season forward while giving Sheppard something to play-which of course he does well-and creating different set-ups for common scenes. This episode plays a lot of different notes of the various tropes of the series and stands out among the mythos heavy episodes.

Cut-and-Paste

Warning: Spoilers
Sam and Dean find Crowley, who is currently addicted to blood, and have him help them continue the search for the First Blade.

This episode had some things I enjoyed, but also some things I disliked. I'm not quite sure what it is, but the majority of the episode didn't quite keep me on the edge of my seat or even hold my interest entirely. The first half of the episode consisted of Crowley, played by the brilliant Mark Sheppard, injecting himself with blood, and then just a lot of Sam, Dean and Crowley traveling from point A to B to C with no transitioning or memorable scenes between. They'd be at one location, then have some revelation as to where to go next, and then suddenly be at the next necessary point. It felt a bit like a huge cut-and-paste episode. The last ten minutes of the episode were honestly the best part, and I wish the writers had managed to build up the excitement leading to this moment.

Once again, the writers seem to be treating Castiel as some ghost of a character, who is only mentioned once in the entire episode. The brothers don't seem to give a damn where he even is or what he's doing, which seems a bit odd because after the whole incident with Metatron, you'd think they'd want to know what their friend is up to and whether he is safe or not. So, I guess it isn't fair to say that is isn't the brothers who don't care about Cas, it's that the writers themselves didn't care about him enough to make him part of this crucial plot development. So that was unfortunate. (And was it just me, or was the odd sexual tension between Dean and the woman, Dr McElroy, a bit strange and/or unnecessary?)

Now, as I said, there were some parts I enjoyed. I liked the majority of Crowley's scenes, though his parts at the beginning when he's moping around felt like they were dragging on. I liked that Sam and Dean, for the first time in a LONG time, actually worked together as a team and somehow managed to stow their crap temporarily. I also enjoyed several of the scenes between Sam and Crowley, who have a sort of odd 'friendship', or at least Crowley likes to think so. And there is definitely some important development for Dean in the last bit of the episode.

I enjoyed the, albeit short, cameo by Nicole Polizzi, also known as Snooki. It was meant to just be a short comedic addition to the episode, and I felt that it worked well. There was also a new character introduced in this episode: Magnus, played by Kavan Smith, and he did a wonderful job. When he was on screen, my attention was definitely on him, and I was impressed with his performance.

All in all? It wasn't the greatest episode of the season, but it was important to the story and there were definitely some enjoyable parts.

Odd

Warning: Spoilers
Well this was an odd episode. There was quite a bit of new information in this episode that wasn't even hinted at in prior episodes. The biggest of the new information was creating houses that were entirely invisible and undetectable that some guy was kicked out of the men of letters for? Sounds a bit odd don't you think? That guy was getting pretty annoying before he met his end with the first blade, which was pretty cool, but is definitely going to play a toll on Dean before the end of the season. I feel like they should just claim that house and use it as their home if it's not too far away from where they should strictly work at the bunker.
