Good

Despite the bad reviews I thought it was a really good movie. Could it have been better, sure but it still is worth watching. James Welch Henderson Arkansas. 11/04/2021.

Horrible acting

Ok, the movie itself was cute.

The script however , not so much. Normal kids do not talk like these ones.

Terrible

I was trapped by family pressure and had to sit through this nightmare of a movie last Christmas. Dean Cain was a widower who'd lost his wife, with some kids, and they were just trying to make it through life. This was about as far as I was able to pay attention; the acting was deeply terrible and the writing was painfully obvious and cliche-ridden, obliterating my ability to follow the insulting and trite storyline.

There's plenty of great Christmas movies out there that are genuine and enjoyable. This is NOT one of them.

Not a beauty

Part of me really wanted to like 'A Belle for Christmas'. Despite the low rating and that it did not look great, because Christmas is my favourite holiday and Dean Cain is a very watchable actor deserving of far better projects to star/feature in it was still seen anyway. Part of me really wanted to join the more positive reviews here, and have been known to have contrarian opinions in the past so watched it with an open mind aiming to know what to expect.

Even when really trying to not take things seriously and trying to take it for what it is, 'A Belle for Christmas' has a couple of redeeming qualities but overall it didn't work for me at all. Do have to agree with the general consensus of it being terrible. 'A Belle for Christmas' is not one of the worst Christmas films in existence, many others are far worse. Many other Christmas films though are far better and if looking for a festive classic to me this is not one of them.

'A Belle for Christmas' is not completely irredeemable. The soundtrack has some nostalgic moments.

The best thing about the film is the dog, who is absolutely adorable and the only likeable character.

On the other hand, all the debits outweigh them and they are big. Cain goes through the motions and the rest of the cast are either very bland to the point of being personality deprived to deeply irritating. None of the characters feel like real people or are likeable, instead they were one-dimensional caricatures and ones that had not much personality or were annoying. There really was not that much of a script and all the dialogue sounds like bad corny improvisation.

Low budget is evident in the visuals as there was a very rushed look throughout, especially in the flat and quite haphazard photography. The story is also thin as near melted ice and has no real charm or heart, just non-stop cheesiness, excessive schmaltz, convenient contrivances and a dreary pace. There could have been a chance to slightly overlook the predictability but the other story problems are far less easy to forgive. The odd pleasant moment aside, the music generally is forgettable at best.

Very poor film all in all. 2/10.

Enjoyable

I recently watched this as I am a sucker for Christmas films and anything with dogs. I must say that I did enjoy it. The dog was so cute. The young stars were excellent and there were a lot of funny moments. I can recommend it if you are looking for an easy watch.

This movie is awful. How can anyone say this is good? The acting of awful. The writing is awful. The cinematography is awful. I would rather watch an Asylum movie.

Cute cute...

A recently widowed man adopts a puppy for his two young children. However, his new girlfriend takes the little animal with her. Will the kids be able to rescue him on Christmas Eve? A boy and his little sister discover that their new dog has been taken by their father's gold-digging girlfriend, and they enlist their friends to help them save their beloved pup.

Our eternal Clark Kent, beautiful and wonderful... A very cute, simple, cliché and even silly little Christmas movie, adorable for being Christmas for having cute children, and a kut kut puppy, some silly, exaggerated and even poorly made scenes, but people do...

3 Stars exclusively for the puppy!

Shocking film! Stilted acting & amateur script. Especially the way the kids talked,I mean come on,giving them scripts that were more suitable for teenagers or even adults! Embarrassed for Dean Cain & Haylie Duff that they ended up in this movie. They deserve better. Kristy Swanson was atrocious as Buffy and,it seems she had not improved since!! The best acting was from the cute puppy!

This Belle is for anytime, not just Holidays, so cute!

Glenn (Dean Cain) is a widower who lost his lovely wife in a car accident about a year ago. He and his three children are doing okay, amid some tearful memories. What the kids want most is a puppy and they see a great one at an adoption event, where beautiful Kate (Hayley Duff) urges the family to give Belle a permanent home. Dad says no. This is mostly for two reasons. Glenn is afraid his kids will forget their responsibilities once the newness of a puppy has worn off. But, more importantly, Dad has just started seeing a lady, Dani (Kristy Swanson) who is mighty particular about order. Nonetheless, Belle finds a home with Glenn's family, even when Dani turns out to be allergic to doggy fur. Thee three kids are so happy with their pet, healing their hears another notch from their tragedy. But, they underestimate Dani. She wants Glenn to herself, mostly, and she is not going to tolerate this furball long. Will she really try to kick this puppy out of his new home, by devious methods? Well, she might give it a whirl. This darling new Holiday film is for anytime, anywhere, any family. Cain is the Supreme King of family films at the moment while Swanson is a laugh riot as the snooty Dani. Duff and all of the other actors do very nicely. Then, too, Belle the puppy is adorable, while costumes, sets, script, and direction make for one great family flick. Belle-y up to the DVD outlets and get this one pronto.
