Early on in “Tough Love,” Pam, Cam’s sister, wanders into Cam and Mitchell’s house with her baby. She’s barely moving her neck, telling the guys that she pulled a muscle while changing the baby and that she needs to go get a massage to get it all worked out. Cam, being the nice (or gullible, according to Mitchell) guy…

Tyler Perry‘s most famous character, Madea, has appeared in nearly half the director’s films: a gun-toting, “Hallelu-yer”-shouting force of nature, and an outrageous drag tribute to his mother and aunt. But some films in the Madea Cinematic Universe are gleefully manic, while others arrive in what appears to be a half-finished state of sad melodrama and mediocrity. Not counting her cameo appearance in the otherwise Madea-free “Meet the Browns,” or the animated kids offering “Madea’s Tough Love,” here’s where to find maximum Madea mayhem: 7. “Madea’s Witness Protection” To look at box office receipts, this...

Chicago – It occurred to me in assessing “The Little Hours” that the basic premise is somewhat like “The Beguiled” – a man is taken in, rooster-like, into a henhouse where there are women with “needs.” Except this time, instead of a girl’s boarding school, it is a 14th Century nunnery. Get thee to it, if thou wants to laugheth.
Rating: 3.5/5.0
There is basically one premise… the nuns are horny and Dave Franco is willing, or two, if you count that all the participants in the film speak in modern day language, including the frequent throwing of f-bombs. The casting is the key, with the great Aubrey Plaza again stealing many scenes, and the aforementioned Dave Franco’s innocent interaction with his fate, as he gets some action. Throw in Allison Brie, John C. Reilly, Nick Offerman and Fred Armisen (as a Catholic bishop), and this broadside satire of medieval and religiosity does have its moments.

Love guru Patti Stanger is one tough cookie on her hit series Million Dollar Matchmaker. But the 56-year-old reality star found herself in a vulnerable situation in early May when approximately $300,000 in jewelry, clothing and purses were reportedly stolen from her hotel room in Los Angeles.
Stanger, who rose to fame on Bravo’s Millionaire Matchmaker, was filming the new season of her We tv show at the Luxe Sunset Boulevard Hotel when the incident happened, according to TMZ.
Law enforcement sources told the outlet that Stanger wasn’t in the room at the time, but that the alleged thief...

The other day we got our first real look at Marvel and Netflix's The Defenders in their new teaser trailer. There's a lot of cool stuff happening in this video, but everyone here at Lrm came away with several big questions too.
This first teaser provides us with insight into the tone of The Defenders mini-series, the various relationship dynamics, and some pretty cool action too. However, the plot and the stakes are big, open questions (including the absence of a certain other super team that you'd kind of expect to show-up in a massive, citywide war).
Let's break it down...
Whose Team Is Misty On?
When we last saw Luke Cage's Misty Knight (Simone Missick) her NYPD career was on the ropes. Yet, here she is interrogating Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) for bunch of serious crimes. Misty doesn't seem to have much patience for vigilantes, and why should she,...

Morris from America is about xenophobia and stereotypes, bullying, living as expatriates and mourning the death of a wife and mother, but mostly it is about the tenacity carried out with a striking tenderness by Curtis (Craig Robinson), a newly single dad taking care of his teenage boy, Morris (Markees Christmas) in Heidelberg, Germany, where they are, as he puts it to his son, “the only two brothers” here. For Morris this looks like, at his school and youth center, being treated with a partly fetishized fascination by one of his classmates, Katrin (Lina Keller) and with racial slurs by another, and being accused by the teacher of using marijuana before the other kids are considered. Curtis’s world in Germany is professional soccer coaching, the job that relocated them from the States. Curtis’s wife (an absolutely love-of-my-life type of love) has passed away, leaving him with lonely nights...

Welcome to Geeks Vs Loneliness, our place on the site where we try and natter about things in life that may be affecting you, or people around you. No miracle cures are promised, just a few thoughts that we hope may one day prove useful to one or two of you.
This week, we're handing over to Jo Challacombe to chat about The Victim Addiction...
Life hasn’t been easy. Your childhood wasn’t the nurturing environment it should have been and you were given reasons in the past to feel afraid and unloved.
You were blameless and it was unfair.
You were a victim.
Today, you suffer the aftermath of these experiences in some way; anxiety, fear, depression, isolation.
But maybe you are experiencing another effect of the past, one...

Earlier this year, the Thompsons found themselves under internal investigation by Psu for alleged verbal and emotional abuse after a slew of former athletes - from both Psu and Auburn University, where the two previously coached - spoke out about what they called unfair and abusive tactics employed by the Thompsons. Former Penn State gymnast Shealyn Farley previously told People that Rachelle...

I love it when I’m wrong. I love to be put in my place. Tough love, kiddos, is often the best kind of love. So, just a few weeks ago I shouted at the heavens “Why isn’t there a Spotify of comic books yet, damnit?!” And with that, I figured the universe would laugh at me and that would be that. But nay, dear reader! Not even a day had passed with my posting before I was politely pinged by the founder of a newly minted app by the name of Comic Blitz. And thus I’m here to redact my previous cursing of the heavens – to a point.
Comic Blitz is as I’d demanded; an app that collects a multitude of publishers’ work and offers the entirely of their expanding catalog to the public for a small monthly fee. At the time I cracked open my...

No one ever said parenting would be easy, but how easy can it be when the state is watching you and waiting for a screw-up? Is any home perfect? Is any family? And are we holding some people to a higher standard because they have an open file with Child Protective Services or Family Court? All good questions, and before you answer yes to that last one, let’s consider the case of Patrick Brown in Seattle and Hannah Siddique in New York City, as they are the main characters in Stephanie Wang-Breal’s sometimes brutal and often heartbreaking documentary, Tough Love.
Wang-Breal introduces us to Patrick, a former drug addict who called Cps while doing in time in prison because he was concerned about his daughter Natalya and her mother’s spiralling drug use. Natalya’s placed in a foster home, but once Patrick gets out of prison, taking...
