Prime Video got off to a fast start this summer with the release of The Boys season 3 on June 3. Now, as we enter the dog days, Prime Video is set to keep the warm weather good times rolling with a new twist on an old classic. That’s right, Amazon’s list of new releases for August 2022 is highlighted by some good old-fashioned baseball.
A League of Their Own, the TV adaptation of Penny Marshall’s 1992 movie, is set to premiere on Aug. 12. Like the movie before it, the series will dramatize the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League which saw women playing America’s pastime while the major leagues were on pause for World War II. Abbi Jacobson (Broad City) co-created the show and will star as catcher Carson Shaw.
Other Prime Video Originals of note this month include season 2 of British comedy The Outlaws on and the Ron Howard-directed Thirteen Lives,...

Prime Video will continue rolling out its summer slate in the month of August, releasing new original series, as well as a mix of suspenseful films, action movies and more.
Amazon’s series version of “A League of Their Own” will debut its eight-episode first season on Aug. 12, introducing new characters and stories set in the historical opening of the All American Girls Professional Baseball League (Aagpbl).
Ron Howard’s “Thirteen Lives” tells the real-life story of how a young boys’ soccer team was rescued from the Thai mountain cave where they got stuck for 10 days along with their coach.
Other new film arrivals include hits from earlier this summer, “The Lost City” starring Sandra Bullock, Daniel Radcliffe, Channing Tatum and Brad Pitt, as well as “Sonic the Hedgehog 2.” Academy Award-nominated film “Licorice Pizza” also arrives on Prime Video this month.
Freevee will also have new arrivals this month.

Juice Wrld contends with loneliness and love, as well as some outer space monsters in the new videos for “Cigarettes” and “Go Hard 2.” Both animated visuals were written and directed by Steve Cannon.
In the tender “Cigarettes” clip, the late rapper is alone in a dark world, confessing his feelings for a loved one. “I don’t want to be lonely no more/She picks my heart off of the floor,” he sings on the chorus. “I’m addicted, yeah, I need me some more.” Later, he sings: “This a...

Days before they head out on tour together, Madi Diaz and Waxahatchee have teamed up for a new version of “Resentment.”
The track — originally from Diaz’s History of a Feeling and previously recorded by Kesha — gets a cozy Americana makeover, with Katie Crutchfield taking the second verse.
“I’m so thrilled to have been asked to reimagine the song,” Crutchfield said. “I listened to that album more than anything else last year and I think Madi is one of the most talented and exciting people putting out music right now.

In the new video for Juice Wrld’s “Already Dead,” the late rapper stars as an animated samurai warrior. The visual for the single from Juice’s posthumous album Fighting Demons, which arrived last month, was directed and written by Steve Cannon.
In the clip, Juice Wrld appears to grapple with good and evil forces within himself, manifested in two samurai warriors who wield swords in an epic, bloody battle. In between the animated clashes, footage of the real Juice Wrld is woven in as he performs, hangs out with friends,...

Adele can’t stop, won’t stop on the Billboard 200 albums chart. Her “30” spends a fourth week at number-one this week, and she didn’t lose much ground from last week, dipping just 6% to 183,000 equivalent album units based on her combined album sales, individual track sales, and online streams. More on her chart performance here at Billboard.com.
“30” is the first album to spend four consecutive weeks at number-one since Morgan Wallen‘s “Dangerous,” which actually spent its first 10 weeks in a row in the top spot at the start of the year despite the controversy that was unfolding at the time of Wallen being recorded using a racial slur — scarily, perhaps it was partly because of that controversy that some listeners flocked to him. The 183,000 units earned by “30” makes it the strongest fourth week for any album since Drake‘s “Scorpion” in 2018.

Everyone from Hot 97 host Peter Rosenberg to Vince Staples to Drake shared their fond memories and condolences. Madi Diaz was psyched when she heard that Kesha wanted to record her song “Resentment,” but learning Brian Wilson would sing on it too put her in a state of disbelief. “That was just fucked up,” Diaz says, breaking out into a laugh. “I called my dad and said, ‘I just need you to know that this is happening.’ The very idea that somebody like that would even listen to a song that I wrote is weird, crazy, and unfathomable.”

Wrabel and Kesha have shared their new music video for “Since I Was Young,” a track off of Wrabel’s upcoming debut LP.
Directed by Michael Kessler, the video works within the confines of quarantine; Wrabel and Kesha strip down — literally and figuratively — in their separate homes, baring all their emotions for the camera.
Wrabel penned “Since I Was Young” in collaboration with Kesha and songwriter Stint, whom he calls two of his favorite collaborators he’s ever worked with. “I’ll never forget the day we wrote [the song],” he says.

L.A. singer-songwriter Wrabel has teamed up with his frequent collaborator Kesha for a new song, “Since I Was Young.”
In the standalone single, Wrabel tells the story of how he became the person he is today, starting from his first cigarette at 16, “trying to impress some guy or some girl.” Kesha sings backup on the song’s chorus.
The two friends worked together on multiple tracks featured on Kesha’s 2017 album Rainbow and her latest LP, High Road, released this past January, including the song “Resentment” with Brian Wilson and Sturgill Simpson.

It was kismet for Jennifer Beals when The Last Tycoon came along.
The 53-year-old actress, best known for her roles in Flashdance and The L Word, plays the fierce and in-demand Hollywood star Margo Taft, who comes into the fray in the original Amazon series' third episode and proves a strong woman isn't to be toyed with.
As Margo, Beals showcases a woman -- who keeps her biracial identity a secret -- unafraid to demand what she's worth and even forces directors to show their private parts before she begins filming their movie.
Beals recently jumped on the phone with Et to discuss her exciting new role on the 1930s-set The Last Tycoon, which also stars Matt Bomer, Kelsey Grammer and Lily Collins, and offers an update on the long-awaited Showtime revival of The L Word.

Tonight on ‘movies we really want to like’ we have Hal Ashby’s final feature, an L.A.- based crime saga with a great cast and spirited direction and . . . and not much else. It isn’t the train wreck described in Kino’s candid actor interviews, but we can see only too well why it wasn’t a big winner when new. Any day that a Jeff Bridges picture doesn’t shine, is a dark day in my book.

Any day where Neill Blomkamp gives the world something for free is a good day in my book. Today is no exception as the director uploaded a 20+ minute short film featuring Sigourney Weaver, aliens, and a whole lot of sci-fi craziness. Here's a description for Rakka, which is somehow bleaker than it sounds:
Rakka is the story of broken humanity following the invasion of a technologically superior alien species. Bleak harrowing and unrelenting, the humans we meet must find enough courage to go on fighting.
The whole project is part of a larger project from Oats Studios, who is looking for your support to fund feature films out of these unique ideas. In fact, if you're looking to donate, you can obtain some assets from this film for use in your own stuff should you choose to do so. Watch the movie and learn more about the effort here. ...
