Mario's Call of Duty
hellraiser711 September 2014
Yeah, I'm a gamer and finding this web series was kinda a dream come true for me, because like any video game it sets itself out to be what it should be fun.

Basically this web series is pretty much "G.I. Joe" but with Nintendo characters. The protagonists no doubt are the Joes and the Cobras are pretty much Bowsers team. This was such a wild but great idea, and yeah it's a parody but what makes it funny is in how much it takes itself seriously despite how much absurdity there is. You got to admit it's pretty surreal seeing both Mario and Peach use magnums.

The production value is great, for a low budget and amateur work I think they do great. From the use of squids and blood, yeah you do see some blood in this series but their mere spurts. And the costume designs and wardrobe is great, the company that made this "Beat Down Boggie" specializes in it and their effort really shows.

The characters are solid their all not deep characters but they all stay true to their predecessors, the people that played them I thought their performance were all solid, they were all capable actors. I really like both Mario and Peach (the actress that plays her is really hot) I liked how their were handled both were strong good natured just like the original characters and I like that there is a bit of chemistry between the two, I kinda which it could of been elaborated on a bit more which I feel is the only weak point of the series, I don't feel there are enough interaction scenes between the two but oh well. He's also got a good brotherly back and forth with the character Luigi whom is also great.

However were in this series for the action and I think it's great. All the cast physically trained and handled the weapons well. The shoot outs I think are really solid, my favorite one was seeing both Mario and Peach both together shooting down Shy Guys and working together which in a romantic sense also shows why both are a good match for each other.

The fisticuff fights though I was impressed with the most. The martial arts chirography was really on par and so where the actors training. Two of my favorite fights were one with Mario trying to fight against an evil purple Mario like character (I know he has a name but I forgot) and this guy is a tough contender he is just really facts, the guy has some of the fastest combos and punches even love his use of a pipe as an arnise stick, but what makes that fight great is that it takes place in confined space where Mario is just being lead in the ruins and the Purple evil Mario is just using the enviorment to his advantage to suit his agility.

Another fight that is great was seeing Mario fight in some fighting tournament which is of course a parody on "Fight Club" or even "Ong Bak" with that underground fighting tournament scene. But of course this scene was an obvious nod to the "Super Smash Bros" video game series hence the name of the club Smash Club. But anyway it was just a lot of fun seeing Mario beat the tar out of different Nintendo characters his way, from Link, Ness from the "Earthbound" game, Little Mac from the "Punch Out" games, Kirby, though my favorite one was seeing the one between both Mario and Peach, which was sort of a sexual overtone when you think about it.

The only bad thing about the series is the fact there won't be a second season, due to the ending. Which I thought was a real shame, I honestly felt like it could of gone further, I would of loved to of see some other Nintendo video game characters most notably Samus Aran from the "Metroid" games and may'be even some other villains from the Mario games like the Koppa kids, they could've been a version of the Dreadnacks (villians from "G.I. Joe").

Overall this web series just like the original Mario game scores big.

Parody isn't Dead
benjaminburt6 December 2017
Parody in film and television seems to have become droll in the last decade or two. Most parodies seem to fail to understand the thing they're parodying, or they don't care about quality, or they don't bother to stand on their own. Around the time Mario Warfare was gracing our computer screens, Movie 43, the Starving Games, A Haunted House, and Scary Movie V were coming to a theater near you. How great it was to see a couple of passionate guys completely trounce no-effort Hollywood schlock.

Mario Warfare has plenty of flaws. The sound editing's a little off, the acting's kinda hammy, and there are a lot of jokes that don't quite fit the tone. But, I would say most of these problems actually add to the movie (except for the sound and the ADR). This parody is spot-on.

Mario Warfare pays tribute to its source material (Nintendo games) while still being incredibly enjoyable if you don't get all the jokes. The fight scenes in this film are absolutely spectacular. The choreography is so good. The only problem is that everyone seems to be able to take more damage than seems humanly possible.

This is a fantastic parody for all Mario fans, though it can get a little graphically violent, so it's not for little kids. I absolutely love this fan film, from the hammy acting and cheesy jokes and references. It's just a beautiful, passionate piece of parody!

Mario Warfare

Warning: Spoilers
This is an amazing show/movie about a war badass Mario and Luigi fighting for the protection of the mushroom Kingdom. The action and fights are great, the comedy is hilarious (like the hammer bros hurting Luigi's meatballs) the only bad violence is the blood but it's not bad. Great. Amazing I want more!!!!
