"Nazi Mega Weapons" is an excellent documentary series that focuses on HUGE Nazi building projects. While the fact that this particular episode focuses on the Tiger tanks isn't unusual (after all, lots of other documentaries about WWII have), what is unusual is its emphasis on bigness and a discussion of future tank programs that would have dwarfed the Tigers! So, while the Tiger II weighed about 62 tons and was grossly overweight and often unwieldy, there were even plans to create the so-called 'landkreuzer' that would have been 1000 tons!! Obviously Hitler was doing some overcompensating to deal with some issues of smallness here. In addition, the show discusses massive (and mostly ineffective) guns such as the Gustav-- which took massive amounts of energy to build but which only ended up getting used once!
Overall, this is a fascinating show which discusses the advantages but mostly disadvantages of Hitler's 'bigger is better' policy when it came to artillery and tanks. Well worth seeing.
