Cyril seems to be a genuine decent guy. I enjoy his perseverance, enthusiasm and realistic way of dealing with things. His linguistic talents are such a bonus for the audience. I rate his show just as good as River Monsters.

Watching season 1 episode 2, this guy is dead afraid to get into the water because "he knows what lingers in the waters" although literally everyone living in the area always swims in the water, I know this having grown up there. I think that if your specialty is catching big fish, you shouldn't be afraid of them or others swimming in the surrounding water.

This show is addicting to watch. Cyril gives just the right amount of information about the fish he catches throughout every episode (not too much to be dry and too boring, but not too little to where it seems you didn't learn anything about that fish). I also like the general layout of the episodes, the locations he travels to/the fact that he really embeds himself into the culture (the Amazon episodes were awesome, especially the one where he stayed in the chief's village), and Cyril has a very likeable personality that is easy to watch. I hope he'll continue to make more seasons!

This is a great show but the episode where Cyril goes to Canada to catch a northern pike bothers me. after spending years in the northern Wisconsin region, I've seen pike upwards of 30 ponds on Lake Superior. though the fishing may be harder, his chances of catching big pike were diminished by the fact that he did not fish Lake Superior. being a hockey player, I've spent years in Canada playing hockey and fishing and I have to say, he would have had better chances of catching a record pike on the big lake.
So much better than River Monsters, Cyril is the best!

Don't mind other lower rating reviews here, Cyril is so much better host and definitely a better fisherman than River Monsters host. He is genuinely caring about fish and preservation of species. The fact that he kisses most of the the fish before letting it go tells a lot. To the person here in reviews who says "circle hook" is not designed to not harm the fish you are dead wrong pal, that's exactly what it's designed to do, do your homework!

This guy constantly over exaggerates everhthing about the fish. I remember in the episode about the Amazon catfish he said the puritans could grow to upwards of 900lbs which it factually wrong as they can at the most grow to around 400-450 lbs and that's if conditions are perfect. He also whines about not catching the fish he wants. If you want to watch a real fishing show stick with the original which is River Monsters. The info is correct and the host doesn't whine at everything and actually rolls with the punches and contributes to marine biology. If you like misinformation stick with this show but if you like correct info go to River Monsters.

I can't stand people whining about not get what they want when they want it.. I watched the a whole episode where he was in the Amazon complain about not getting the catfish he wanted and complaining about loosing the boil pot.. if the show had a different fisherman I would watch again.

Sorry but as a Florida native, the episode we have on at this moment makes him look like a complete ignoramus. The sharks you are pulling in are not huge, a circle hook is not designed to "not hurt the animal". I cannot understand why people would highly rate and recommend this show, when he is completely clueless as to what he is doing and why. If you want to see an overdramatic man attempt to fish for average size/small sharks this is your show. If you know anything about fishing, sharks, or general Florida knowledge you will roll your eyes and get annoyed with the idiocracy of this show.
