Facile, dumb "inside movies" comedy
lor_10 January 2018
I'm not asking for satire on the level of say Christopher Guest, but this take on a deluded flmmaker is Jonathan Morgan at his laziest. Capping it off in the negative column is casting James Deen in the lead, sinking the Wicked release entirely.

Deen plays a low-budget, low-talent filmmaker (which he has literally become late in his career via his James Deen Prods. banner) who is humping Summer Brielle in the opening scene, only to find a great script belonging to her husband in a drawer after delivering his money shot.

Summer's huge breasts dominate the screen in this overlong opening scene, but her tanned, healthy appearance so contrasts with Deen's pale, skuzzball look as to drain the XXX content of its arousal potential. Morgan's screenplay has one good joke, accidentally timely today, in naming her "Hollywood legend" husband Hal Weinstein, played without credit by Kyle Stone. He shows up late to catch the two together, suffers a heart attack and Deen steals the script, titled "The Invasion".

What unfolds for the next two hours is a lame attempt at making fun of mainstream filmmaking, but way beyond Morgan's talents (and resources). Deen goes to his usual backer, a vaguely gangster-esque Toni Ribas as Tuco, for funding and only gets $10,000 to work with. Hardly enough for even a lousy video let alone a movie project, but with his trusty assistant Rilynn Rae in tow he sets out to create a great film.

Running gag is how crummy and inappropriate the sets are, but that is typical of most porn though these sets are far worse than those of a typical Wicked Pictures feature. Most annoying is Morgan clumsily having Deen shoot his scenes for "The Invasion" with no crew or even a camera visible -not even a token effort to bring the viewer into this nonsensical story.

Final result merely makes the awful (but similar, on purpose in the tradition of "porn-parody") Tim Burton big-budget junker "Mars Attacks!" look almost good by comparison. For me, however, it merely proves you can make a total piece of crap for $10,000 or $70,000,000 - it's still crap.

One has to wait for the final reel to see bespectacled, wise-cracking Rilynn finally shed her clothes and get down, unfortunately and oh so predictably with Deen. In high heels she towers over the rest of the cast, and almost emerges unscathed from appearing in this debacle.

Before that sex scene we are treated to Bailey Blue as a stereotypical blonde bimbo humping Ribas and the film's misused star and Wicked contract lady Kaylani Lei as the leading lady opposite Richie Calhoun in "The Invasion". Abigail Mac has little to no acting to do as another sex object in the mix.
