Buying Food (1950)
** (out of 4)
Herk Harvey was the uncredited director of this twelve-minute short film that takes a look at how one should shop in order to get the most value out of their dollar. We learn that it's never smart to go shopping when you're hungry because you end up buying stuff that will be wasted. From here we learn about the various grades given foods as well as how different size cans should be looked at before purchased. This educational film is one of those that is so dry that it's hard to get too much entertainment out of it. Overall there's certainly nothing awful about this but if you've sat through enough of them you know that the best ones are usually the ones with some campy factor. There's nothing campy here as the narration is dry, clear-cut and gets right to the point.
