The Walking Dead knock off
leion-1008216 June 2015
OK, This was a mix of knock offs from many titles. That is just fine. What many of the users or critics will say is that it wasn't very good. I disagree. I think this movie was meant to be this way. It's a comedy, a joke. The script may not be that well written or the acting that wonderful, but I believe that the actors did a good job at portraying the current zombie flicks and shows in a humorous manner. It wasn't meant to win an Oscar, but it made me laugh. To truly understand this movie you would have to have watched all the shows and movies it's based off of. I say for such a low budget and for fitting in so many aspects, they did a great job. I would give it a 5 of 10 any day. If you don't like comedy, you would not agree and as a comedy it would not get that score. As a parody of films and shows that I have watched put into a comedy, I say well done. Good job guys, I would not call this a B movie. I would call it a cheap A.

Bad movie, but not the worst ever
8512226 October 2015
Greetings from Lithuania.

"Walking with the Dead" (2015) is not the worst movie of all time, and that is probably the best thing i can say about this "spoof". I liked that they tried to spoof some famous zombie movies and shows, but they failed or not even tried harder. Characters (more like costumes) that resembles famous characters from the originals are there and they kinda try to spoof them, but usually it is not funny, more just dull and gross at times. There are some very bad dialogs and acting in here, and although i love spoof genre, this one isn't good - comparing any "Scary Movie" installment to "Walking with the Dead" would be like trying to compare "Godfather" with , well "Walking with the Dead".

Overall, whether you like spoof genre or not, "Walking with the Dead" is a very poor attempt to laugh at some famous movies. In order for make a funny spoof they forget to create a nice movie - even good spoofs don't have to be great art, but this one is just just dreadful. But it is not the worst movie or spoof i have ever saw, there are some worst movies, but i couldn't recommend this flick to anyone.

Low Budget Spoof
stevendbeard22 March 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I saw "The Walking Deceased", starring Dave Sheridan-Horrible Bosses, The Devil's Rejects; Tim Ogletree-this is his second movie, the first being Supernatural Activity; Joey Oglesby-Fruitvale Station, Supernatural Activity; Troy Ogletree-this is his second movie, the first being Supernatural Activity and Sophia Taylor Ali-Missionary Man, Barney & Friends_tv.

In case you could not tell from the title, this is a parody movie of zombie movies and TV shows-including The Walking Dead, Warm Bodies and Zombieland, just to name the main targets. It's written by one of the stars, Tim Ogletree and filmed in San Antonio, Texas with a modest budget-a little over $1 million. Dave plays a sheriff that wakes up from a coma in a hospital to find the world has been infected by a zombie virus. He goes looking for his family and comes across other survivors, including Tim, Joey, Troy and Sophia. They hold up in a mall for a while and then, when the zombies get too thick, they go on the road and end up at a farm. Most of the jokes are really just dumb, although every once in a while, they do come across with something mildly funny, the majority are just dumb. There is a running joke about the sheriff Dave calling his son Karl-he keeps reminding him that his name is Chris. As the end credits start, there are some bloopers and out takes-if you are interested. It's rated "R" for violence, language, drug use and sexual content- including nudity-and has a running time of 1 hour & 28 minutes. It's not one that I would buy on DVD. If you are interested in seeing it, I would wait until it comes to cable TV.

Absolutely Horrible B Movie with Non Actors
jjjppplll22 March 2015
The one star I give this stinker is only because there are a couple of funny moments and lines. I also kind of appreciated the homage to The Walking Dead (the sheriff, an obvious Rick, is called Sheriff Lincoln...the last name of actor Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick in The Walking Dead).

The script is one of the worst imaginable. Jokes and gags fall cringingly flat left and right. This is only exacerbated by the horrid non acting from the cast of non actors. The plot is a silly mess. The directing is non existent.

Skip this unwatchable dretch.

Awful
utgard143 May 2015
No-budget spoof of recently popular zombie movies and TV shows. In particular it parodies Zombieland, Warm Bodies, and The Walking Dead. It's a terrible comedy that offers no laughs. It's not funny at all but it tries so hard. The Kool-Aid bit was the only time I chuckled. At one point they were so desperate for laughs they threw in one of those tired "everybody gets high" gags that we've seen in THOUSANDS of movies. Ugh. Just the worst.

The amateur production values and the poor editing don't do it any favors either. They appear to have gone to Rite-Aid for Halloween makeup to use on their zombies. The acting ranges from terrible to mediocre. I feel bad for these people. One reviewer suggested watching this with your friends. I'm not sure what that person's friends are into but mine would never speak to me again if I subjected them to this. As for all the reviews that are giving this glowing praise -- I'll assume these people are affiliated with the film in some way. Either they worked on it or are related to someone who did. I much prefer that answer to the uncomfortable idea that someone out there legitimately thought this was funny. That would be tragic. Avoid this cheap stinker.

Boring awful movie
tigerboyz3 August 2015
This movie was that bad it's really not worthy of a review, it was one of the worst spoofs I've ever seen in my life!...There was nothing humorous about it at all. The acting was terrible, the story line was plain stupid. I'm pretty sure I fell asleep at least five or six times whilst watching it. At times I felt embarrassed for the people involved in the making of this movie. I'm very sure their intentions were good when they had the idea of making this spoof of the walking dead TV series crossed with warm bodies the movie but it was just plain bad and it failed to deliver. I don't think i even chuckled once in the entire viewing of this movie. If you really want to save your money plus an hour and a half of your life then don't watch this extremely boring attempt at humor just give it a miss big time!

Fumbling brainlessly for one and half hour
quincytheodore30 September 2015
The degree of enjoyment one would get from this poorly made spoof is how much churlish subjects like stripper zombies one can tolerate. It takes a lot of zombie titles and creates a bland parody of them. However, movies like Warm Bodies and Zombieland originally had much more humor, making this spoof a very inferior viewing.

There's not much in term of plot or technical aspects. It merely copies the look and some of the quirks on different shows, then puts some exaggerated crude jokes on them. It's certainly far from the refined amusement of Shaun of the Dead, which it ironically also copies on one of its scenes. Some of the gags even feel redundantly repetitive or outright obnoxious.

There are some things it does correctly, although these are so few, such as the impression of Walking Dead Daryl which looks pretty convincing. It points out odd plot devices of the genre like creepy couple with ulterior motives, but then again it's very expected and those who have internet might have come across these jokes before. The rest are cheap knock-offs from the better original titles, which are more bearable, though still in much lower quality.

In span of its runtime, The Walking Deceased probably only has a couple of decently original comedy, which pale in comparison of its more juvenile ones. It's better to rewatch the movies it spoofs on than wasting time on this lackluster parody.

Pretty awful
targa91 July 2015
Not very funny spoof of Walking Dead. Some lines were funny, but it relied too much on very contemporary pop-buzz-terminology. I guess they didn't consider that many who watch a serious show like the Walking Dead are probably not interested in Snookie or Kardashian or all the inside jokes on TMZ. So it was overkill.

But the funniest line was when our hero was all upset that Twitter, Facebook, Instagram went down during the Zombie Apocalypse, but then asked about Linked In, and was told, "No, Linked In's still up."

But after that, pretty boring. I shut it off after 20 minutes. The guy who was to play Daryl didn't even look like him at all, or talk like him. They should have hired actors who could really spoof the originals.

Waste of Dave Sheridan's talent
Lynngill-40-33092721 March 2015
Love - Love Dave Sheridan . . And even though he was great as his character ( of course) that is all I can say on the positive side . I didn't even finish watching it - so stupid. Stupid can be funny - however not this time. And I think I'm not the only movie lover that is thinking WHY can't some one bring us something ORIGINAL and truly laughable. Everyone wants to do re-makes - do overs- sequels - part 2 - chapter 3 c. So done with that . If Hollywood wants to capture the attention of serious movie fanatics and expect us to spend our hard earned money for a ticket and a $10 bucket of popcorn - then PLEASE at least give us something worthy of the popcorn . In a nutshell : don't waste your time or money on this one. ( You'll be angry)

Good introduction, everything else bad
coplwagu1 May 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Honestly, i wish I could enjoy this film, as I force myself to laugh at scenes which are so awkwardly unfunny. Such as a 5 minute scene of constant cross cutting between two cars of which the characters discuss things, it drops in a couple of jokes that are so...bad.

Acting is what you'd expect in a film like this however, I did enjoy Carol (or Chris or whatever his name is) as this kid seems to be aggressive and fun. A character I HUGELY didn't enjoy was Romeo, the zombie. His narrative voice is so bad and cringe-worthy that it's painful to watch. Apart from the acting, another segment that truly got on my nerves was how it's high (on marijuana segment). Another example of at least 5 minutes being spent on pointless, unfunny and awkward comments between characters. The awkward flirting was meant to be funny but it sure as hell wasn't. The whole thing also seems to try force-feed the idea that drugs are good idea. It feels so forced, it wasn't needed in any way and yet the writer put it in there. Like 2 minutes of them laughing and smashing small objects. Uh-hu, because increasing the pitch of a character and slowing it down so that u can experience all there laughing sure is funny. The only part I found funny, of which I found EXTREMELY FUNNY, was when in the beginning, our main protagonist has to get his first kill, it's a little girl. He says that he doesn't want his to first kill to be a girl only for the girl to turn around and say she isn't a zombie and is looking for her father. He then replies "that's what a zombie would say" and shoots her. He walks a bit forwards to a car where her father is asleep in the car and wakes up to say "have you seen my daughter?" That cracked me up. This is the only part that made me truly laugh. In a comedy.

The best parody I have ever watched
angie-2508512 November 2015
If you like Zombieland, the walking dead and warm bodies along with a couple others you will love this spoof. You have to watch it more than once to get the little jokes suck as everyone calls the sheriff names like "chief, Sarge" etc and he always points to his badge and says "Sheriff". Darnell runs around with a toy bow and arrow and yet can't kill anything with it. The kids name is Chris but his dad "rick" keeps calling him CARRRRRRL, Every actor was casted to perfection, they take themselves so seriously and obviously having fun while doing the movie. Each person nailed their part to a "T". If you don't like or laugh at this you either are not intelligent enough to get it or have a funny bone in your body. Enjoy!!! And stick around for the out-takes they are just as funny.

If you're a fan, then you will get it. It's funny.
intrepidmom12 March 2016
If you haven't watched the zombie movies being spoofed, you won't get it. If you don't have a sense of humor, then don't bother watching a comedy. This is a lampooning mash-up mostly of "The Walking Dead", "Warm Bodies", and "Zombieland". If you loved them, then you will love this. There are sprinkles of other classics that makes me want to watch it again to see what else I can catch. "Dawn of the Dead", "Shaun of the Dead", "World War Z" are represented. I haven't seen every zombie movie so I couldn't tell ya everything. "You're name is Romero?" I laughed every time the wannabe "Rick" character mistakingly calls his kid Carl. At my house we routinely say F-N CARL!! Maybe it's just us. We think it's funny. There might not be Twitter or Twinkies, but there are zombie strippers. Don't let the uptight haters dissuade you from this one. It's not an Oscar winning movie, it's a silly fun movie.

Carl! You have to be in the right lowbrow frame of mind.
amesmonde28 March 2015
Warning: Spoilers
After a zombie apocalypse a band of survivors and a sheriff team up with a thinking zombie to get through the outbreak.

Also known as Walking with the Dead opening with a news reporter giving the possible cause of the zombie outbreak due to people not washing their hands after handling sushi you know what you're in for. It's surprisingly humorous and entertaining, to get the most out of director Scott Dow's The Walking Deceased you'll mostly likely have to be into beer, over the top lampooning parodies and have a toilet sense of humour. A knowledge of zombie films will help but it's probably essential to have seen The Walking Dead series and the film Warm Bodies.

Dave Sheridan's excellent over emotional mickey take of The Walking Dead's Andrew Lincoln's Rick Grimes is the films main highlight. Sheridan's Sheriff Lincoln hits all the notes, mimicking some of Grimes finest moments. His shouts for Carl and little speeches will make any viewer familiar with Rick Grimes chuckle. There's plenty of other Walking Dead characters on the spoof chopping board nearly all of which have been killed off in the series.

Yes, it's low budget, lowbrow stuff, from jabs at drugs, crossbows, social media including LinkedIn to stabs at strippers and prayer, you have to be in the right frame of mind. Dow's offering looks grander than it should thanks to some good direction, coupled with some blood and guts effects and Troy Ogletree's Romeo lone zombie is notable giving some amusing undead voice-over lines.

The opening 20 minutes of the spoof is probably the strongest, leave your brain at the door and familiarise yourself with the aforementioned films and you may get a kick out of this Romero send up. Worth seeing for Sheridan's bare butt sheriff using his pointing index finger as a gun alone.

Turned it Off Halfway Through
chibi-freak43 March 2016
I can usually sit through low budget parodies, but this was a snore- fest. Most of the jokes fell flat and borrowed exclusively from the material they were parodying. It seemed like it relied heavily on the references to the source material and didn't even try to be funny on its own. This was painfully boring, so much so I had to turn it off halfway. You know a movie is boring, when you are checking to see how much longer until the end. Even the zombie attack scenes were boring. The only parts I enjoyed, were the "Warm Bodies" references, some of those were actually clever. And at first, the dad forgetting his son's name and calling him Carl (in reference to "The Walking Dead") was funny the first few times, but then it got old. Just skip this one and re-watch the movies and shows they are so desperately trying to parody.

Terrible Unfunny Steaming Pile
barry-steers22 October 2015
As you've probably guessed from the majority of reviews about this, the movie is awful. As a fan of The Walking Dead I had hopes for this movie but unfortunately it failed miserably. I think the main purpose of a spoof movie is for it to be funny. Alas this was not. It seemed like it was being made up as it went along with the same laboured lines and skits constantly being used. They were either unfunny or weak to start with but after a short time of the same lines, quirks and scenes being churned out it was just bloody annoying. In short, poor acting, terrible unfunny script, low budget and just a mess of a movie. Whoever gave this high marks in previous reviews either watched a different movie or works for the production company.

The lucky Dead. They don't have to sit through this.
typjs31 March 2019
The writing in this movie is of the lowest form of comedy. The dreaded parody. The movie has a few funny moments. However a few moments cannot fill a few hours. The movie limps along like a one legged zombie. It would have made a funny bit in a sketch show, short film but not stretched out into a full-length film.

Potential but screwed it up.
jackieandweronika13 August 2015
Warning: Spoilers
This isn't going to be some long review so hold your horses and don't expect something fancy. After watching the movie, I thought the idea of doing something like this could be a great way to get money, be famous and bring all the different zombie loving fandoms together. But god dammit Scott Dow you screwed the whole thing up. It wasn't even that funny at all. The actors were horrible and the only good thing was probably Romeo and the zombies. This movie has about the humour of my grandfather who barely knows how to even use his Ipad so next time you try to direct a film and want to call it funny and good, learn what social media is on about and learn how to write a good plot and movie. Once again, as I stated, the actors were horrible except Troy Ogletree and MAYBE Andrew Pozza. Next time get actors that don't look like they're reading the script the first time. Danielle Garcia was good when it came to facial expressions but since she didn't say anything, I can't judge her there.

I'm not dead... Yet!
phoenixyk17 January 2017
What has happened to Spoofs and Pardodies?

Oh wait... I remember! The Scary Movie Franchise...

Yeah, it has to be said that this movie follows all the old tropes of trying to cash grab at a popular formula. We are long past the days of Mel Brooks thanks in part to a Politically Correct sensibility that seems to have issues with people taking the P**s out of every cultural stereotype and shoving it in our faces about how Hypocritical society really is...

This was the Genius of many Early Parody Movies... Mel;; Brooks, a Jewish Director/Writer/Movie Star, was more than willing to not only shove the ridiculous stereotypes of most people into our faces and say 'Seriously! This is how Stupid we all are!' but also send up his own beliefs because he KNEW that even he and his beliefs were not above a level of Hypocrisy.

Brooks, Zucker and Abrahams were very culturally aware... and never afraid to ruffle feathers for a laugh - because when we laughed at what we saw on screen, we were also laughing at ourselves...

Sadly, this art seems lost... This movie does NOT hit any of those notes and instead relies on 'Parody' of the most popular movies of its genre...

The Title is obviously a Parody of The Walking Dead, There are references to 28 Days Later, Star Wars, Zombieland (Parody of a Parody? Are you serious?), Warm Bodies and many more.

For what its worth, the film is NOT terrible... In fact, it has elements that are genuinely funny, though they are few and far between.

The effects are possibly one of the better elements of the movie - And sometimes quite graphic and gory... But this does not make it a great film.

Its biggest problem is they try too hard to cram as many pop culture references into the film to try and score cheap laughs that most of the time just do not work.

Given that so many films seem to be pandering to the so called 'Social Justice Warriors' and avoid making jokes that may even remotely come across as Racist or Religious in anyway - Its still baffles me how so many of these movies still rely on Stoner Humour to try and get laughs!

Overall, its cheap, tacky, but to be fair... Its short and mildly entertaining.

It could have been so much more though - Instead to falls into the vain of Disaster Movie, Epic Movie, Scary Movie 4, The Starving Games and such like... Only with a much lower budget.

Its not going to challenge your humour much - But you may get a few cheap laughs out of it.

If people are going to continue doing parodies - PLEASE FOR GODS SAKE STOP TRYING TO BE POLITICALLY CORRECT! NOTHING SHOULD BE SACRED TO HUMOUR!

Abomination
ultrafernando27 December 2020
This movie is a total abomination, it made me feel ashamed of being human. It made me contemplate the true experience and conception of hell. I thought that nothing could be worse than Epic Movie (2004), but here it is, this absurd atrocity of movie. It is undoubtedly the worst film I have ever seen.

No joke works, the direction is so poor, the plot is disgusting, the writer finds it funny that a child uses her mother in a strip club to survive. he thinks it's funny to just do nonsense things, yell and talk about sex. Some movie are so bad that they are funny. NOT THIS, THIS IS TORTURE.

The United Nations should ban this "thing" from the face of the earth, and everyone who has seen this movie should undergo therapy to forget this terrible Audio-Visual abuse, and anyone who dares to speak about this movie should be imprisoned with life without parole. As for the creators of this dementia, executions alone would not help, the Pope and all religious leaders of all religions must be called upon to exorcise the remains of the creators.

I wonder what Nietzsche would think of this movie... how would Kant judge that? Was that what George Washington wanted for the country? What would Jesus say?

Witless
Leofwine_draca25 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
THE WALKING DECEASED is a terrible low budget indie spoof of THE WALKING DEAD, with a main character randomly shoehorned in from the film WARM BODIES to boot. It's a film that suffers from consistently poor writing from beginning to end, which makes it an embarrassment to sit through. The humour is puerile at best, the gags forecast a mile off, and the whole thing feels like an amateurish mess that never gets off the ground. While the TV show on which this is based is ripe for spoofery, in the hands of these buffoons this feels more like a witless rip-off than genuinely humorous.

Makes fun of the zombie genre in all the right ways
evanisgo27 July 2021
I disagree with all the negativity being thrown at this movie. It does a pretty good job making fun of the things that we tend to pick at as an audience anyways.

It's a parody so I don't know why people are grilling this film like it's some blockbuster big budget movie. It's gimmicky on purpose, they should've known what they were getting into.

Stumbling and shuffling along
leadfootgamer16 October 2019
The walking deceased is a movie that seemingly isn't the worst movie but won't exactly be winning any awards or be fondly remembered. It kinda reminds me of those parody movies that were extremely popular in the early to mid 2000s and gained traction again in the mid 2010s. Low budget, mediocre acting (like I could do any better but still) and filled to the brim with references to many other zombie films and TV shows like 28 days later and (obviously) the walking dead. But what would expect from a film called the walking deceased? It's not exactly going to be considered the next big zombie film and spawn a mega million dollar franchise. The actors in the film are all pretty mediocre but play pretty funny characters. The special effects are all over the place (Pay special attention to a certain scene where they smoke a certain supstance. Some looks real and others look super cgi when blowing smoke). All in all the movie isn't exactly terrible. If you have a spare hour and 20 minutes and own prime then you can watch it easily. Whether I would spend anything over £5 to watch or keep this sorta movie is out of the question. I think this is a solid 6/10. It's not setting out to be a good film, it's a budget film to make people laugh and it did get me to laugh. Let's hope it gets you too do so as well.

Do Not Expect Anything
empatmk23 April 2017
Based on the movie title, I knew it will be a parody zombie movie. Unfortunately it wasn't funny enough, and a bit dull in the mid of film because of too many unnecessary scenes. Also the makeup was not good at all, too plain for a zombie flick. Even though it's a zombie comedy film and there wasn't something special with the acting, but at least should have a scary zombie makeup.

The "Scary Movie" of the zombie genre...
paul_haakonsen1 January 2016
"The Walking Deceased" (aka "Walking with the Dead") is much similar to the "Scary Movie" franchise, being a spoof on just about everything in the zombie genre. Most dominant are the parodies on "The Walking Dead", "Zombieland" and "Warm Bodies" - the biggest commercial successes of the zombie genre.

Story-wise then "The Walking Deceased" was nothing out of the ordinary. And it wasn't the story that kept the movie afloat.

For a low budget spoof, the heart was in the right place. There were some good moments here and there, but the grand picture was just lacking that one key ingredient. Some of the scenes were actually nicely constructed and really laying it on thick in terms of the characters being spoofed.

The acting was adequate for a movie of this caliber. This isn't academy award winning material, mind you.

I will say that for a spoof then the laughs were few and far apart. Which was a shame, because a spoof comedy like this had potential.

A good attempt at making a dent on the pop cultural success that the zombie genre has become. The heart and soul was in the right place, it just needed some tuning and finesse. It is worth a watch if you have been a lifelong zombie aficionado, like me, but just don't get your hopes up too high.
