Bad Ass 3!? Awesome trilogy!
bbickley13-921-586648 March 2015
Machete was not enough for the legendary Danny Trejo, he needed another franchise and he got it with Bad Ass.

Trejo returns as Frank Vega, a badge-less old Mexican version of John McClaine who cleans up his hood the best way he knows how...by kicking bad guy butt.

Joining him once again is "too old for this sh*t", Danny Glover, who proves you don't want to mess with old, cranky and don't give a...

Exploiting her viable (yet small) star power at the moment The Real's Loni Love, who had a small part in the second Bad Ass, becomes the center of attention as the Bad Asses attend her wedding only to have to rescue the bride from a kidnapping.

Changing the scenery of the last two movies from LA, the Bad Asses go to the popular filming location of Louisiana were they bring West Coast Justice to a corrupt small time on the Bayou.

Adding to the Bad Ass family is John Amos as a Vietnam vet trying to live his life as a billionaire pacifist, until the wrong men messed with his family (Just as bass ass as it sounds)

A vast improvement over the other two movies, Bad Asses on the Bayou keeps with the momentum of the popularity of the first two movies and uses a bigger budget just to improve on what has already been done. Unlike Taken 3, it does not try to be better than the b-action movie that started it and which everyone loves. Unlike the Expendables, who are also one step closer to the geriatric home, they did not need over the top theatrical action sequences to prove just because your old, doesn't mean you can't be a Bass Ass.

And nothing says Bad Ass like Danny Trejo. It was a fun ride old men. go check it out.

If you liked the first two you will like this one. Generic but somewhat entertaining. I give it a B-.

"We need your help. This is a small town, we don't get to many of these types of crime around here." "This isn't LA, this is Baton Rouge." Frank Vega (Trejo) and Bernie Pope (Glover) have been invited to the wedding of the daughter of an old friend. What starts off has a happy occasion changes when she is kidnapped. When the cops aren't doing enough Frank and Bernie take matters into their own hands and as usual, will stop at nothing to fix things. This is a series that I can't believe is still going. I'm not saying they are bad movies, just more unnecessary. Trejo has a huge cult following and Glover seems to have fallen a long way since Lethal Weapon, but they both fit will together. As far as the movie goes, it's basically the same thing as the other two. Two old guys fighting for what is right and a decent blend of humor and action. Overall, if you liked the first two you will like this one. Generic but somewhat entertaining. I give it a B-.

Good things come in threes(?)

Well depending on how you liked the first two movies, you can expect to feel the same here. It's not that the movie redefines anything, though there is a change of "scenery". That's nice to see, but how often can you fake and fool criminals in one movie? Even at that age and especially if you consider the "bad guys" to be deadly (or at least they attempt to look like it).

Still Danny Trejo and Danny Glover, the latter who is not too old for flying on a plane and ... well you'll see where I'm heading with this and what might have been written in there to draw him to sign on this movie. It worked and who wouldn't want that to happen on their flight/ride? Exactly. Back to the movie and the action, which is decent, especially if you consider who is playing the characters. There are nice touches (such as the not running thing, which they would be too old for and was one of the worst bits in Taken 3), but overall this is standard procedure.

But why?...
paul_haakonsen12 June 2018
With the previous two "Bad Ass" movies watched, then of course this one had to be watched as well.

The story in "Bad Asses on the Bayou" was adequately entertaining, but it just felt that they should have stopped making these movies after the first one, because parts two and three don't have the same level of energy as the first movie.

"Bad Asses on the Bayou" was troubled by an overly predictable storyline.

Danny Glover is definitely getting too old for these kind of movies. Danny Trejo carried the movie quite well, and he did make the movie bearable to watch.

If you enjoy action movies, then "Bad Asses on the Bayou" is hardly the first of choices to go to. It was an adequate movie for what it turned out to a; a mediocre action movie.

Nice to see some veteran actors are still entertaining us...

Warning: Spoilers
A bit predictable in places but well put together. Bernie Pope (Danny Glover) does well to stay on his feet during some of the action, considering the characters health problems. This film is exactly what you would expect, simple plot and easy to follow. Some of the effects are a bit rough around the edges.

An interesting bunch of characters getting up to all sorts of fun. Definitely the best of the Bad Ass films so far.

I think Craig Moss is improving in both writing and directing.

Here is the mild SPOILER:- I particularly enjoyed watching them crash the aeroplane, a scene 'borrowed' from Air America (1990).

Whew! Should Have Been Called Bad Acting
Eric2664 June 2018
I was not aware there were three of these movies so I watched this one first. I laughed at how insane and unbelievable the action and acting was. Then I went and watched Bad Ass. Now I really hate this second sequel.

Danny Glover is way past his action days as Roger Murtaugh. The fight scenes are painful to watch as neither Danny Trejo or Glover are in any physical condition to pull off these stunts. The bank fight scene is a prime example. They are so slow in their movements, I could have taken a pee break in the time it took Glover to throw a punch. The plot is silly and I knew the twist almost immediately because it was so poorly disguised.

Having now seen Bad Ass and how great it was and how perfect Trejo was for the character, it disappoints me so much that they tried to turn this into some kind of Lethal Weapon for geriatrics. Maybe they should have called it Geritol Weapon. I can't believe the same director did all three.

Skip the sequels and just watch Bad Ass. Its so much superior to this movie. They really screwed the pooch on this one.

WHERE IN THE WORLD IS CARMEN
nogodnomasters14 August 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Frank (Danny Trejo) and Bernie (Danny Glover) travel to Louisiana to attend the wedding of Carmen (Loni Love), beating up guys half they age and twice their size along the way. Danny Glover, who drinks, has had a liver transplant, and doesn't run. Carmen's dad (John Amos) is a Vietnam War vet so guess how that enters the film. Carmen is kidnapped, the sheriff who doesn't want to help in a town "just a tad bigger than Mayberry" becomes quickly a suspect in a film that would not qualify as a mystery. Mom begs our "Bad Asses" to find Carmen and the film goes through the motions of cliches and formula writing. Just tell me you didn't see the watch thing coming.

You don't have to have seen the other two films to watch this one, although I think this film would only serve the fans of the series as the writing is mindless formula fun as old guys beat up young guys and oh yea, they have to go to the proverbial strip club to find them.

This film is a soft 4 stars for the fans of series. It is everything you expect, but not much more.

Guide: F-bomb. Stripper nudity.

Attack of the angry geezers
planktonrules9 June 2015
This is the third Bad Ass film and the second that co-stars Danny Glover along with Danny Trejo, who is the star of all three movies. It's a rather slow-motion action film, with two over the hill tough guys taking on a gang in Louisiana. It's all very silly and far from a must-see film, but if you set your expectations low and just want some mindless entertainment, it's not bad.

This film begins well. Two grumpy old friends, Frank and Bernie (Trejo and Glover) are in a bank trying to work out a loan. However, it's interrupted by an attack by some armed robbers--and the two old geezers manage to take them out with style. Soon, the two become an internet sensation and are minor local heroes in L.A..

They soon are invited on an all-expense paid trip to Baton Rouge to go to a wedding. Once there, however, an armed group of intruders kidnap the bride-to-be and it's up to Frank and Bernie to kick butt and demand answers since it appears that the local cops couldn't care less about the abduction.

What follows is a rather predictable and ridiculous adventure. The dialog is occasionally pretty silly and there isn't a lot to love about this one unless you are fans of Trejo and are also willing to cut the film slack when it comes to the fighting. After all, it's hard to believe either of these geriatric heroes taking on big, tough gang members (especially Glover)...yet again and again, they SLOWLY take out everyone who comes near them. You'll just need to suspend disbelief about all this. Not a terrible film by any standard but certainly not one to rush to rent now that it's debuted on Netflix.

Frank and Bernie against Louisiana corruption.
suite921 November 2016
Warning: Spoilers
The Three Acts:

The initial tableaux: We open in Los Angeles. Frank's gym and Bernie's bodega were bombed and burned in the last film. They apply for a loan to rebuild, and are being turned down when a bank robbery starts. Our heroes break up the heist, and receive Internet and television accolades for it. Rosaria had moved to a new job in Florida. Carmen, their friend in LAPD, calls from Baton Rouge. She's getting married to Geoffrey. Her father is a generous mood, and springs for flying them in from Los Angeles.

Delineation of conflicts: The reception in Baton Rouge was lovely. Then there is a break in at Carmen's family's estate. The intruders kidnap Carmen. Frank fights them, but there are so many that they prevail.

The Sheriff is not interested in the help of the Bad Asses from Los Angeles. The kidnappers want 5 million USD. Frank and Bernie heed the call from Carmen's mother to find her daughter. Carmen's brother Ronald finds a clue: a Mr Buford at a racist strip bar. The guys are off on the chase, and it looks tough from the get go. The people behind it seem to be a group who has it in for Carmen's rich black father.

Ronald keeps getting bullied by Kyle, the son of the Sheriff's deputy. Frank and Bernie help him out, but Earl makes the case for pacifism. The kidnapping tests that pacifism severely.

Resolution: Frank and Bernie uncover some unfortunate connections. Do they have too much stacked up against them?

Silly, and stereotypical
Enchorde25 February 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Hardly a surprise, this is an action comedy with a silly story, full of clichés and stereotypical characters. Given that, it can be a somewhat entertaining way of passing time. It doesn't aspire to do more and nothing more should be expected. There is really no surprises, it is too predictable and go too far in a few jokes so that they become less fun.

If you haven't seen the last two films (Bad Ass and Bad Asses) you most likely won't enjoy this film

BAD ASSES 3: ON THE BAYOU review by Mike Smith

Frank Vega and Bernie Pope return, this time to Louisiana in an attempt to find a kidnapped friend.

I love the Bad Ass and Bad Asses movies and when I found out that there was a third coming out I was happy. After the first scene, Bad Asses 3: On The Bayou had me smiling from ear to ear. Danny Trejo and Danny Glover are a classic team, they are funny together as ass whooping crotchety old men.

The writing is really well done; this film has the same flow of over the top action, comedy, and overacting fun. Yes this film is predictable and the C.G. is very cheesy but it's a low beget and it adds to the charm. It's unfortunate that these movies are forgettable and a lot of people shy away on this movies because they are not familiar with the franchise or because it's independent. This film has heart which some big movies don't have.

If you haven't seen the last two films (Bad Ass and Bad Asses) you most likely won't enjoy this film. These movies are not to be taken too seriously, sit back, have some fun and laughs. They leave it open for a fourth movie but I think they should have capped the franchise off with this film. Either way you can count on me reviewing the fourth film if so. Bad Asses 3 is another good reason not to always reject independent sequels.

Cheers and remember life won't suck as long as there is a good movie to watch.

Comedy - not a suspense movie or action for the most part
lorilw6 March 2016
This isn't a typical action movie, it's much more of a comedy movie, so if you're looking for action - go elsewhere. The one liners that get tossed about are funny and yes the acting could use a bit more...but overall enjoyed the movie and definitely did a lot of laughing through it. Glover and Trego never fail to hit the punch line in this movie. I pulled it up on netflix for a 'look-see' if it would be any good or not, and once the show started, it had us watching and laughing throughout. I imagine some of the bad reviews are from people that wanted a serious action film and this one is no where close, it's actually a bit fake in one scene when there's a lot of shooting going on, but again it fits the comedy part of the show.

Could be the most generic franchise of all time.....l
FlashCallahan14 June 2015
Warning: Spoilers
A franchise based on a popular youtube video? It's happened/happening, and by the final shot, it seems that there is no give up yet......for the writers at least.

So this time the boys foil a robbery, the video gets posted on the net again, and they decide to take a break to the Bayou, where the comic relief woman from the second is living with her fiancée, and the bloke from Die Hard 2 and Coming To America.

No sooner as you can say 'montage of alcohol drinking', the comic relief woman is kidnapped by Duck Dynasty, and is held for a tasty ransom.

So it's up to the guys to rescue her, wearing ever ridiculous outfits, and fixing a sub-plot including some young lad getting bullied by a really greasy haired lad.

Here's a challenge for you, watch every film that Danny Trejo has appeared in, whatever quality the movie is, try it, he has been in almost every film ever made. The man was in Heat for crying out loud, and now he's comfortable making very generic, nuts n' bolts action movies.

So the best thing to do is lower your expectations, and take comfort in knowing that the two leads are endearing enough, and ignore the abysmal acting from the rest of the cast, Amos aside.

It's pretty clear who the bad guy is from the upstart, the director probably forgot to tell him not to go full pantomime.

So for the rest of the film, we have the two taking out the bad guys very slowly, Amos joining them in taking out the bad guys very slowly, and a silly twist that you could see coming from about ten minutes in,my hanks to some truly terrible narrative and acting.

But with a title like this, what else would you expect? Its watchable enough for a Sunday morning, and it's use of stock footage from Air America is both genius, and at the same time, hilarious.

Throwaway stuff of the highest order....

Bad Act?
JeromeArlettaz30 March 2015
I thank Craig for demonstrating what precisely is bad actors' direction. Most bad movies are combining bad actors, bad directors and a low budget. In this one, most of these actors have been good actors at least a couple of times. The budget is probably not bad with most scenes outdoor and a plane crash. So, to explain these awkward silences between dialogs and this feeling of kids playing the actors, I only see one cause: bad direction. After this painful experience of 85 minutes, I conclude that badly directed actors are definitely looking like bad actors. So I'd like to express my sincere apologies to all actors I've disparaged in the past: maybe they were good actors under bad direction.

What a fun (and funny) ride
Mischief81012 June 2015
I haven't laughed this hard in a long time. The title alone should tell you what to expect: a silly, entertaining flick with plenty of action that also brings belly laugh after belly laugh.

Danny Trejo and Danny Glover are chemistry on screen. John Amos and Loni Love square out a very good cast, with Ms. Love nearly stealing the show.

If you liked the first two installments of the Badass franchise, you will absolutely love this one. If this is your first encounter with Frank And Bernie and you're expecting something taut and serious, then... well... look at the title again.

This is Craig Moss really settling into the franchise and kicking it into high gear. Though billed here at IMDb as an action/crime flick, the franchise is built on a comedic foundation and Bayou delivers. I hope a Badass 4 is in the works, because like the Expendables and Fast and Furious franchises, this must go on.

Bayou is appropriately paced, well directed, well acted and side- splittingly funny. Enjoy!

Very entertaining movie
computermech25 March 2019
This movie was awesome. We loved it from start to finish. Kick ass action. Fun. Entertaining. Those who rated this movie low, expect the heroes and heroines to be perfect, although they themselves aren't. If you just relax and watch over a few beers this movie is fun.
