Stills without Mills proves to be: borrring
Stills by Alan has made perhaps a thousand Lesbian porn vignettes (including a few features) with his production partner Bree Mills in the last four years, but this forerunner shot for Wicked Pictures doesn't make the grade.
Going boy/girl this time out (he is generally in the all-girl genre when Bree is riding herd on the show) Alan does provide a distinctively glossy, upbeat and visually colorful look to the DVD. However, the five vignettes of hetero couple engaged in pantomime sex is deadly dull. Maybe Bree is in charge of the creative juices.
In fact, the opening segment starring Dani Daniels and Michael Vegas plays like a series of still life shots edited together -resembling those Galleries that appear on DVDs rather than the live action.
None of the pairings come alive, and while clearly not gonzo (what with condoms always at the ready) they are as uninteresting as wall-to-wall sex. No characterizations and now conveying of a connection cemented betwen any of the busy sex workers on the payroll.
Case in point is Ryan Driller humping Aaliyah Love in "Selfie Seduction". She wanders photogenically in a forest and texts him with photos and come-ons using a tablet (!) instead of a phone. Then they hook-up, what a yawner!
That first Dani Daniels scene uses a tablet in place of a phone, presumably to show up better on screen. I have to conclude that Alan, credited on the DVD box and opening credits as either Alan E. or Allan E., was better off toiling as a still photographer on porn shoots, before the Peter Principle elevated him to the director's chair.
