Stephen Amell led the cast of Arrow for nine seasons, becoming the face of The CW’s Arrowverse, which lasted for almost a decade. Amell is known for playing the role of Oliver Queen, playboy billionaire by day and vigilante by night. However, Amell’s own life trajectory is nothing like that of the character he embodied for eight seasons.
Stephen Amell starred as Oliver Queen / Green Arrow for eight seasons of Arrow.
During an interview, Amell opened up about his early struggles to make it as an actor and had to fight hard to make a name for himself. As a result, Amell’s origin story is in stark contrast to that of the character that made him a household name. Here is what Stephen Amell has said about his initial struggles in Hollywood and how they contrast Oliver Queen’s story.

There will be minor spoilers for "Star Wars: The Living Force" by John Jackson Miller.
"Star Wars: The Living Force" is the latest novel released by Del Rey Worlds and Lucasfilm, carrying forward the legacy of the "Star Wars" universe. Set before the events of "Star Wars: The Phantom Menace," this novel sees Qui-Gon Jinn taking the council to task for the disarray in the universe. The Jedi are paying too much attention to the bigger picture of the Cosmic Force and ignoring the individuals in the galaxy and the whims of the Living Force.
As the Jedi are closing temples on far-flung worlds because the galaxy has only grown larger and their resources haven't expanded, Qui-Gon discovers that closing temples increases crime and reduces the quality of life in the systems where it's happening. He's able to challenge the Jedi Council to go on a space road trip to...

There’s nobody quite like Harvey Specter. The character from Suits is undeniably one of the best ever created. Since the show ended, the fan base for this character has only grown stronger. As a result, the idea of a spin-off emerged called Suits L.A., and work on it is in full swing, although details are still tightly under wraps.
While it’s a spin-off, the show promises to offer audiences something new while maintaining the integrity of the original series. And Stephen Amell’s character, Ted Black, already proves that while loosely inspired by Harvey Specter, Black differs from Specter in one significant way.

How Does Stephen Amell’s Ted Black Differ From Gabriel Macht’s Harvey Specter?
As a spin-off, comparisons between Suits L.A. and the original series are inevitable, with particular scrutiny likely falling on Stephen Amell’s character, Ted Black.

The various Arrowverse crossovers have plenty of worthwhile moments where heroes of the DC universe bond and take a stand against powerful threats.
The shared universe of DC's small screen brought together some of the franchise's finest, such as Flash, Supergirl, and Green Arrow.

Stephen Amell has always proven that he’s one of the best actors out there. From playing the drug dealer and criminal extraordinaire Garrett Kelton in Code 8 to portraying the North-West Mounted Police officer Wynn Delaney in When Calls the Heart, he has exhibited his acting chops in a variety of roles.
But he’s best known for playing Green Arrow in all eight seasons of The CW’s Arrow from 2012 to 2020. The series was a big hit, leading to other superhero shows like The Flash and Supergirl.

No one can deny the fact that Amell has always brought his A-game to the role. Now, he has a condition for James Gunn if he wants his character back in the DC Universe. But it’s not clear if this could ever happen.

Charlie Hunnam was once asked to play the DC hero Green Arrow, according to a recent interview he gave to ComicBook.com. The "Rebel Moon" and "Sons of Anarchy" star doesn't specify which version of the bow and arrow-wielding hero he was approached about, but judging by how little he admits to knowing about the DC pantheon, that's not a surprise.
"I never talked to Zack [Snyder] about it," Hunnam told the outlet, recalling a story that, based on the haziness of the details, I'd venture to guess took place before the most recent James Gunn-led era of the DC cinematic universe. The question arose when an interviewer asked the actor, whose name has often come up as a popular fan cast choice for the role of Oliver Queen, if he had ever discussed the casting idea with Snyder. "Honestly, I don't remember who," he continued, noting that he did actually...

Yes, it has been suggested that the Arrowverse first took flight with Arrow‘s own October 2012 premiere. But truly, it was 14 months later, on Dec. 4, 2013 — when Barry Allen aka the would-be Flash first set foot in Starling City — that TV’s expanded DC universe started to take shape.
This is where I remind you that when The CW gave a series about Green Arrow a green light, the notion of eventually introducing other standalone hero series was but a gleam in anybody’s eye.

Last week sadly and rather suddenly we lost the great Keith Giffen. There will only ever be one Keith Giffen. He was a creator who as writer and artist has left behind a legacy of amazing comics. He had runs on comics, that are legendary. Runs that inspired the next generation. Runs that reinvented the wheel. Runs that defined characters and still define them today across all media. Runs that included the creation of some of comics greatest and most loved characters. So as Keith pulls his chair up to the great drawing board in the sky we look back on the man behind this outstanding career.
I have to confess I haven’t really read much of Giffen’s work. It is a shame that his passing sees me wanting to rectify the situation. However it does speak volumes about the legacy of work he leaves behind, that I...

In its final season, so far, C.W.’s The Flash has never really made the impression of making an honest effort to redeem itself from the mediocrity of the past few seasons, nor did it offer the long-time fans something to feel excited about—that is, until the recently released ninth episode of this season titled It’s my party, and I’ll die if I want to. It saw the return of fan-favorite CW Arrowverse icons, can be easily regarded as some of the top stuff in comic-book-oriented media on the small screen in recent times, along with HBO Max’s Titans Season 4 Episode 9 and the ongoing Superman & Lois. The long-awaited return of Green Arrow in the final season of The Flash was something that kept the fans binge-watching the series once again, and the episode brought him back with due reverence as well. As the Scarlet Speedster is approaching his last lap,...

When Oliver Queen returned via The Flash this week — the character’s first appearance since he as Spectre died (in the “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover finale) — it presented an opportunity to definitively tie up a loose end from Arrow‘s series finale.
As you may recall, Arrow‘s January 2020 series finale, titled “Fadeout,” largely revolved around the well-attended funeral for Oliver Queen. Prior to that sad, sad gathering, we realized that Oliver-as-Spectre, in the course of creating a new multiverse, had “rewritten” a few deaths from Arrow lore — including those of Oliver’s mother Moira, his best friend Tommy,...

Now that the first leg of Arrow‘s seventh season is behind us, it’s time to ponder what’s to come. Already, Oliver Queen has gotten out of prison, we’ve seen the other Emerald Archer in town unmasked, and the “Elseworlds” crossover knocked off everybody’s socks. Not a bad way to end 2018, if I may say so myself.
Where we go from here is known only to the Powers That Be, but executive producer and showrunner Beth Schwartz isn’t making it any easier for us to guess. In fact, she’s playfully taunted fans by posting a photo of episode 7×13’s script over on Twitter – but the title of said installment is obscured by a knife (seen below).
As it turns out, this’ll serve as the series’ 151st episode overall, so when we consider that the 150th episode is titled “Emerald Archer,” it’s not...

Even though Arrow isn’t building toward the future Legends of Tomorrow established with “Star City 2046,” it sure does look like cues are being taken from that dystopian adventure. After all, once you introduce a character like Connor Hawke, it stands to reason that viewers will hunger for more.
Funny enough, the Green Arrow of the future’s return may have just been spoiled by the latest person to take on the mantle. As it turns out, actress Sea Shimooka, whom you may know better as Oliver Queen’s estranged sister (Emiko?), posted the most peculiar photo on Instagram.
Unfortunately, the image has since been taken down (probably at the request of The CW), but we can tell you that it showed Shimooka in the company of Colton Haynes (Roy Harper), Andrea Sixtos (grownup Zoe Ramirez) and – get this – Joseph David-Jones, the very actor who played Connor over on Legends.

Kevin Smith is one of the most famous comic book nerds around. Not only does he host the popular Fatman on Batman podcast, but the Clerks director has penned numerous titles for Marvel and DC over the years – for characters such as Batman, Daredevil and Green Arrow – and helmed a bunch of episodes of The Flash and Supergirl. It’s surprising, then, that Smith doesn’t have any interest in directing a big budget superhero movie.
The filmmaker talked to MTV on the subject and revealed that he doesn’t think he has the right stuff to commit to such a major production. He spoke favorably about Marvel Studios stalwarts Anthony and Joe Russo though, citing them as the kind of dedicated directors who are able to hold such huge tentpole movies together.

Throughout the course of six seasons, Arrow has played host to some pretty crazy cliffhangers. And though we could debate for hours which among them were the best, you have to admit that what we witnessed back in May has to be near the top of the list.
Long story short, Oliver Queen publicly admitted that he’s the Green Arrow after turning himself over to authorities. Granted, Smallville‘s iteration of the character also revealed his secret identity, but the ramifications that followed didn’t have the high stakes of what we’ll soon witness.
Offering our biggest hint at what’s to come is the above trailer that was just screened for those lucky enough to make it to San Diego Comic-Con. In it, among other things, we see the Emerald Archer adjusting to life behind bars and meeting a few familiar faces along the way. Oddly enough,...

Following on from the shocking development of the season 6 finale, when Arrow returns it’ll be fueled by the biggest shake-up to the show’s formula in years: Oliver Queen has finally been outed as the Green Arrow and will be serving time in jail for his vigilantism when we next check in with Star City’s (former) savior.
As production on the new run has now begun, Arrow Ep Marc Guggenheim has teased fans with what’s to come on his Twitter account. Seen below, he shared a fake visitor’s pass for Slabside Maximum Security Prison, the Supermax-like Penitentiary where Ollie will be locked up when season 7 begins. “Come pay Oliver a visit,” Guggenheim captioned the image.
It’s a fun little tease, though fans have immediately spotted some curious details about the pass which may or may not be some sort of esoteric clues that Guggenheim wanted us to pick up on.

The other day, The Flash star Danielle Panabaker revealed that production had begun on the fifth season of The CW’s DC TV series. Now, it seems its sister show, Arrow, isn’t far behind, as the cast recently gathered together for the first table read of season 7.
The news was revealed via the @ARROWwriters Twitter account, which posted a photo of Stephen Amell (Oliver Queen), Emily Bett Rickards (Felicity Smoak), David Ramsey (John Diggle) and Echo Kellum (Curtis Holt), along with the caption: “Happy #Arrow table read day! A few familiar faces stopped by today…”

Hivemind announced Thursday that it has acquired the rights to “Gideon Falls,” an Image Comics horror title that will be made into an hour-long TV series.
Written by Jeff Lemire & Andrea Sorrentino — who recently worked on DC’s “Green Arrow” and Marvel’s “Old Man Logan” relaunches — “Gideon Falls” follows three strangers in the titular small town: a washed-up Catholic priest, a determined female sheriff, and a conspiracy-obsessed recluse. Though the three have nothing in common, they are brought together as they discover that a forgotten local legend may have more truth than it first appears.
Created earlier this year, the genre-oriented Hivemind’s other titles include Amazon’s “The Expanse” as well as upcoming titles like Netflix’s adaptation of the video game “The Witcher” and the feature film adaptation of the classic children’s horror series “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.”

Production is just beginning on the seventh season of Arrow and that means we now know the title of the premiere. It’s “Inmate 4587,” as revealed in a post by incoming showrunner Beth Schwartz on Twitter, who shared the first page of the episode’s script with a Green Arrow Pop Funko figure and bars laid over the image.
Of course, the title refers to Oliver Queen himself. The shock cliffhanger of the sixth season finale saw the former mayor of Star City publicly outed as the Emerald Archer once and for all, leading to his incarceration. Earlier this week, the synopsis for season 7 revealed that Queen will be detained at Slabside Maximum Security Prison, where he’ll have to face being locked up with villains he’s responsible for putting there.

Let's talk about legacy.
Usually, when talking about the legacy of something you must take into consideration impact, interaction with fans, and medium.
Because varying elements under either these categories can drastically change the legacy of a person, show, movie, etc.
If a show had a huge impact that caused a lot of buzz amongst the news world had horrible interactions with fans and/or alienates them, then their legacy would be largely affected by this fan interaction.
Or if an adaptation occurs across mediums that severs the connection to a previous medium that acts as source material that also affects the way its legacy gets interpreted, whether good or bad.
This is the case with CW Arrow and its source material, the Green Arrow comics.
The idea of legacy has been brought up recently, regarding the legacies or both mediums and whether they should be singularly integrated in one...

Though Arrow has played host to a wealth of characters taken from the comics such as Black Canary, Arsenal, Mr. Terrific, the Atom and the Emerald Archer himself, it’s also injected new personalities into the mythos throughout its run. In fact, this is a familiar practice for TV shows in the genre, lest we forget that Chloe Sullivan and Lionel Luthor were unknown quantities before Smallville came around.
Before the series debuted in 2012, one could imagine Oliver Queen existing without the likes of John Diggle or Felicity Smoak orbiting him, but now it just seems downright impossible to do so. Given that, lead actor Stephen Amell hopes these additions to the enduring tale stick around long after he’s hung up his leather hood, saying the following in an interview with The Music Australia:

The universe has quickly become the place to be. Such companies as Marvel have taken over the film world with their intricately plotted universes, in which individual projects are tied together by sharing characters, settings and plot points. DC Entertainment has films including “Justice League,” with plenty of other examples either already released or on the way.
The trend has also carried over into television. Marvel has five series on Netflix alone, four of which played into “The Defenders” crossover event series in 2017. The fifth, “The Punisher,” was launched off the title character’s appearance in “Daredevil” season two. Then there’s the “Arrow”-verse on the CW, which features such DC heroes as Green Arrow, the Flash and Supergirl.
The shared universe phenomenon is not limited to superheroes, however. AMC launched the “Walking Dead” sister series “Fear the Walking Dead” in 2015, with original series character Morgan Jones (Lennie James...

Those among you who were fans of Smallville may remember that when the Superman prequel series was in its final years, The CW was kicking around the idea of a Green Arrow spinoff. After all, if any superhero aside from Clark Kent to have appeared on the show captured the hearts of viewers, it was certainly Oliver Queen. Having been played by Justin Hartley in seasons 6-10, the impact felt by the first live action representation of the Emerald Archer was undeniable. In fact, a separate offshoot almost happened midstream, but that’s a different discussion altogether.
So, when Arrow was finally being realized – and in a universe entirely separate from Smallville, to boot – some devotees were understandably skeptical. Welcome back to another installment of Panel Discussion – this time featuring a rundown of my picks of the Top 50 comics released in April 2018. This is part one, a countdown of books 50-26… But first the caveats:
First and foremost this is simply my list and with that comes a great deal of subjectivity. Any art form is a subjective medium and taste plays a major role. So if you feel my rankings are way off you probably have a legitimate point. My hope is to simply to highlight great books that deserve attention. We too often focus on the negative so why not take some time to celebrate the positive.
Since this is my list that also means I can only rank issues I have actually read. There may be a book that is in your top five that does not make the cut. Please let me know. I try...

Ever since Tommy Merlyn was killed off way back in season 1’s finale, the producers of Arrow have thought of crafty ways for Colin Donnell to reprise his role. For the most part, those consisted of flashbacks and hallucinations, but last fall’s Crisis on Earth-x crossover saw the Nazi-ridden alternate universe’s version of Prometheus be unmasked as Tommy’s doppelganger, which had to come as a shock to a fair percentage of viewers.
But what may have been the slickest way of bringing him back was witnessed a few weeks ago when he crashed Oliver Queen’s trial in full Green Arrow regalia. Of course, speculation ran rampant as to how this was even possible up until the point of airing, but it was ultimately revealed that Christopher Chance Aka the Human Target had assumed Tommy’s likeness in order to do the Emerald Archer a solid.

And over the years, there have been a variety of comic books that have answered some of those questions, with video game series like Injustice and Marvel vs. Capcom allowing for us all to take this notion to the next level.
Regardless, there’s seemingly nothing that’ll stymie heated debates, as we learned over the weekend at Motor City Comic Con. In fact, during a panel, one fan asked Stephen Amell who’d win if the character he currently plays on television, the Green Arrow, and Hawkeye came to blows.

Across its six seasons so far, The CW’s Arrow has ticked off pretty much every major aspect of the Green Arrow’s lore from the pages of DC comics. We’ve seen him stranded on Lian Yu, form a team of allies including Black Canary and Arsenal, face villains like Deathstroke, etc. One classic element of Green Arrow’s character that’s persistently refused to surface, though, is Oliver Queen’s traditional goatee.
Sure, Stephen Amell’s version of the character is still recognizable for his facial hair, but he’s typically sported stylish stubble instead of the goatee we all want to see.
