I don’t think there’s too many bigger fans of the V/H/S horror anthology franchise than myself. I’ve loved all three that have come before V/H/S/94 – they feature a range of brilliant directors and actors in original and gory short films. I loved that this newest movie would be hitting Shudder in time for Halloween.
We start with what is the wraparound segment ‘Holy Hell’ directed by Knives and Skin director Jennifer Reed. It shows a S.W.A.T. team slowly working their way through a building which is showing on various monitors or TVs, the videotapes that lead to each other segment.
And the first segment is ‘Storm Drain’ directed by newcomer Chloe Okuno. Shown as a TV news reporter and her single camera guy following up on a local mythical creature. There’s...

Up next from Nacho Vigalondo is a sci-fi movie titled Daniela Forever, and Deadline reports that Henry Golding (Snake Eyes) will star.
Daniela Forever is said to be a science fiction romance, and XYZ is financing and launching the project for sales at the upcoming European Film Market in Berlin.
“Golding will play a man struggling to come to terms with the sudden death of his girlfriend in an accident six months prior. So, he signs up for a sleep trial that allows him to reconstruct his life with her through the use of lucid dreams.”
Nahikari Ipiña and Nacho Vigalondo are producing at Sayaka Producciones, along with Benoit Roland at Wrong Men, Leire Apellaniz at Señor y Señora, and XYZ Films.
“This movie is built around a deeply human character trapped in twisted plot, something Henry Golding is so perfect for this almost feels unreal,” said Vigalondo. “I’m...

The V/H/S found footage horror anthology franchise will continue with the release of V/H/S/99 next month, and with the film’s release date swiftly approaching a teaser trailer has arrived online. Check it out in the embed above! V/H/S/99 will be released through the Shudder streaming service on Thursday, October 20th.
The story segments that make up V/H/S/99 were directed by Maggie Levin (Into The Dark: My Valentine), Johannes Roberts (Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City), Flying Lotus (Kuso), Tyler MacIntyre (Tragedy Girls), and Joseph & Vanessa Winter (Deadstream).
V/H/S/99 harkens back to the final punk rock analog days of VHS, while taking one giant leap forward into the hellish new millennium. In V/H/S/99, a thirsty teenager’s home video leads to a series of horrifying revelations.

The found-footage style of filming has been popular with many people for a while, but V/H/S has allowed it to ascend to a slightly different level over the years as the four movies that have been released have gone and done something that many of the others have not, which is to create a series of movies that have appeared to be barely connected by one framing narrative after another but are shown to have a grander purpose in V/H/S: Viral. The framing narrative in this movie deals with Kevin, a young man that enjoys filming as much as he

Not the only Halloween-ready franchise being resuscitated this month, “V/H/S/94” puts back in action the omnibus series that was last seen seven years ago with disappointing third entry “V/H/S: Viral.” This belated return lands closer in quality to the 2012 kickoff feature than the following year’s superior “V/H/S/2,” as a mixed bag of entertainingly diverse if variably successful horror shorts. Going straight to genre streaming platform Shudder on Oct. 6, it should provide fans with a satisfying enough, seasonally apt new package of macabre tales still linked by a faux-found-footage concept.
That style does not seem a natural fit for Jennifer Reeder, who made the very mannered, David Lynchian feature “Knives and Skin” two years ago. That divisive movie certainly had a firm grip on its aesthetics, and she seems divested of both inspiration and conviction having to go with a hand-held video look here. An underwhelming wraparound frame for the other segments,...

The year is 1994. Bill Clinton is President, Hugh Grant is the world’s hottest sex symbol, and the New York Rangers have finally won the Stanley Cup for the first time in more than half a century. Meanwhile — in more relevant news — pre-millennial panic is coinciding with a boom in lo-fi consumer video and the advent of reality television as an oblivious world steels itself for the digital revolution to come. “The Blair Witch Project” won’t emerge from the woods for a little while to come, but this is the milieu from which it was born.
In other words, it should be the perfect moment in time to set a reboot (or resurrection) of the “V/H/S” films, a found footage anthology series that mined the scuzziness of the camcorder age for two installments of unsettling gonzo fun before it betrayed its roots and went online with 2014’s “V/H/S: Viral.

After three entries in three years, the V/H/S horror anthology/portmanteau series, a showcase for established and up-and-coming horror filmmakers to show horror-friendly audiences what terrifying delights they could deliver in short bursts, slipped into an extended period of quietude. That wasn’t necessarily surprising, since 2014’s third and, until now, final entry, V/H/S: Viral, wasn’t met with the same level of fervor or enthusiasm as the previous entries by horror fans, the likely result of a rushed production, a once novel, fresh idea growing increasingly stale with each entry, and an over-saturation of horror films using the found footage device. But that was then and this is now and while the fourth entry, V/H/S 94, doesn’t quite hit the horror highs of the first or second...

Marvel Studios’ Disney Plus expansion continues to chug full-steam ahead, with indie horror filmmakers Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead signing on to direct episodes of Marvel’s upcoming series “Moon Knight,” Variety has confirmed.
Benson and Moorhead join the project alongside director Mohamed Diab (“Clash”) and showrunner Jeremy Slater (“Umbrella Academy”).
Marvel has yet to officially announce the show’s cast, but in October 2020, Variety reported that Oscar Isaac was in talks to play the title role. Isaac would play Marc Spector, whose dissociative identity disorder manifests as different distinct personas. In one iteration of the character in Marvel Comics, Spector is also the embodiment of Khonshu, the Egyptian god of the moon, and Marvel Studios Kevin Feige has said the show will make use of Egyptian iconography. Ever since the setup was popularized by The Blair Witch Project over twenty years ago, the horror subgenre of found footage has never really gone out of fashion. The quality of such films is highly variable, but some of the better examples are found in the anthology series V/H/S, of which a fourth installment has been announced.
Following V/H/S, V/H/S/2 and V/H/S: Viral, V/H/S 94 will follow much the same format, but instead of a collection of disjointed shorts connected by a wraparound story, the plot of each part will form part of a single narrative pulled together by a linking tale that each segment will presumably augment with its events.
The filmmakers currently slated to provide a section of the film are Simon Barrett, writer of A Horrible Way to Die, You’re Next and The Guest, and director of Tape 49, the wraparound segment of V/H/S/2; Chloe Okuno, director...
