Vikrant Massey’s Next Film Is Titled The Sabarmati Report (Photo Credit –Instagram)
Vikrant Massey was the star of the year 2023. It must have been one of the lucky days for Indian Cinema when Vidhu Vinod Chopra decided to cast the actor in his ‘dream come true’ story, 12th Fail. After the phenomenal success and ample amount of applause, the actor has moved on to his next film – The Sabarmati Report.
Vikrant has been an actor par excellence ever since he made his debut on Television with a show called Dhoom Machao Dhoom that aired on Disney India. However, he shot to stardom while playing Shyam in Colors TV’s Balika Vadhu!
His transition from TV to film was very smooth. He started from Vikramaditya Motwane’s Lootera, where he played Ranveer Singh‘s friend. His performance was so impressive that he next turned into a breakthrough star with Zoya Akhtar‘s Dil Dhadakne Do.

The film is due to release in November during the Deepavali holiday frame in Tamil, Telugu and a few other languages. “It’s a crime thriller, it’s got a manhunt to it. ReviewDespite the flaws in the script, I hope viewers will take home a deeper understanding of the justice system and that other filmmakers will attempt to emulate Shan’s sensitivity while making movies on systemic violence.TrailerScreengrab Written by Bharathy Singaravel What a relief to see Yogi Babu in a role that doesn’t make a comic element of him, but instead, gives him space to portray a flawed and deeply human character. Bommai Nayagi, by debutant director Shan, attempts to speak about child sexual assault, and how it is interlinked with caste, class, and access to justice. Yogi Babu as Velu, a labourer in a small tea shop, who is the father of nine-year-old Bommai (Sreemathi), brings to life the world-weariness of a man who knows that the system is stacked against people like him. Survival is his priority. To that effect, he thinks that if he keeps his head down,...

NewsThe Congress chief took to Twitter to post a photo of the duo on Wednesday.Tnm StaffTwitter: @RahulGandhiIndian National Congress President Rahul Gandhi met with acclaimed director Pa Ranjith on Tuesday. Taking to Twitter to post a photo of the meeting on Wednesday, Rahul Gandhi wrote, “I met film director P A Ranjith the man behind blockbuster films like Madras, Kabali and Kaala and actor Kalaiyarasan, in Delhi yesterday. We talked about politics, films and society. I enjoyed the interaction and look forward to continuing our dialogue.” Rahul Gandhi is dressed in a bluish white shirt while Ranjith is seen sporting a smart black polo tee. The smiling men were clicked shaking hands in what seems to be a garden in the background. Present along with them was actor Kalaiarasan, who acted in Ranjith’s Attakathi, Madras and Kabali. The actor received praise from several quarters for his role as Anbu in Madras. The critically acclaimed filmmaker has been vocal about politics, both on and off camera. While the filmmaker has directed only four films, he has taken the industry by storm with the socio-political commentary in his films. Presenting a subaltern perspective through his filmmaking and exploring the uncomfortable realm of caste politics, the director has been vocal in his stance against the Neet examinations, among other pressing issues, which has been a point of contention between the state and the Central government. The director’s fiery speech on the suicide of Anita, a Dalit girl who fought against the one size fits all entrance examinations for medical studies, went viral last year. Ranjith has become the envy of the film industry after making two films with Rajinikanth, a feat formerly achieved only by decade-old directors. Rahul Gandhi’s meeting with the director comes ahead of the former’s likely bid for the country’s top job in the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha polls. Also read: It’s official! Rajinikanth’s ‘2.0’ release date has been announced...

Let us commence this week's box-office report in a very formal way, by stating the obvious- This Friday will witness the release of Kabir Khan's Salman, Kareena and Nawazuddin starrer, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, which will commence on a hurricane like start and in all probabilities cross the century mark, before the Eid-ul Fitr weekend is over. On way to box-office triumph Bajrangi Bhaijaan will smash records, left right and centre.
Wrong and delayed timing means that the well-made Sunny-Kangana starrer, I Love NY, went unnoticed netting just around 1.75 crore during the opening week.
Meanwhile one can't help but mention the other film of the same week, S.S. Rajamoli's Bahubali (Tamil and Telugu), which also released in its Hindi dubbed version. The film created history by netting nearly 100 crore (for all versions combined including Hindi), during the opening weekend from India. The Hindi version too impressed by netting 20 crore during...

For the fans of macho man, Sunny Deol, this week is going be an unconventional one! The actor will be seen in a romantic/social entertainer for a change. Not that there are any doubts about his acting capabilities as he has shown his versatility in romantic flicks like Betaab, Sunny, Darr as well Dillagi (off course with some action thrown in!). Unfortunately, the film in question, I Love NY, also featuring the lady of the moment, Kangana Ranaut, was postponed from last year, and this time around it has not been given enough time and promotion, despite good music and production values.
The new releases of last week Guddu Rangeela, Second Hand Husband and Bezubaan Ishq, fared as expected. It was just the Arshad-Amit starrer, Guddu Rangeela, which saw a reasonable weekend netting nearly 6 crore and can still hope for a recovery. Second Hand Husband came in a poor...
