This year’s WWE Battleground event is in the history books and it definitely got the WWE Universe talking about the biggest moments from the show. Thanks to the main event match with Seth Rollins defending the WWE Title against Brock Lesnar ending with The Undertaker attacking Lesnar, there’s a lot of excitement as fans wonder what might happen next.
Since Battleground isn’t considered a major event while SummerSlam on August 23 is one of the biggest ones, a lot of stories from Battleground will lead into SummerSlam. That’s why two of the biggest matches (Wyatt/Reigns along with the main event) didn’t have clean finishes.
The victory by John Cena has led to some fans being angry just because Cena wins most of his feuds and it would have meant a lot for Kevin Owens to win the Us Title from him. They still...

Third time’s the charm for WWE Battleground.
When Battleground debuted in 2013, the first incarnation of the PPV was widely-heralded as a failure. For its Monday Night Raw-level matches, and the woeful non-finish to its main event, the Wrestling Observer voted it the Worst Major Wrestling Show of the Year, and it racked up the second-lowest number of buys for a WWE PPV (pre-Network) in the last 17 years, beating only the infamous December to Dismember.
Last year’s Battleground wasn’t a huge improvement, suffering from a predictable main event, half-cooked Summerslam-lite feuds and the Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins match being pulled at the last minute. Never Forget, Never Forgive.
All eyes were on this year’s showing to buck the trend and produce a Battleground worth remembering. Well, it certainly did that.
The Undertaker returned to finally exact a measure of vengeance on the...

There was a trend that took place during WWE Battleground with wrestlers doing spots on the side of the ring apron. It’s something that management has encouraged talent to do because they saw how common it is in Ring of Honor, according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio.
Any regular viewer of Ring of Honor knows they have been doing those kinds of bump for many years, so it’s definitely plausible to think that there was a Roh influence on it. One of the more famous ring apron spots that WWE wrestlers have done was when The Undertaker did the leg drop on the apron while his opponent’s head was under the bottom rope.

WWE’s Battleground is in its third year now, and it’s fair to say that it’s probably never going to be one of the company’s major shows. The name is unimaginative for one, and the cards haven’t exactly been stellar since its recent inception either, with 2015’s edition firmly joining them.
In fairness, there wasn’t a single terrible match on the card, just a lot of passable fare and bouts that didn’t really ignite fans’ imaginations. Still, as ever, there were a ton of hilarious, weird and off-the-wall moments that made it worth watching, from some distractingly horny fans in the front row, to Xavier Woods being Xavier Woods, and of course, the fiery trainwreck that was the main event.
It wasn’t a show for the ages and sadly there weren’t too many memorable signs from the St. Louis, Missouri crowd, but...

WWE Battleground took place on Sunday night in front of a loud crowd in St. Louis that witnessed several long matches and an ending that no WWE fan is sure to forget.
Here are the match results from the show.
During the Kickoff Show, King Barrett defeated R-Truth. This is likely the end of their feud that went on for way too long.
Randy Orton d. Sheamus – They had a very competitive match with the crowd firmly behind Orton because he’s from St. Louis. Towards the end of the match, Sheamus hit a Brogue Kick, but Orton was smart enough to grab the ropes to avoid being pinned. Shortly after that, Orton hit a Rko out of nowhere to a big reaction and covered Sheamus for the win.
Stephanie McMahon did an interview with Jojo where she announced a divas triple threat match for later in the show.

Outside interference is expected for tonight’s Roman Reigns vs Bray Wyatt match at WWE Battleground, which could involve the returning legend Sting.
Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio reports that the finish for tonight’s match will likely see Luke Harper interfere to give the Wyatt family leader the victory. Sting may also appear as the current WWE creative plan is for him to face Bray Wyatt at SummerSlam.
If Sting doesn’t appear tonight, he will soon as a Wyatt vs Reigns marquee match is expected for next month’s PPV, though Meltzer does warn that plans may change as Wyatt wasn’t originally Sting’s opponent for SummerSlam.
The Undertaker is also set to return to WWE, likely tonight at Battleground, but it’s not known who he will face at SummerSlam. WWE has already produced advertisements for both men in anticipation for the summer spectacular.

In the weekly analysis of the best wrestling matches from WWE, Nxt, Lucha Underground, Ring of Honor, and Tna, there is bound to be an off week. This might be the first off week in the pro-wrestling world in the short history of this article.
Don’t get me wrong, there still was plenty of amazing matches, including that triple threat match on Raw for the chance to face John Cena. Another great bout was the main event Nxt Women’s Championship on Wednesday night. Both of these matches have charted high on the list of the ten best this week, but if it wasn’t for a recent PPV replay match from Tna there might not have been ten truly good matches in the past seven days. That’s bound to happen.
This is a rare week where there were no special events from WWE and no Pay-Per-Views from any other companies.

WWE Battleground is live this Sunday from St Louis, Missouri, headlined by one of the biggest WWE title matches of the year. Seth Rollins versus Brock Lesnar promises to be a fascinating battle, the sublime ability of the champion against the destructive force of the challenger. It has a big fight feel to it, the sense of occasion that makes it unmissable.
The co-main event is John Cena putting his Us Title on the line against Kevin Owens. This also carries huge expectations, as both men look to follow up on the quality of their previous two battles.
The rest of the card is average. Roman Reigns versus Bray Wyatt, and Randy Orton versus Sheamus, are the highlights of the mid-card. The Prime Time Players versus The New Day, and R Truth versus King Barrett, make up the rest of the action.
But coming out of the show, it...

This Sunday’s WWE Battleground pay-per-view will be headlined by Seth Rollins defending the WWE Title against Brock Lesnar. It is Lesnar’s first chance to win the WWE Title back after losing it at WrestleMania 31 when Rollins cashed in the Money in the Bank briefcase to escape with the gold.
The build for the match has been pretty good with Lesnar injuring both Jamie Noble and Joey Mercury two weeks ago while also “breaking the ankle” of Kane this past week on Raw. That means that Rollins is all alone with no backup, or at least that’s what WWE wants fans to think.
Today’s poll is a look at the three options that are in play in terms of who might leave Battleground as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Here are the choices.

After a string of Pay Per Views which hit the WWE Network on a fortnightly basis, the long five week wait between Money in the Bank and Battleground has felt like an eternity.
It’s been helped by the return of Brock Lesnar however, and with a roster which is fuller than it has been in some time, this Sunday’s PPV features a lot of matches and a lot of high expectations (especially as what happens on the night will begin to set the stage for what’s to come at the Brooklyn bound SummerSlam).
The card for Battleground is interesting, but only two or three matches really stand out as being important when it comes to the direction of the WWE and its top Superstars this summer. With more time to build up to the event than they’ve had for a while, will WWE Creative deliver or disappoint?...

WWE Battleground is this Sunday, and like many July Pay Per Views, it sets the stage for Summerslam, which is the second-biggest Pay Per View of the year. July is also a time where the post-Wrestlemania creative lull is over, and the storylines end up being just as hot as the summer heat. Remember on July 4 in 2005 where Shawn Michaels turned heel after he superkicked Hulk Hogan?
This weekend’s Pay Per View looks to have a great card. Brock Lesnar is making one of his rare wrestling appearances as he faces Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. John Cena and Kevin Owens are having their rubber match after two fantastic matches, only this time the United States title is on the line. Roman Reigns faces Bray Wyatt, the Tag Team titles are on the line, and the Divas division got a huge shot in...

WWE Battleground is this Sunday and there are several matches that are sure to entertain. Brock Lesnar will finally get his chance to regain the title that he lost without being pinned or submitted against Seth Rollins. Also, John Cena defends his U.S. Championship against Kevin Owens and considering how amazing their first two matchups were, this one could be equally as fantastic. There’s also a rumor of an Undertaker return, but that’s not confirmed at this point.
The show does look good but predicting this round of losers is not quite so easy. It’s hard to argue that any of the competitors in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and U. S. Championship matches need to be walking away with defeats. They’re all great competitors and it might prove too damaging in some cases if the losses are too decisive.

There’s a Huge rumour floating around that Sunday’s WWE Battleground event will see The Undertaker make a surprise return, which would then lead to a match at SummerSlam.
The rumour comes from a user named “falconarrow” on Reddit, who mentioned a major spoiler regarding Battleground. While he didn’t specifically say The Undertaker, he said that “he’s back” and when another user suggested Steve Austin, he said: “No not him. The guy with the coffins.”
While there are always going to be credibility questions that arise when somebody on Reddit posts something, “falconarrow” has actually got a good track record for spoilers in the recent past, correcting predicting; Samoa Joe’s WWE debut, Mark Henry replacing Rusev in the Elimination Chamber match for the Ic Title, Ryback winning the Ic Title, the Nxt Divas invasion and a few other things. The biggest storyline in WWE this week was Seth Rollins getting some help from his friends in The Authority. The group worked together to slow down Brock Lesnar, who rarely takes a beating like the one he suffered on Raw. It was a good way to progress things in the WWE Title feud that will lead to Rollins defending his gold against Lesnar at WWE Battleground on July 19.
That return of the united Authority group continued on Smackdown when Big Show attacked Ryback with two Chokeslams during Ryback’s match with Kane. Perhaps this will mean that Big Show is back with The Authority as well. Smackdown ended with Rollins beating Dean Ambrose again, thanks in part to the distraction of Joey Mercury and Kane. Meanwhile, poor Jamie Noble is out with three broken ribs due to Lesnar being a bit too aggressive.

WWE’s situation with Brock Lesnar is getting more uncertain as the WWE superstar nears the end of his current contract. The Wrestling Observer reports that there has been a lot of talk that Lesnar’s price tag might not justify using him for shows other than Royal Rumble and WrestleMania. The Observer goes on to cast doubt over Lesnar’s ability to be financially viable for WWE. The company is in a period of cost cutting as they look to handle the expense of the WWE Network. Lesnar is a very expensive talent to use and he hasn’t impacted on the product as much as WWE would hope. For example, WWE Battleground (without Lesnar) did 31,000 Us PPV buys in July. In comparison, Night Of Champions (with Lesnar) did 30,000 Us PPV buys in September. Granted there is the Network, but that doesn’t cover for it, as...

As one of WWE’s B pay per views, you can’t really set expectations too high. Fortunately, Battleground delivered a mostly okay PPV, with some pretty awesome high points and equally disappointing lost points and bad booking.
We start the main card with the Usos successfully defending their titles in a pretty good 2 out of 3 falls match against Erick Rowan and Luke Harper of the Wyatt Family. First fall went to the Wyatt Family who spent most of it applying chin locks and stomping the legal Uso, playing the isolation game before Harper delivered a big boot to Jimmy for the pin. Second fall was much of the same, Rowan and Harper using their size and strength against their opponents until a beaten Jimmy tags in Jey who gets the roll up on Harper for fall number 2. With the momentum in their favour, Jey and Jimmy start kicking it up a notch,...

Leading the final charge towards SummerSlam, Battleground has become the PPV where WWE lines up all of its ducks going into the third of its big four presentations (after Royal Rumble, Wrestlemania and prior to Survivor Series).
This year they managed to not only put together a great card, but in terms of match quality they damn near knocked it out of the park.
As regular readers know, I love me a bit of a Battle Royale (the Rumble being my favourite flavour) so the standing room only clash for the vacant WWE Intercontinental Championship belt had me at hello. Man of the match, as per usual, was Kofi Kingston who performed his now requisite elimination save with aplomb, but the end of the bout caught me completely by surprise proving that Creative are still capable of pulling a fast one when they need to.

The week after WWE Battleground was certainly an eventful one, but what’s gotten more attention than the results of the pay-per-view is a moment many wrestling fans thought may never come, as Sting made his first official appearance at a WWE event, joining a panel to debut his new WWE action figure.

A video promo for SummerSlam has confirmed that John Cena vs Brock Lesnar will be the main event. The video appears to have been a pay per view teaser for Mts.ca/ppv.
Obviously the spot was never meant to get out this early, with it effectively undermining this Sunday’s WWE Battleground pay per view. Then again, there’s no confirmation that Cena will be Champion going into the Lesnar match, so that still leaves this Sunday’s main event with some unpredictability.
The video is a very compelling sell for why you should watch Cena vs Lesnar this August. It puts over Brock strongly as a former Ufc Heavyweight Champion. That’s something WWE should have done a lot more of in previous feuds. Lesnar is a legitimate hard man, he sold a millions buys per a show for the Ufc with his tough guy status.
