A Duet
boblipton7 April 2018
Here's something a little lighter than usual from the series of three-minute musical shorts produced in Germany from 1906 to. 1910 - twenty years before most people think of the birth of talkies. Instead of serious music, it's a duet from an operetta, THE DOLLAR PRINCESS.

Because of the primitive state of microphones and cameras, it was, impossible to have th performers move about the stage while, singing, so they emerge from the wings, stand in the center, and sing half to the camer and half to each other. It's not terribly exciting now, but eleven decades ago it was an unprecedented idea. So keep that in mind the next to you try something that people will do every day in a century.
