96 Ways to Say I didn't Love the Watch

Warning: Spoilers
"96 Ways to Say I Love You" is a British 11-minute live action short film from 2015 and the first directorial effort by director Daisy Aitkens, who also wrote the script here and who at that point was rather known for being an actress if anything. This work by the Australian got a massive boost thanks to David Tennant starring in here as one of the major characters. So if you like him, then maybe watch it. Otherwise, it may be better to skip it. The characters in this dialogue-driven movie are neither too interesting nor too likable I'd say in a way where you really want them to find happiness. The writing isn't always bad, but sometimes it just did not feel really authentic unfortunately. The film also loses a few points as it, despite the comedy, feels like it has a tendeny to take itself more seriously than it has any right to. So as a whole, I am underwhelmed and glad it was a pretty short work and I cannot say it made me curious about Aitkens' future projects. But I see she is still young, so I hope she can step things up. For a rookie effort, this was an acceptable work, but by general standards I give it a thumbs-down. Watch something other instead.
