"Verhängnisvolle Nähe" tells the story of a serial killer whose victims are young prostitutes. Things become complicated when the investigator's husband suddenly becomes the prime suspect, sending her through an emotional rollercoaster.
This movie is very German. I don't know how they do it, but most German movies somehow share an understanding of aesthetics and storytelling that somehow make them easily identifiable. The plot itself is not bad, even though you can argue how realistic this heavy personal involvement by the police is. Apart from that there are some nice twists and you don't always know who you can trust, even though there are not really scenes that have you excitedly sitting on the edge of your chair.
All in all this is a nice one time watch, not a bad crime movie, but also pretty much the standard for such a production in Germany.
