The 123 Kid sells out!
callanvass1 March 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Live from Brandon, Manitoba, Canada

Your hosts are Vince McMahon & Jerry Lawler

Gorilla Monsoon is questioning The 123 Kid's impartiality because of the tension between him and Razor. Because of this, the Intercontinental Title is no longer on the line tonight in the match between Razor Ramon and Sycho Sid.

Hunter Hearst Helmsley Vs Henry Godwin

The match never really gets underway. Henry Godwin ends up slopping himself and chasing Hunter all the way to the dressing room. I'm assuming they cut time off this because of Razor vs Sycho Sid and the face-off between Bret Hart and Diesel later in the night (not that I'm complaining!)

We get a Survivor Series report with Dok Hendrix.

Next up is a video package of Shawn Michaels. It was pretty decent for 1995's standards.

Ahmed Johnson vs Jake Steele

Ahmed wins with The Pearl River Plunge. This was a dominant squash win for Ahmed, I don't have much else to say about it.

1/4*

Ahmed warns The British Bulldog that if he comes to the ring at Survivor Series on Sunday, he's gonna break him off something proper, whatever the hell that means!

It's the face to face interview between Diesel and Bret Hart, only it's not in the ring. It's on two split screens. I'll list the highlights of the interview for you

Vince asks Diesel about Bret's claim to be the best. Diesel says Bret is pretty good, but right now, Diesel is better.

Vince asks Bret about what he thinks about Diesel being the leader of the new WWF Generation. Bret says he unfairly lost the WWF title at Survivor Series in 94 and Diesel never pinned him. He also says it was Diesel's toughest match to date. Diesel says Bret never asked for a rematch and that Shawn Michaels also gave him a run for his money.

Vince asks Bret if there is any jealousy involved. Bret says he has the utmost respect for Diesel and holding the title for almost a year is a remarkable accomplishment. He says Diesel has trouble with technical wrestlers and he's avoided technical wrestlers for the most part. Diesel refutes this and says he's faced everybody.

Vince asks Diesel how he plans to win. Diesel says he's gonna use his power and try to end it quickly. He's gonna do what he does best and beat people up. Bret says this will be the toughest battle he's ever had. He claims that the first two matches they had were intense matches and this one will be no different. He says he's gonna try to wear Diesel down. He compares himself to a Timex watch. He takes a licking and keeps on ticking.

Vince asks what it will mean to Diesel if he beats Bret at Survivor Series. He calls Bret a true professional, but in both their matches he's had him pinned with a Jackknife powerbomb, but it's been marred by interference. He admits it'll be a dogfight, but he's smarter and better than he was in January during their last match together.

Vince asks Bret what his motivation is this time around. He says for the past year, Diesel has walked around with his (Bret's) WWF title. At Survivor Series, everybody will find out who the best really is.

Thoughts.

There was nothing to edgy here. Both were confident babyfaces showing respect to each other. I admit that I'm not a big Kevin Nash fan, but he handled himself well here. Bret was also enjoyable and assertive. It did a good job of selling their match at Survivor Series.

King Mabel (W/Sir Mo) Vs Roy Raymond

Mabel wins with a belly to belly suplex. This was complete and utter destruction from Mabel. Mabel was awfully stiff in this match.

1/4*

Non-Title

Sycho Sid (W/Ted Dibiase) Vs Razor Ramon

The 123 Kid is the guest referee. Sycho Sid wins with a powerbomb, but not without nefarious means. Razor had the match won with The Razor's Edge, but The Kid pulled Sid off. When Sid hit the powerbomb, The Kid counted the three really fast. It turns out, The 123 Kid has souled out to Ted Dibiase. This was better than I expected. Both Sid and Razor were above average big men that could put on decent matches. I wouldn't call this one great by any means, but it was watchable. The Kid's heel turn rejuvenated his career and he'd start a feud with Razor

*1/2

Razor goes after Dean Douglas backstage just as Raw goes off the air.

Final Thoughts.

This is one of the better episodes from 95. The Bret and Diesel face-off was pretty good and nothing was truly horrible in this episode. The matches aren't very memorable, but the storyline development was well done. Overall, it was OK for a go home show.

The Kid Counts 1-2-3.
clayface919 March 2020
The show is supposed to open with Hunter Hearst Helmsley versus Henry O. Godwinn, but the match doesn't happen for a reason that I won't spoil. Dok Hendrix gives the Survivor Series Slam Jan. We see a rather long segment about Shawn Michaels. Ahmed Johnson makes short work of Jake Steele. Vince McMahon interviews Johnson after the match and he mumbles something. Vince interviews Diesel and Bret Hart about their Survivor Series match against each other. Jerry Lawler takes on Vince McMahon in a game of Karate Fighters (no kidding!). King Mabel squashes Roy Raymond (TV Detective). The main event is Razor Ramon versus Sid with special referee the 1-2-3 Kid. The main event is good, but the rest of the show sucks.
