The first issue of Marvel Comics' latest event series, Blood Hunt, hit stands today. However, it wasn't what we expected from a comic that's mostly promised to pit Earth's Mightiest Heroes against a seemingly endless vampire hoard.
It begins with the world's Darkforce users being turned into portals which have blocked out the sun across the globe. With that, vampires emerge from the shadows, feeding on humans and turning countless others.
The Avengers attempt to fend them off and, after he asks Miles Morales/Spider-Man for a favour, Blade reaches out to them with the promise of information capable of helping turn the tide. However, when his truck is teleported to their base, a group of ultra-vampires known as the Bloodcoven emerge instead.
They make short work of the team, either incapacitating or killing them. Black Panther and Thor both die, though the latter buys Captain America, Iron Man, Captain Marvel,...

Why Did DeWanda Wise Leave Captain Marvel? Actress Breaks Silence - Main Image
Marvel found its Maria Rambeau in Lashana Lynch, but before the British actress took the role, DeWanda Wise was supposed to play Carol Denver’s best friend in the 2019 Captain Marvel. However, she left the project before the production began, and Wise has now broken her silence about the real reason behind her exit.
Wise was cast as Maria Rambeau in January 2018 but was forced to part ways with the project in March of the same year before the filming started that Spring.
At the time, it was revealed that her departure was due to scheduling conflicts with the production of She’s Gotta Have It Season 2.
However, some couldn’t help but notice Wise’s words when she said making a Marvel movie was her “own personal nightmare.” So, what’s the truth about her exit?

Jurassic World Dominion star DeWanda Wise was originally cast as Captain Marvel's Maria Rambeau in early 2018, but later exited the movie before production began later that year.
Lashana Lynch soon replaced her and has since played the character in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and The Marvels.
While it was initially reported that Wise left Captain Marvel due to scheduling issues with She's Gotta Have It season 2, the actress has since been quoted as calling Marvel Studios' approach to filmmaking "[her] own personal nightmare."
Talking to The Direct, Wise explained that her comments were taken out of context and confirmed her Captain Marvel departure boiled down to a conflict with her television work.
"No, but that was a funny headline. I had to exit because it conflicted with Season 2 of 'She's Gotta Have It,'" she confirmed. "It was just both of those things were true at one time.

Four years after Covid-19 upended the world, we're all still just scrambling to catch up. So many industries are having a rough go of it, and Hollywood is no exception. Even the almighty Marvel Studios has fallen on hard times, with several Marvel Cinematic Universe films seeing lower-than-expected returns at the box office. That downward trend culminated with last year's "The Marvels" becoming the lowest-grossing MCU movie ever. How dire was it? The follow-up to the billion-dollar smash-hit that was 2019's "Captain Marvel" made less than DC's notorious "Green Lantern" from 2011, the first Nicolas Cage "Ghost Rider" movie, and the massive flop that was Fox's X-Men pic "Dark Phoenix." Just let that sink in for a minute.
So, what gives? Could it be that Disney saturating the market with MCU media, with an emphasis on quantity over quality, hurt the brand? Or that the continuing impact of the pandemic on...

The X-Men have finally come back home to the MCU after the acquisition of Fox Studios by Disney. The characters will be making their official MCU debut with the upcoming film Deadpool & Wolverine, which sees Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and a whole bunch of other actors crossing over to the franchise.
The MCU has also reportedly begun work on making an X-Men film. An industry insider recently reported that the studio was looking for writers who could balance comedy and drama. The report also mentioned that the new films would focus more on the female mutants. While previous female-centered Marvel films have not worked for the franchise, it might just be the best foot forward with the X-Men.

Marvel fans have been eagerly awaiting more female-led superhero flicks to highlight the powerful women of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a world where male superheroes predominate. However, recent reports have suggested that the future of such projects could very well be at risk, making fans frustrated and disappointed.
Teyonah Parris’ character Monica Rambeau would have had her own solo MCU series if Brie Larson’s The Marvels had not been met with such dismal critical reception. Although Monica Rambeau made a fleeting appearance in Nia DaCosta’s The Marvels (2023), the character made her official debut in Disney+’s WandaVision.

‘The Marvels’ Set unfortunate Records: Lowest-Grossing MCU Film and Box Office Disappointment
Critics pointed to the film’s uninspiring plot as the primary reason for its lackluster performance, but negative buzz plagued the project long before its release.
Following the disappointing performance of ‘The Marvels,’ Bob Iger conceded that the film’s quality was lacking and hinted at the need for adjustments in future projects. With only ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ slated for release in 2024, Marvel Studios is shifting its focus towards prioritizing quality over quantity.
Several projects in development are now under review, with Kevin Feige emphasizing the importance of investing in “sure hits” rather than launching uncertain franchises. Amidst this shift, Teyonah Parris’s Monica Rambeau, originally set for a standalone Disney+ series, has according to Daniel Richtman had her project canceled. Instead, her story will be integrated into other MCU projects, abandoning plans for a standalone narrative.

‘The Marvels’ broke several unflattering records on release. It is currently the lowest-grossing MCU movie and the only movie not to break the $100 Million mark at the domestic box office.
The movie was mostly criticized due to having a bland and uninspiring story, but the negative publicity surrounding it started way before it was even released.
The failure was so significant that Bob Iger commented on it, admitting that the quality wasn’t the greatest and that the studio has to change something going forward. ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is the only project scheduled to be released in 2024, the studio is currently focusing on quality over quantity as several projects in development are being “reconsidered.” Feige wants to focus on “sure hits” instead of launching no franchises that he is not certain to what extent fans will accept.

Back in the ’90s, the original X-Men: The Animated Series gained a following precisely because it could translate the tangled soap-opera storylines from the comic franchise into compelling, but easily digestible chunks. X-Men ’97 continues this tradition, but for a very different audience. Where only big nerds knew about Gambit or Deadpool in the ’90s, now they’re household names.
And yet, X-Men ’97 goes even deeper, filling the screen with deep-cut Marvel characters from both the world of mutants and the cosmos. Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel is a movie star. "The Marvels" has been cited as another sign of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's fall from dominance, but everyone loves young actor Iman Vellani as this spunky heroine. /Film even named Kamala the best movie hero of 2023 and proclaimed her the future of the MCU.
Of course, Kamala comes from Marvel Comics and was co-created by G. Willow Wilson, Sana Amanat, Stephen Wacker, Adrian Alphona, and Jamie McKelvie. The comics made a bizarre move of synergy in 2023; between Kamala's Disney+ show "Ms. Marvel" and the theatrical run of "The Marvels," she heroically dies in "Amazing Spider-Man" #26 (by Zeb Wells and John Romita Jr.), published in May 2023.
Wells' "Amazing Spider-Man" isn't exactly a fan-favorite (the stink of breaking up Peter and Mj has carried across his run) and this was a low point. It was the cheapest of cheap melodrama and Kamala perished while pulling guest star duty.

2023 was a difficult year for Disney. It was the first year in recent times that the company did not have a billion-dollar movie at the box office. All of its major projects flopped (when you take into account expectations), especially MCU projects, with ‘The Marvels’ seeing record-breaking failure, being the first MCU movie not to cross the $100 million threshold at the domestic box office.
Led by this, Iger announced months ago that the studio would be changing its strategy. Focusing on less content output, he also wants to focus on sure hits, meaning that some rumored projects are no longer in development. Recently, the rumors were that the planned ‘Captain Marvel’ and ‘Ant-Man’ installments were canceled.
All of this will inevitably have effect on their workforce, and luckily, currently, it affects only a small number of employees.

In 2023, Disney faced challenges as it didn’t have any billion-dollar movies at the box office for the first time in recent years. Most of its major projects, especially those in the MCU, failed to meet expectations. ‘The Marvels’ notably underperformed, becoming the first MCU film to not reach $100 million domestically.
In response, Iger announced changes to the studio’s strategy, opting for fewer releases and prioritizing guaranteed successes. This led to the cancellation of some rumored projects, including planned ‘Captain Marvel’ and ‘Ant-Man’ installments.
These changes are likely to impact their workforce, but fortunately, for now, only a small number of employees are affected. Marvel recently laid off 15 employees across Marvel Entertainment in New York and Marvel Studios in Burbank, mainly junior staff in production and development. This is due to Marvel reassessing and reducing their upcoming slate, coinciding with Marvel Studios having only one feature release this year,...

Unlike their golden run on the big screen till phase 3, Marvel didn’t quite replicate its huge success on the small screen, with most of the Disney Plus MCU shows earning less-than-stellar reception. While fans have complained about MCU’s recent catalog being bloated following the abundance of TV shows, Marvel has also abandoned an overwhelming number of TV shows over the years.
This involves several renowned superheroes, including a Captain Britain show, which was greenlit long before the rise of Disney Plus and MCU TV shows.

Back in 2016, rumors regarding a Captain Britain show being in the early stages of development emerged. Poster artist Clara McAvoy claimed she was being paid to do a promo poster for it, assuring fans an official announcement might be heading our way in early 2017 or late 2016. Unfortunately, it never happened, leading many to speculate Marvel might have put the kibosh on it.

Prime Video’s adaption of the Fallout game franchise is looking like a hit.
The first season of the sci-fi action-comedy has opened this week to a 92 percent average positive review score on Rotten Tomatoes (which is just shy of HBO’s post-apocalyptic video game adaptation, The Last of Us). The first season — which seems very likely to earn a speedy renewal — has been a five-year labor of love from showrunners Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Captain Marvel) and Graham Wagner (Silicon Valley) who, along with executive producers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, have brought the game’s world of a Wild West wasteland to life.
The secret to the show’s success seems to be successfully capturing the game franchise’s tricky balance of drama, graphic violence and off-beat humor — something plenty of Western projects have tried and failed to do the in the past (remember Will Smith’s Wild Wild West?...

Five years ago, a serial killer terrorized Chicago. Detective Dan Lawson was assigned to the case but couldn’t bring the killer to justice. It left him a badly damaged man, drinking on the job and obsessed with revenge. Doubly so because one of the victims was his own girlfriend whom he discovered, her head and limbs in the shape of a cross, her torso missing.
In Edinburgh, Detective Glen Boyd finds himself investigating a murder that looks to be the work of the same person. He reaches out to the Chicago Pd, who are only too happy to put Lawson on the next flight to Scotland. Fortunately, there weren’t any motherfucking snakes on this motherfucking plane.
Things, of course, don’t go well.

While Superhero-fatigue was not at its peak, several movies from both superhero brands— Marvel and DC Studios, enjoyed the heydays at the box office. Amid that, stand-alone female-led movies have also seen astonishing success.
Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman
Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman starring Gal Gadot, in particular, was the perfect example of the rise of female-led superhero flicks as the 2017 movie went on to be a critical darling with a stunning box-office performance. Fox’s X-Men movie series based on the Marvel characters also enjoyed a mild buzz for a female-led movie with Dafne Keen but it did not see the light of day as of yet.

The moment that it started to seem possible that Bob Iger could lose the battle to keep dissident shareholder Nelson Peltz off the Disney board was on March 21, when leading proxy advisory firm Institutional Shareholder Services announced its support for the activist investor. Days later, the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS) took it a step further, saying it was voting its shares not only for Peltz but for his associate, former Disney CFO Jay Rasulo. Now that it’s over, it’s fair to ask: What were they thinking?
Iss explained its decision by rattling off a string of issues, but the big one was succession, which had been notoriously botched with the Bob Chapek interregnum after Iger had postponed his retirement no fewer than four times. “Dissident nominee Peltz, as a significant shareholder, could be additive to the succession process, providing assurance to other investors that the board...

Ripped action stars have been around since the '80s when Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone battled it out to see who had the bigger muscles, the most guns, and who could beat up the most bad guys. These days, being in peak physical shape for a role is pretty much the norm. Unfortunately, this has meant many actors feel more pressure than ever to get in the best possible shape, often leading them to follow dodgy and dangerous methods in pursuit of the ideal movie star physique.
For example, it's been reported that Marvel molds actors into superhero shape using a controversial source. Health expert Dr. Todd Schroeder, who was interviewed for the book "MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios," claimed that "fifty to seventy-five percent" of Marvel Cinematic Universe actors take steroids or other performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs), "at least for the short term." In the book, Dr. Schroeder...

Joe Simon and Jack Kirby created Captain America in 1940 as a symbol of American propaganda. Enhanced by a powerful steroid, Steve Rogers was given over to the American military, given a colorful, American flag costume, and ordered to pummel Nazis. Indeed, on the cover of "Captain America Comics" #1, Steve can be seen punching Adolf Hitler in the face. After WWII ended, Captain America has been adrift in Marvel Comics, only finding usefulness as the leader of a ragtag group of other superbeings. It's astonishing how successful the character has been in the last 60 years or so, given that he clearly exists as a still-living relic of the Greatest Generation.
In 1944, Captain America first appeared in cinemas as the star of a 15-part Republic Pictures serial starring Dick Purcell. The character was altered dramatically for the serial, however. Instead of a weakling soldier named Steve Roger enhanced by steroids, Captain American...

Since its release, there have been questions about the possibility of The Marvels sequel. At some point, audiences believed the superhero character, Captain Marvel, would have her own trilogy. However, there’s no denying that The Marvels underperforming Box Office earnings of $206.1 million set a record as the lowest-grossing film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s (MCU). The first movie, Captain Marvel, released in Phase Three of the MCU’s The Infinity Saga, was a massive success. It became one of the MCU’s billion-dollar films. Its sequel, The Marvels, was released in Phase Five of The Multiverse Saga. Whether the first sequel’s

It’s a rough time for Call of Duty. On one hand, developers are decorating the franchise like a garden, fans are emphasizing them to water it more so it remains healthy. Since Modern Warfare 3‘s release, players have been active more in pointing out the persisting issues than playing the game. Even Warzone has lost its charm and fans want the original one back so they can enjoy it.
More than its campaign, fans have been spending a lot of time in multiplayer and battle royale modes of the game. Developers tried to get ahead of the curve in contrast to the previous games, incorporating multiplayer aspects in the campaign to render them as open combat missions. Fans didn’t like it, they failed.

Uncork the champagne and prep the Disney yacht because the Walt Disney Company and CEO Bob Iger have reasons to celebrate after activist investor Nelson Peltz failed to secure a seat on the board for himself and former Disney CEO Jay Rasulo.
Peltz aimed to kick Disney directors Maria Elena Lagomasino and Michael Froman from their prominent positions, replacing them with Peltz and Rasulo. Peltz failed after launching an aggressive campaign in January via his Trian Partners. Still, the effort petered out in February after Iger announced a studio-wide reboot, causing Disney’s share prices to skyrocket.
The proxy battle between the mouse-eared company, Iger and Peltz, got nasty as both parties vowed to control the Walt Disney Company empire. Disney even went so far as to release a political-style ad framing Trian in a less-than-favorable light. Trian clapped back with a statement saying they were not targeting Iger but the board overall.

Brie Larson won the Oscar for Best Actress for “Room” in 2016. Since then she has worked primarily in major franchises — appearing in “Avengers: Endgame” and a handful of other MCU projects as Captain Marvel and in the “Fast and Furious” film series. The actress hasn’t really found a project to show the talent she displayed in her tour de force performance in “Room” until now.
She stars in “Lessons in Chemistry,” the Apple TV+ show based on the novel of the same name by Bonnie Garmus. It follows Larson as Elizabeth Zott, a lab tech and chemist who uses her new job hosting a 1960s TV cooking show to educate housewives on scientific topics. The result is an entertaining period story in which Larson utilizes her distinct energy and impressive range to full effect. Larson injects Elizabeth with intelligence and heart but also zip, determination, and frustration in a well-rounded performance.

Although there are multiple star-studded franchises in all of Hollywood’s entertainment industry, perhaps none comes close to such immaculate box office success as the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Especially when it comes to worldwide openings, the MCU is widely the chart dominator and has achieved some of the most jaw-dropping feats as far as the box office is concerned.
The MCU is still dominating Hollywood’s entertainment industry.

It began with 2008’s “Iron Man,” a film that introduced the world to Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark with the hint that he could be part of something greater. Thirty-two films later, the story of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is still being told, albeit with various tributaries and detours that introduce new characters and new worlds that may or may not cross paths one day. Each film in the MCU stands on its own to some degree, but like building blocks, they all connect as part of one interconnected universe. And in that way, watching the Marvel movies in order tells one grand story.
There are a couple of different ways to watch the Marvel movies in order, but below we run down how to watch the MCU in chronological and release date order. Indeed, some films like “Captain Marvel” and “Captain America: The First Avenger” are full-on prequels...

The Marvel Comics fandom often questions it as to who is the more powerful superhero team in the Marvel Universe, The Avengers, or The X-Men. While their popularity and influence in the world of comic books might be neck-to-neck, fans argue that the powers they collectively possess are anything but equal.

Feuling this flame, there have been many occasions in the comic books where both these teams have butted heads with each other seeing the volatile nature of their existence.
In Uncanny X-Men #3, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes were all set to face the mutants in an all-out war, which was miraculously stopped by Tempus, an X-Men who stopped every single Avenger single-handedly with her Temporal Manipulation powers.

The Listener has had a long and winding journey to its late March 2024 release. The movie, opening in theaters and available on video-on-demand tomorrow, is genuinely moving. Much of that credit should go to the director and actor, who seem in sync in tone and highlight an exploration of compassion and empathy.
Tessa Thompson delivers a terrific performance in The Listener, taking the viewer on a journey that’s fulfilling. Director Steve Buscemi coaxes out a cinematic experience that seems to aim to build a therapeutic rapport with its audience. This results in a “bottle” film with only one cast member, whom you can’t pull your eyes away from.

In 2023, Marvel Studios faced setbacks, beginning with ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ in February, followed by a recovery with ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,’ only to hit a low point with ‘The Marvels’ in November. This film performed poorly at the box office, making it the lowest-grossing MCU movie so far, and critics didn’t hold back either. Bob Iger acknowledged the studio’s lapse in focus and attributed the movie’s failure to insufficient oversight on set, pledging to prioritize quantity over quality going forward.
Criticism mainly targeted the movie’s generic plot, lackluster villain, and a less serious portrayal of Fury. Despite its flaws, the main actresses handled the criticism gracefully. Teyonah Parris, speaking months after the release, urged people to watch the movie before passing judgment.

2023 was not a good year for Marvel Studios, low box-office returns started in February with ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,’ recovered with ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ and then hit rock bottom with the release of ‘The Marvels’ in November. The movie performed so badly, it’s the lowest-grossing MCU movie to date, and the critical reception was abysmal as well. This prompted even Bob Iger to admit that the studio had somewhat lost its focus and blamed the failure of the movie on not enough execs overseeing the day-to-day operations on set. He promised to focus on quantity over quality in the future.
The movie was mostly criticized for its generic plot, uninspiring villain, and Fury somewhat taking a backseat with a less serious role. It was a half-baked movie, but all three main actresses took the criticism with grace. Now months after the movie was released Teyonah Parris spoke to People,...

Kevin Feige has been the mastermind of the MCU for more than 10 years now and has created the most commercially successful franchise in the history of cinema. Creating an interconnected universe over multiple films is an ambitious idea that many have tried and failed. But Feige’s vision and conviction made it possible.
