"Sechse kommen durch die ganze Welt", which means "Six get through the whole world", is a German television film from 2014, actually from the Christmas holidays 2014, so this one has its 5th anniversary this year. The director is Uwe Janson and the screenplay is by David Ungureit. Both have been really prolific when it comes to small screen filmmaking really and that shows here, but I will get to that later. Also both worked on other fairytale films already and now you know what to expect here. This one here is another fairytale adaptation, one of really many ordered by big German television stations in recent years. Actually these go back way further than 2014. And like for most others of these the running time here is pretty much exactly an hour. Not too long for sure because this Brothers Grimm adaptation really has a lot to offer, also in terms of quantity and looking at how many characters were included here, it is almost a bit too short for proper elaborations. This shows especially when it comes to the characters' introduction, which felt a bit rushed for almost all of them. Luckily, they managed to make up for that as each character basically got their moment in the spotlight. The fast guy of course is really at the center of the film with his meaningful race, the flower girl manages to help the runner during one crucial moment, the ice girl helps them towards the end when they are in danger of dying from a heated floor and the guy with thr big physical strength manages to carry all the king's fortune at the end, which is as much as one man can carry. All this was far more interesting really than the romance plot I would say. I'd even go so far to say that the two protagonist from that did feel a bit bland and how they are so much in love is difficult to believe after how they just met briefly early on and even he seemed to have no interest initially.

What else can I say here. I already mentioned in the title of my review that it felt a bit like Avengers. I could not even say a fantasy take on Avengers for obviously they are fantasy too, but a fairytale take really and looking at how they had to keep it in under 60 minutes this was really well done. As for the girl who is scared that her power may be too strong when she falls for another character (or in general for interaction with humans), of course I immediately thought of Elsa from Frozen, even if that one is still waiting for her romance plot. Now back to this movie here. It needed a little bit to get going for me, basically the longer it went the better it got with the supporting characters, but I liked the watch. This isdefinitely one of these new German fairytale films that does not have too many known cast members to it, perhaps because it also is not one of the Brothers Grimm's most famous works by any means and probably many from the new generation have not even heard the title, let alone known what it is about (and the latter includes myself). Still this is not supposed to be a negative criticism at all. I enjoyed the watch. It was really fantastic (in the genre sense) and Heid's and Müller's looks weren't hurting either. Besides pretty much all the cast members have been successful actors for a while despite some of their young ages, just not as central characters in high-profile projects. But they are certainly experienced. The one exception and the one actor I immediately recognized and knew about was Sebastian Bezzel, even if this is not his story. I can see why they picked him for first credit. With his food-titled crime comedies, he is the only one who comes close to being a star here. His character felt like a more gimmicky (if that is even possible) version of Helena Bonham's version in the new Alice in Wonderland films. Bit he is somewhat the main antagonist here and honestly the scene where he kills the "Avengers" almost int he aforementioned heated room was pretty evil somewhat, even if they kept him light with some of his talking and the style how he interacts in general. So maybe that is why in the end they moved the main villain focus away from him to his aide, who just proves to be an opportunist, and that felt a bit unrealistic. Also how the gang at the very end decides to keep travelling, which may explain the title, so this is also a film with major focus on friendship. I am not familiar with the original fairytale here, so I cannot talk in detail about parallels and differences between than one and this film here, but I liked the adaptation. I give it a thumbs-up and I think it is a good watch for everybody who does not despise fairytale films. Also for the entire family. Go see it.
