Chekov states he once "...decoded a Xindi..." ( Spock cuts him off) The Xindi were an alien race that attacked earth during the third season of Star Trek: Enterprise.
Episode is dedicated to the memory of the late Leonard Nimoy
Fans of the classic sci-fi series Doctor Who may recognise minister Amphidamas as Colin Baker, who played the Sixth Doctor on the BBC TV series from 1984 to 1986 and continues to do so in Big Finish's range of Doctor Who audio adventures.
Towards the middle of the episode when Captain Kirk is talking to Bones, a lamp similar to what was used in "I Dream of Jeannie" can be seen. "I Dream of Jeannie" was another popular show that aired in the 1960s with the original "Star Trek" series.
Fans of the original series may have noticed that in previous episodes a couple of small details of the new set were not quite right. In the original show the bed covering in sick bay and some living quarters commonly consists of a red and metallic checked material, until this episode it was red and creme and not at all metallic, and a lot of quarters and engineering etc. have grid like separators in them, previously these were obviously hand made and the pattern was rather irregular, both of these small details have been corrected by this episode, meaning almost subconsciously the enterprise interior is looking ever more 'correct'.
