An actor goes into the woods to spend a few nights to say goodbye to his late friend and send his ashes off into the ether. But he begins to experience bizzare sights and begins to question his sanity.
Let me be clear this is NOT a horror, it is very much an indie drama with a supernatural element to it.
It sadly struggles to find its identity and barely manages to tell a complete story.
It looks fine, it sounds fine but the competence level behind the camera is more than a little questionable especially when it comes to the writing.
Show Yourself was initially a curious little film and it got my attention, but by the half way point it became very evident that it wasn't going anywhere fast and leads to a finale that tries to be deep but comes across deeply luckluster instead.
I see what they were trying to do, sadly they failed miserably.
The Good:
A nice concept
The Bad:
Poorly paced
No payoff
Weak writing
Things I Learnt From This Movie:
I suddenly want to be cremated, be in an urn on someones table with a "Hi, my name is Jay" sticker on it!
I've never met a Paul I've gotten on with thus never would have had this problem
