- [Butch Gilzean tells off one of his Henchmen]
- Gilzean's Henchmen: Boss, you'll never guess who just knocked on the door
- Butch Gilzean: If I'll never guess, then why not just tell me, jackass? If you say I have three guesses, well, then that's a game. It's an annoying and stupid game, but at least it makes sense.
- [Tabitha Galavan tries to threaten Oswald Cobblepot]
- Tabitha Galavan: I was thinking about visiting your mother's grave.
- Oswald Cobblepot: Oh?
- Tabitha Galavan: Mm. I miss the old bird. Her sobs would often lull me to sleep at night.
- Tabitha Galavan: [Tabitha quotes Gertrude with a German accent] 'Oswald... Oswald. Save me.'
- Oswald Cobblepot: [Oswald laughs] That does sound like her.
- [first lines]
- Captain Nathaniel Barnes: [Captain Barnes tells Jim Gordon and Harvey Bullock about the museum robber] Solo robber hit the museum about an hour ago. Scared people away with a bomb that never went off.
- James Gordon: Anybody hurt?
- Captain Nathaniel Barnes: Nope.
- Harvey Bullock: Why us, then? Isn't it a Robbery Squad case.
- Captain Nathaniel Barnes: Bomb threats are you guys. Whether the bomb went off or not. So get on it.
- [Ivy Pepper shows Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle the mushroom to knock out Sonny Gilzean's gang]
- Ivy Pepper: Meet Psilocybe Azurescens. Also known as The Blue Devil
- Selina Kyle: She slipped a few of them in the gang's lunch today, so all we have to do now is wait.
- Bruce Wayne: What will they do?
- Ivy Pepper: Instant death.
- Ivy Pepper: [Bruce looks at Ivy] Kidding.
- [Oswald Cobblepot pays a visit to Edward Nygma after his release from Arkham Asylum]
- Oswald Cobblepot: I'm here to tell you, Ed, as a friend, violence and anger are not the answer. I am a changed man. Better. And you can change, too.
- Edward Nygma: [Ed smiles] Cool. Tempting offer. The thing is... the me I am right now is kind of hitting my stride.
- Oswald Cobblepot: [Oswald smiles] Oh.
- Edward Nygma: And I'm really grateful for all that you've taught me, and all that bad stuff you told me about Jim Gordon is really paying off.
- Oswald Cobblepot: [Ed laughs] Is it?
- Edward Nygma: It is. It's helped me create the perfect puzzle to get rid of my Jim Gordon dilemma. Normally, I would love to share, but to be honest, the new you is kind of freaking me out.
- [Oswald Cobblepot stands over his mother's grave]
- Oswald Cobblepot: Hello, Mother.
- Oswald Cobblepot: [Oswald sobs] What a lovely spot.
- Oswald Cobblepot: [Oswald sniffles] I'm so sorry I couldn't be here for the funeral. But I think you'd be proud of me. I'm a changed man. Or... at least, I'm trying to be. To be honest, I don't know if I'm gonna make it without you.
- Elijah Van Dahl: Hello?
- [Oswald Cobblepot meets his father Elijah Van Dahl for the first time]
- Elijah Van Dahl: You're Gertrude's son?
- Oswald Cobblepot: Yes. Um, I'm sorry. How did you know my mother exactly...
- Elijah Van Dahl: How old are you?
- Oswald Cobblepot: Excuse me?
- Elijah Van Dahl: How old are you? Gertrude left...
- Oswald Cobblepot: I'm 31.
- Elijah Van Dahl: 31 years ago, yes. That's right. Oh, my God, she... she never told me!
- Oswald Cobblepot: Told you what?
- Elijah Van Dahl: That I had a son.
- [Edward Nygma pays a visit to Officer Pinkney at his apartment]
- Edward Nygma: Hey, Pinkney? What do you call a tavern of blackbirds?
- Edward Nygma: [Ed swings a crow bar at Pinkney's head] A crow bar! You get it? A crow bar? I know it's kind of lame. I just came up with it on the spot.
- Edward Nygma: [Pinkney grabs Ed's ankle as Ed swings the crow bar down at Pinkney's head] Oh!
- [Jim Gordon tells Leslie Thompkins from behind bars that she needs to leave]
- Dr. Leslie Thompkins: So, what? We just give up?
- James Gordon: We move on.
- Dr. Leslie Thompkins: Move on? Move on to what? You mean... me. You mean I move on.
- James Gordon: I've thought long and hard about this.
- Dr. Leslie Thompkins: No.
- James Gordon: You have to listen to me.
- Dr. Leslie Thompkins: I'm tired of listening. This isn't fair. How can you not be with us?
- Dr. Leslie Thompkins: [Leslie holds Jim's hand to their baby in her stomach, crying] Birthdays... and first steps and skinned knees... and everything.
- [last lines]
- James Gordon: [Jim Gordon arrives to Blackgate Penitentiary with Harvey Bullock] You were a good partner, Harvey.
- Harvey Bullock: Still am.
- [Mr. Thatch at the art museum tells Jim Gordon and Harvey Bullock about the three paintings that were defiled]
- Mr. Thatch: The painting is entitled 'Mad Grey Dawn' and depicted a railway explosion at the turn of the century. A minor work compared to much of the collection. Strangely, he simply defaced two much more valuable paintings in another section of the gallery. A Marché and a LaRue. Follow me.
- Mr. Thatch: [Mr. Thatch shows the detectives the other two paintings] Priceless. What kind of art thief would take time to defile such masterpieces.
- Harvey Bullock: An ignorant one?
- [Edward Nygma congratulates Jim Gordon on stopping the bomb at the train station]
- Edward Nygma: Jim. Heard you were able to save the day.
- James Gordon: I got lucky.
- Edward Nygma: I don't believe in luck. You saw a problem and you solved it. Bravo.
- [Selina Kyle insults Sonny Gilzean]
- Sonny Gilzean: The Gilzean's are all about consequences.
- Selina Kyle: More like all about pizza.
- [Bruce Wayne stands up to Sonny Gilzean during their fight]
- Sonny Gilzean: I actually think he wants a beating. Is that your thing, kid? You like pain!
- Bruce Wayne: [Sonny holds Bruce to the wall, as Bruce calls him names] An ignorant, brutish, cowardly clown.
- Sonny Gilzean: [Sonny laughs] Yep. He likes it, all right. Your mom and dad must've been real freaks, for bringing up a kid like you.
- [Bruce repeatedly punches Sonny across the face knocking him to the ground]
- [Elijah Van Dahl tells Oswald Cobblepot about his mother]
- Elijah Van Dahl: Gertrude came to work as a cook for my parents. She was so young and beautiful. So full of life. So beautiful. I was young then, too. A boy, really. A foolish, romantic boy. When my parents found out, they forbade us from being together. I was the heir to a great fortune, they said. And she was just a cook. I threatened to run away with her. Turn my back on my family name and my inheritance. It was the first and only time I ever stood up to them. They must've known my words were just that. A spoiled child making idle threats. The next day, Gertrude was gone. My parents told me only then they had come to an arrangement. She would be taken care of. And I must never make an attempt to find her. And to my shame, I didn't. I let them separate us. I had no idea. She never told me she was pregnant. She didn't tell me about you. If she did...
- Oswald Cobblepot: She told me that my father had died when I was still a baby.
- Elijah Van Dahl: Easier than the truth, I suppose. That your father was a coward who wouldn't stand up to his parents. She must've figured that the two of you would've been better off making your own way. Which, in fact, was probably the truth. Look at you. A strong young man. She did a good job, didn't she?
- Oswald Cobblepot: [Oswald smiles] She tried.
- [Elijah Van Dahl welcomes Oswald Cobblepot to his new home]
- Elijah Van Dahl: You have a home. And a father. And a family.
- Oswald Cobblepot: [Oswald chuckles] 'A family'?
- Elijah Van Dahl: A big, happy family. They're going to be so thrilled to meet you!
- Oswald Cobblepot: [Oswald laughs] Sir, please? Tell me truthfully. Is this a dream?
- Elijah Van Dahl: Not a dream, my boy. You're home.
- [Selina Kyle talks to Bruce Wayne after stitching up the cuts to his face]
- Selina Kyle: I think Sonny is right. You do like pain.
- Bruce Wayne: When it was happening... it was like nothing else existed. Everything I've been struggling with... emptiness... and confusion... it just vanished. For the first time, in a long time, I knew I was going to be okay. I knew that whatever Sonny did to me... I could take it. That he couldn't break me. That no one can.
- Selina Kyle: [Selina sighs] Nobody's unbreakable, Bruce.
- [Captain Barnes interrogates Jim Gordon for the murder of Officer Pinkney]
- Captain Nathaniel Barnes: I know that something went down between you and Galavan that night. I saw it in your eyes when I.A. was grilling you. And now the one person who was about to shine light on this whole thing is found beaten to death with you standing over the body. What am I missing?
- James Gordon: [Jim screams] I was set up!
- Captain Nathaniel Barnes: Jim! How many lying, son of a bitch, low-life weasels have you heard use that same line. Somebody set you up? That's what you're going with? The least you can admit what you did. Be a man! Pinkney was one of us. He deserves that. I deserve that! The least you could do is look me in the eye and remind me that you were a good cop once. That you still know right from wrong. Jim.
- James Gordon: [Jim hangs his head] I want to talk to my rep.
- Captain Nathaniel Barnes: You're a disgrace to the badge.
- Captain Nathaniel Barnes: [Barnes bangs the table] I trusted you! But you broke my heart.
- [Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle watch Jim Gordon on television be convicted for murder]
- Bruce Wayne: This isn't right. This can't be right.
- Selina Kyle: Tell me something that is.
