Great episode and A LOT of intolerance on IMDb...
outerheaven238 December 2015
The amount of intolerance displayed within the various reviews of this episode on IMDb is absolutely staggering. Obviously the very mindset this episode criticizes is not uncommon among NCIS viewers. I get that the target audience of the show is conservative and middle aged but I sincerely hope that the reviews here don't mirror the opinion of the majority of the audience. The episode argues that civil liberties are a virtue to be embraced instead of being afraid of them and that personal preferences or dispositions and other peoples' intolerance toward that shouldn't disadvantage someone, which I believe to be a correct message. It's sad that many reviewers here openly express their own bigotry like that, if they aren't gay (as I am not gay) that's fine but the fact that they cite terms like "moral" and "offensive" clearly shows that some people here are still caught up in some pointless backwards thinking. Don't get me wrong: In American terms I myself am far from liberal but the point of the episode was TOLERANCE and I am shocked how little of that there is to find in the IMDb reviews of this episode I have read. I congratulate the writers, producers and first-time director Rocky Carroll on this great episode and hope that at least some people might have learned something from it. If this open-mindedness offends someone here I am truly sorry but maybe some of the conformists within this forum should ask themselves if their lifestyle is the way it is because they really want it to be or just because they themselves are in fact afraid of other peoples' intolerance toward them. Maybe that is the most important thing to consider after watching this episode...

Best supporting actor

The intensity and diversity of the guest star was so intriguing. The story was rather straight forward telling of gays in military and some slants against them. I've been going back to watch from episode one of season one and this has literally the most diverse Guest character. Yes there have been many many great guests but they don't have the range of this guy.

Great episode

Warning: Spoilers
This episode of NCIS was fantastic. It would have been easy for the writers to have this episode revolve around the victims sexual orientation, but instead it focused on his heroism. Even when they would have been justified in doing so, they did not get preachy with speeches about acceptance and tolerance, but instead treated the bigoted characters the same way they would have if they had persecuted someone for being a different race or having different religious beliefs (no matter how outdated or ignorant they may be).

The sad part is that this will be lost on those who feel that a TV show's acknowledgement that gay people exist is a personal attack.

This is by far a 10/10 episode and as you can see by the reviews that gave a 1/10 is all due to it dealing with a gay salor... this is intolerance at its finest so open your mind and you will enjoy this awesome and amazing episode

They know at least half of their audience are old school conservative types. I'm glad that didn't stop them.

Great job, Gibbsy!

We Build, We Fight

We Build, We Fight 12.13

My wife and I. We both have theatre background. And we're not about to launch into a boring six paragraph dissertation on any TV show or movie. We would like to think that our light-hearted, semi-non sequitur reviews based upon the silly MST3K model might be enjoyable for some. WE get a kick out of it ; ).

8-stars. Everything starts with an 8-star rating.

At 00:16- Hollywood cliche #091: male actors must break things to show that they are angry.

At 00:47- Circuit breaker panels are not installed outdoors in DC.

Aww. Baby's first lab coat.

STFU McGee. Tony's gifts were logical and you would know that if you had a pair.

Umm Autopsy Gremlin? There is no such thing as a high pH level in drinking water. Learn about your local drinking water quality by reading the annual drinking water quality report that water suppliers are required to provide.

7-stars.

You ever notice how Abby treats both humans and animals to the same goofy smile?

Narcissist much, Breena?

Ducky says :"If it was with his killer" for the first time in twelve seasons.

Yay. Homosexuals. Yay. Like, Superman homosexual yay.

Why does Bishop grab every newspaper in the building? Censorship much?

6-stars.

Gibbs is way out of character. Is he going to out Abby?

Why would the GPS update at :45 past the hour instead of :00? Stupid writers.

5-stars.

Umm news flash Bishop: once an addict always an addict.

Hollywood cliche #054: childbirth is always a miracle.

5-stars.
