"Golden" is a German 3-minute short film from this year, so very new very fresh still. There is no spoken language in here so you won't need any subtitles. The film draws a parallel between being gay and being golden. the gay protagonist is different because of who he is. Now take a closer look. This plot implies that gays are physically different actually and that's pretty offensive in my opinion, because it is all about equality and not about recognizing sexuality from looks. Apart from that, there are more flaws about this film. The main character is a man around the age of 20 perhaps and it seems he has never seen another golden guy before he meets one in the streets. Gay people are no race in danger of extinction. They are everywhere as the film rightly shows afterward. Has he lived in a basement all his life? Also the promiscuous reaction of the two strangers kissing immediately was nothing I liked a lot. I believe intimacy belongs to something like that and that you know the other guy and not that you kiss a random stranger out of nowhere only because he is gay too. So yeah, I believe this is a failure and it does not do any justice to gay people or gay-themed films. Stay far far away. Luckily it was this short.
