Filmed in 6 days.
Filmed in October 2013 over the course of 6 days with only 2 weeks of pre-production. On the day before filming was to commence, they lost the location of the cabin. The cabin seen in the film was secured at the last minute, mere hours before cast and crew were to arrive. The barn was used to house the special effects department. The filmmakers rented the cabin and lost the deposit when they accidentally got fake blood on the furniture.
The cast helped create the tombstones seen in the cemetery.
In order to make the cabin and lake look more secluded, CGI was used to digitally remove the houses along the shoreline of the lake.
The jack-o-lantern on the front porch is carved to resemble the one from the main title sequence of Halloween (1978).
