Forgettable cop drama with some comedy
Horst_In_Translation18 March 2015
Warning: Spoilers
This movie continues right where the first stopped. The two protagonists wonder who will get the position of the killed police chief (their competing = main comedy plot this movie) and stumble right into their next case. Also the female protagonist's father plays a huge role in this film as shadows from his past come back to haunt him. Unfortunately, watching this made me even more sure that Florian Lukas simply is not a great actor. With their boss gone, the two interact more with the unlikeable other police chief (who is probably gonna get the job in the end). So he has a bigger role too. The pharmacist who acts as the forensic doctor has her screen time reduced and there really is not much to her character anymore that has not been shown in the first film already. Looks like this could backfire if she (the 3rd biggest character in the series) has become forgettable so quickly.

I personally did not find this film as funny as the first. Also it is a bit repetitive already. The female cop once again does not trust her colleague, like in the first when she thought he was moonlighting as a pimp. The two brutal fellows are a good addition at first, but not particularly interesting either. And by the way where is the homie from Lukas' character from the first movie, the one who was suspected to be the murderer and seemed pretty close with Lukas' character. Gone, it seems. Nothing really interesting about this movie and it was pretty much clear from the beginning that neither would get the job as police chief just like it turns out in the end. I hope they come up with something better for the third movie again. Otherwise, it looks like this series dug itself into a hole it will have a hard time getting out of.
