Highlights

Though I'm sure many shippers of Jatty will be upset, or just find Jenna's decision to just be delaying the inevitable, I must admit I liked the idea that rather than go for the romantic ideal, Jenna went for what was realistic and good for both her and Matty. After all, while Matty was talking about going to Ferry to be near Jenna, a lot of what he was talking about was about dealt with being lovey dovey with her. He didn't seem excited about turning down a division one school for a division three, and while he seemed to like the idea of snow, it seemingly was only because of the activities he could do with Jenna. Which, from Jenna's point of view, didn't seem appealing. After all, college is a new reinvention opportunity and with her need to focus on academics, getting involved on campus, and so much more, will she have time for Matty who, I'm sure, will be complaining about his decision? Thus making Jenna perhaps feel guilty for maybe being the swaying vote in why he came to Ferry over Berkeley?

Low Points

Val returns this episode and while her saying she has evolved and now is ready for marriage is nice, honestly I would have preferred her coming back during the finale. Reason being, Val is a terrible character no matter how you slice it. She doesn't make for a good comic relief, and arguably the show has those slots taken by Sadie and Tamara, and she doesn't even act as a good voice of wisdom. Hell, an excellent position for her would have been the wise fool, but despite being placed in the position to do so, Val has not been written or performed to play such a part. One which, arguably, has been needed for Jenna's struggles could have been less if there was one person who was slightly grounded amongst the cast.

On The Fence

When it comes to Lacey looking at baby number 2 as a second chance, while understandable I do think the storyline is a setup for just in case this show goes for another season. Which, despite the idea of Jenna starting over, I just can't see being a good idea. For unless she truly evolves and isn't basically repeating her same patterns with new people, I can't see things ending well. At least now though, with the series ending with graduation, it can end gracefully, sort of on its own terms, and ending at a milestone, rather than ending because viewers have utterly lost interest in Jenna's shenanigans.

When it comes to Sadie getting back at her mom, honestly I'm unsure if it maybe that interesting. If only because, it requires Sadie to have a breakdown and I don't see that happening. I can foresee Darlene talking about how desperate she is, and maybe Sadie feeling sorry for her, but without a real deconstruction of Sadie, there is nothing to be gained from this Darlene storyline.
