Getting to know her (?)
kosmasp1 October 2016
I thought this was going to be a documentary, close enough though. Still while "stalk" footage is getting cut into scenes that are obviously the beginning of porn videos (no actual intercourse is shown in case you were wondering), this feels almost like a show-reel by the main actress on her "acting" skills. Which in this case means, how well is she lying to the viewer to get an image across (innocent angel, horny teenager and so forth).

While this may be interesting (and maybe even arousing to some, without any climax just the build up), the movie would have been helped a lot more with a more enticing story around this. Of course whatever you think about its bleak approach, it never changes pace and holds it through to the (bitter?) end ...

A subtle yet challenging look at how we interact with porn

Warning: Spoilers
After Eden is an astute and enigmatic film that is more interested in exploring ideas than passing judgment. While so many films made on the subject often depict the negative aspects, After Eden does not condemn or condone modern pornography, but explores how we interact with it, and how that changes when presented in the form of "true" cinema.

Suffice it to say that anyone who prefers standard narratives that are easy to digest would probably not enjoy this. However, if you're looking for something more artistic and experimental that will leave you questioning your relationship with a taboo subject, this is a must see.

Recommended for Michael Haneke fans. I wish Canada produced more films like After Eden.
