Hello fellow imdb review readers,

as this is my first review to this specific movie, i will not go into vast detail about it, because i have to re-binge-watch a couple of times to go into deep sea about it very much though. Hope you will understand!

First things first the first scene is an absolute gamechanger arranger - you get to know the main character Marcus (played by the quite handsome Axel Piel) in a car theft love on the backseat with a hepatitis positive street artist in a Trabant Cabriolet (i thin it was one of the 1965 manufacterings). It creates a very opressive atmosphere as the close ups remain on Marcus face and there is no in between on the very intimate scene and the tension growing stronger with the shifting cuts to the emerging white russian gangers/ police guys approching the scene. I got goosebumps when the music reached its climax and one of the mafia guys came out of the manhole under the car holding his ak 63 akimbo in one hand in the other his nokia 6565 calling his boss that there is something fishy in particular - that is great cinema my friends - that is great cinema FOLKS! wow but then it was like a total change in style as you can see Marcus jumping out of the car in whole Schwarzenegger fashion having pumped up muscles shouting out 'I HAVE THE POWER OF GREWESCULL' and just chokeslamming the gangster back into the manhole with effects so trashy i wanted to cry in my big anime pillow. not very great i can say.

This first scene is a symbol for this whole movie. There is so much greatness compared to so much unncecessary roughness i dont like to say this, bc i lik really brutal movies, like you know this one scene in home alone when one of the gangster gets a brick in his FACE - that is cinema. But the main character of a pseudo deep movie shredding people into pieces just by the way is grotescly ridiculous to the point of missing the movies intentions which lie in the construct of lies with are told by the main character.

The strongest part of the movie is the love affaire between Marcus and the siamese twin of Marcus (greatly played by newcomer Christoph Liu) where there is so much in between, so much emotion on both sides, it is the ambivalence between pure happiness and beeing honest in the end after all the lies... i dont want to spoiler too much goooiis...

So after all i would give 62 out of 1372 stars because of the great method acting by Axel Piel and Christoph Liu and for the setting which is exclusevely made out of Vantablack by one of the on-vogue artist of our time Vanish Kapoor. Benedikt Grewe's directing debut is as unexpected a rough but rewarding watch, you have to take into consideration the budget and the really out of nowhere coming actors like C. Liu. Greatness but poorly put together in my opionion!
