The cliff jumping scene was performed for real by the actors who were as scared about the activity as their characters were. One of the actors, Akash, couldn't swim very well, adding more difficulty to the shoot. After finally gathering courage to jump off the cliff, the actors were horrified to learn that the camera had not recorded the last jump (Akash's). Therefore Akash had to hike all the way back around to the cliff and jump off again.
Most of the script was improvised by the actors on the spot. Scenes were roughly planned beforehand and often there was only a single take. Sometimes the director would film the actors without them knowing, producing truly spontaneous footage.
The majority of the filming was completed in a single weekend on a long road trip across Alberta. Filming took place over the whole day and sometimes into the night, and was largely filmed in sequence of the story.
